I do not think they are laughing at EVs, shipbuilding, high-speed railways, drone technology, solar panels, wind turbines, rare earth and other minerals largely controlled by China both in raw resources and refining, space exploration and the Tiangong Space Station.
Some of the other rarely mentioned things include domination in artificial diamonds, tunnel boring machines, legacy chips, agricultural machineries, commercial vehicles like E-buses, trucks, excavators and construction machinery. These are very much cheaper than those from conventional sources like Germany and Japan and selling well in Global South countries.
So, the USA and the West can keep laughing, while China keeps up its overcapacity in everything catering largely to the Global South market. Things too cheap cannot sell in the USA and Europe and must be considered junks and kept out from consumers in the USA. Manufacturing inside the USA and Europe need expensive machineries and raw materials to make expensive goods for their own citizens. China is no longer interested in making high-end goods making a pittance and letting big names put on a label and make exorbitant profits. Those days are over and China is going to make all the profits for itself. Just let them feel good by massaging their own egos, that brings little benefit.
Now, what is happening in Europe with all the protest spreading? It is all about cost of living ignited by side issues. One thing leads to another as people wised up and start to see the picture. Sure, those protests can be stamped down by force, but the underlying reason cannot just go away. It will fester and explode.
When violent protest erupted in Hong Kong, a lot of accusation against the Hong Kong law enforcement use of force against protestors was all over the media. Did the media say anything about the high-handed action against protestors in France. Oh, the Hong Kong protestors were very peaceful attacking Government buildings and those in France were violent. Just listen to the hypocrisy.

Who is really laughing now? Not the West. The Global South countries are laughing for a completely different reason. They are laughing because they have the privilege of enjoying cheap goods from China. The more the merrier.
I do not think the Global South countries are demonizing China's overcapacity at all. After all, cheaper goods mean better living conditions with room to spare for better education to uplift themselves. If China can do it, so can the Africans, the South Americans, the Middle Easterners and the Pacific Islanders.
The users of Rednote in the USA and the West are crying. Crying because of their inability to enjoy the privilege of buying cheaper EVs and other products from China. Not because they are too rich to buy cheap stuff, but because their government would not allow them to. They have such good government in place trying to protect them from cheap Chinese goods. I am envious, lol.
It was a blessing in disguise for the Global South that China existed today. Otherwise, they would be in deep shit having to pay an arm and a leg to buy even expensive basic stuff from the West. Having to pay exorbitant prices for basic goods means prolonging poverty, highly dependent on the West with debt traps and bending over backwards for the colonial masters. The West does not want them to progress like China, to be able to make the things they needed themselves and being held hostage through being kept in poverty from improving themselves.
Without China half of the Indians and Global South people would not be able to afford mobile phones.
The next century belongs to China as it will dominate in many fields. Manufacturing will be the core sector propelling China's growth.
China is going to control the most important element in the world of the future and that is rare earth. Inner Mongolia sits one of the world's largest reserves of rare earth ores and not to forget that China controls more than 90% of rare earth refining facilities as well. Without the refining logistics for rare earth, all the ores that can be found anywhere else are just mere dirt.
Deng Xiaoping already knew the importance of rare earth during one of his visits to the Inner Mongolia site at Bayan Obo. He declared at that time - The Middle East has oil; we have rare earth. Both are extremely important resources for the world to leverage on in order to move forward. Oil's important has been proven beyond doubt. Rare earth is just taking over.
The Americans like to make money the easy way, like gambling in the stock market, become politicians and lawyers. The difficult work in manufacturing, in processing rare earth, in making little nuts and bolts are not their choice of work.
