Another frivolous pursuit
An 86 year old auntie signed on the dotted line to pay $52k for a slimming regime and her daughters are crying foul. Should they or are they being unreasonable? The auntie is not of unsound mind and wants to look slim and pretty. She was not coerced to sign and pay. She did it with eyes open wide wide.
The daughter are complaining to CASE for a refund. Hey, it is caveat emptor.
Or should we expect a slimming centre to tell a 86 year auntie that she shouldn't waste her money at her age? Is it the duty of a commercial slimming centre not to sell their products? They are there to promote and sell their products for profit. And if there is no misrepresentation, then there is no foul.
Quite frivolous in all ways.

$52K for a slimming regime? And for a 86 year old auntie? It must be a misrepresentation - of age and amount.
the numbers are in the today paper. no error.
The papers have been wrong before.
One thing great about individual freedom is that you can do whatever the hell you like in the market as a buyer or a seller — and if you are not disturbing anyone else, it is no one's business what you buy or sell consentingly.
The media is staffed by no-life, low-life busy bodies and kapoh cry babies, who often misrepresent the facts and make errors in reporting.
Fuck those media losers!
No it is no error.. thats what the girls are spending... thats why ivy lee went into slimming industry..it the chic thing.
Thru peer group subtle education the girls were "implanted" the idea it is chic to wine and dine, and tot it ok to eat and drink good rich stuff and top up with good diary milk as it became the "consensus" of the masses....
after all the excesses they put on, they were then told to head to the spa for herbal bath, massage and slimming...
thats how industries are made...
shows how gullible people really are when allowed to be misled and "educated" by tv commercials and social norms that were manipulated...
compare with the slim girls from neighbouring countries, eg malaysia, see how they dun have that problem when they first arrived
the consensus of the masses is normally incorrect if pareto is right
First they fattened the gullibles and then they slaughtered them. Wow, what a way to make money!
i doubt the daughters of this rich auntie has a case. she just enjoy spending the money and be happy with it.
but i hope people don't take this case as evidence to keep our cpf money longer. for in this case, auntie sure has a lot of money and does not need to bother about her cpf money.
I think CASE is not the end point, to get the refund the auntie got to take the case to court. And that's where things get interesting.
Unless the auntie got alot of money, she is already at a disadvtg to start with, becos the slimming boss, if she is worth her salt, is probably among the richest people in town with a lot of money to burn.
the auntie is not unhappy. it is the daughters who is meddling with the auntie's lifestyle.
sure lose case unless there is misrepresentation.
You bunch are emotionally stifled lah. Go out and have some fun and spend some fucken money on "frivolity" and have a wonderful time with people you care about. It's GOOD for you!
Pareto was a nut anyway, always trying to to define (and failing miserably) what "optimum" conditions are for human activity and existence, ending up confusing himself and economists and "social engineers" who followed him.
What is wrong with the "dumb" masses being "frivolous"? As individuals they are merely acting according to their nature: seeking to gain a "profit" in their own (not yours or mine) self interest — Is there something "wrong" with that?
If women didn't think they needed to lose weight or improve their looks, the whole economy would collapse.
Worse still, connoisseurs of sexy women like my good self would have to live in a world filled with FAT, UGLY CHICKS who don't care about themselves enough and are therefore too stingy to spend any money on making themselves "better".
No thanks. :-(
the gym business wud also collapse
