housewives debate
The housewives or homemakers issue is going to be another hot debate.
Read several letters in Today paper in response to a writer, Siao Kian Kiong, who said that homemaker is a self centred decision. Working or doing part time work is also a self centred decision. The interest is in the self and also benefits the family. And just as working is an economic activity, so is being a housemaker, which is everything a maid is doing and many things more.
The value of a housewife or housemaker is not something to be trifled with. Looks like many people, after being looked after by their mother, have already forgotten the sacrifices of their mothers.

In Singapore, if your contribution cannot be quantified in cold, hard cash, then it is not recognised. Just look at the citizenship application process. The applicant is required to furnish details of earnings for the past few years. Can anyone tell me any other country where you are required to show how much you earned when you apply to become a citizen ?
A mum will protect her young and lay her life down for her family—this is profound "selfishness"—in the rational sense.
Dun mess with mum. In nature, all life springs from Mother. Invoke her anger, at your own peril.
ya, don't pray pray with mum.
i still remember about the hairdo issue.
Hi anon 9.01
you are quite right when you say that in singapore evrything is measured in cold hard cash. a person's worth is calculated by the money he or she can make or possesses in the bank. if you have nothing you will be nothing in the eyes of singapore. in singapore mopney is god and if you have none, then you will be disposable and unwanted.
that's the reason why people earning millions still need pay rise when they no longer can eat or do the things that they used to do when young.
