we have more than 800 unique readers daily
As we progress up the social and economic ladder, as we become more well read and informed, as we become more aware of the our role and responsibilities to ourselves and our people, we no longer want to sit still and be fed with whatever news people think are fit for our consumption. We want to decide and judge for ourselves what is good or bad, right or wrong.
News reporting is no longer a one way street where the reporters and journalists regard all readers as captive peking ducks to be force fed with whatever they deem fit. News reporting has to change. It is interactive and responsive to the needs of the readers. The readers now demands what they want to hear and know.
This is where Cyberspace comes in. Only Cyberspace can play this kind of role of news as there are and not news as the MSM want them to be. And when the news are biased, not up to expectation, the readers are there to change them, correct them, rebut them and present their own version of the the news.
Everyone here can and should play a part in this new development. The fact that you are all in Cyberspace is enough evidence to show that this is the trend. The only thing that is holding many people back is the apprehension, the self doubt that people may disagree with your views. It is time to remove the apprehension. As for self doubt, this is a natural expectation and there will be people who agree with you and those who disagree. We are all different and see things differently. No one is absolutely right or wrong.
There is a growing trend for the young and restive to want to say their peace. This trend is unstoppable.

What you say it true, only if the fear of prosecution is removed. We had the case of the Singaporean student who was threatened with prosecution and the Mr Brown saga. Only when this fear factor is removed, then and only then can we all blog freely and under our own identity.
having an opinion is not a crime. making comments on issues, especially issues concerning us and all singaporeans is our right.
what we should avoid is libellious suit if we attack someone personally. this we can avoid.
we also need to be sensitive and careful when discussing racial and religious stuff. oh, political stuff as well. people are very sensitive. fair comments and academic discussions on such matters done rationally should not be a problem. it becomes a problem when the comments are meant to incite and cause a rift among the races or believers.
i will only discuss such matters if the other party is sincere to discuss it rationally and logically. but once i sense that the other party is not up to it, the discussion stops.
i think i have irritated many people and ruffled some feathers. but it will be ridiculous for anyone to take issues with my comments in a court of law. mine is basically a personal opinion and view and everyone is free to disagree.
oh, i may call george bush and tony blair liars. but their societies are matured enough to take that. or maybe they were the truths so no case against me. : )
There are many liars in your tiny island state. How come you do not point them out? Is it because your country is not matured enough? Are you too frightened and intimidated to do so?
you are very right. but i have to be realistic. i cannot afford the money to fight a legal suit.
all a liar needs to do is sue me in court and pay for a top notch counsel and i will lose by default. i got no money to pay for an equally top notch and very expensive counsel.
you won't want to see me made a bankrupt would you?
