What is happening around the world today is the manifestation of the failure of democracy, igniting a realization that the system is rigged by the Government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich.
When middle class citizens that once could live in relative ease and comfort are cannibalized by the superrich and being erased and falling into the same position as the underprivileged, we know the system has failed.
A democracy is supposed to give citizens a chance to choose a government that is going to work for them and look after everyone, rich or poor. But the actual outcome says otherwise. Take Trump as an example who cuts taxes for the super-rich and imposed an added tax masquerading as tariffs hoping to patch the hole resulting from the tax cuts for the already rich elites by punishing the poor.
A system cannot just continue to fool its citizens all the time. When stomachs are hungry and jobs are scarce, the result is going to be chaos and demonstrations. Sure, such protest can be put down with force, but the problem does not just go away. It festers and gets worse over time.

Time is ripe for a civil war in US.
They're all fully armed so it'll be a nice show. Sit back and enjoy.
Democracy is also a way for those elected to enrich themselves & their crony. A good example can be found in the little red dot in SEA. The other fault of democracy is also the voters themselves. Voters are very happy to be screwed by the rich politicians every election.
I honestly think that China is supportive of reining in the super rich trying to make more money and cannibalizing those lower down in the food chain, thus creating an unbalanced society of people at both extremes. It is bound to create friction when it goes out of hand. It is not the agenda of socialism or communism where the ideology is based on equality.
I also believe this is one reason why China is not bailing out rich property developers and rich speculators, letting them fall to teach them a lesson. I also believe that this is why China took action against some super rich in the entertainment industry to task and cut them down to size. It is also one reason why Jack Ma, who was growing so enormously rich had to be put in his place over the years. The Chinese are not happy with billionaires flouting their wealth in a society that believes in nurturing equality.
Allowing the super-rich to cannibalize the country's less well-off is just following in the footsteps of a democracy, where the top 1% controls most of the wealth of the country and even the Government, with their campaign donations hijacking Government policies, leaving little for those fighting to survive.
China is also not too kind towards those speculating on the stock market and is averse to propping up the stock market as well. I can see that the anti-China bots are talking about China's stock market downward spiral and that trillions have been wiped out. This could be that China does not want to go the way of the Western stock market, shouting about all-time highs. The higher the market goes, the harder will be the fall of those gamblers getting caught when the shit hits the fan.
The collapse of the Japanese all-time high stock market in1992 is a perfect example of what can happen, only this time it will be much more catastrophic. Yet, just look at the Japanese stock market today. The lessons have been forgotten.
