It is very easy to blame China on everything, even blaming China for control of rare earths. Is this the result of China being smarter and more strategic in thinking or because the Americans were stupid or too busy starting and fighting wars, wasting manpower and resources to destabilise the world in order to control the world?
There are many factors that brought about this situation not that the Americans were blind or too busy bombing and invading countries and killing people. It is not so simple to say that the Chinaman, the cooks and laundrymen, were much starter than the brainless hillbillies and rednecks and dumb blondes. Of course these are some of the factors that brought about this domineering control of rare earths by China. While the American terrorists were preoccupied with wars, terrorism and genocide, China was trading all over the world and buying up mines for raw material and rare earths. The Americans are so stupid not to know this, and not to do anything about it. Their game plan is to take over the world by force, by military might.
I would just want to add one factor, the Chinese were able to process rare earths cheaper and sell them cheaper to the world. The Americans and the West just cannot compete and got priced out of the rare earth market. The Americans and the West were still thinking they were in the 20th Century when they could control everything and sell everything they want at their exorbitant prices. But China came in and offers everything on the cheap, just as good, equally good or even better at a fraction of the prices the Americans and West have been demanding from the rest of the world.
The EVs is a good example. Without China producing good and technically superior EVs, the Americans and the West would still be bullying the world to buy their obsolete and expensive automobiles, including poor quality EVs. China is telling the world that all goods and services can be had at a fraction of the prices the Americans and the West are demanding.
The Americans and the West cannot process rare earths at the price China is producing and selling to the rest of the world. Without China, the prices of rare earths from American producers would cost a bomb, controlled and monopolised by the Americans and the West, just like data centres, advanced chips, and everything made in America and the West.
The Americans and the West surrendered the rare earth market to China because they just could not compete and unable to control the market. China will do the same to all goods and services to benefit the world world and priced out the Americans and the West. Period.

The answer is arrogance and looking down on Asians, particularly the Chinese. For decades, the Chinese in USA were looked upon as just capable of being laundrymen and chefs. The arrogance goes far beyond just in the mindset of USA leaders, but the Dutch as well, proclaiming that even if they gave the blueprint to the Chinese, they will never be able to build DUV or EUV machine. Well, let us see, even if it takes a little time. I will keep that remark in mind for the rest of my life and see China making the Dutch eat their arrogant words.
While the USA was concentrating on creating more wars and fixated on fighting terrorism to keep its military industrial complex humming, China was quietly and peacefully going around the world acquiring resources for its own industrial revolution. Resources acquired means nothing without the logistics required to turn them into useful elements. China saw the weakness, the danger of being held hostage by depending on others, built the logistics not just in refining rare earth, but other sectors like batteries for EVs, solar panels for harvesting the sun's unlimited energy, wind turbines for harvesting wind energy and investing the education system to cater to the requirements of industry.
The USA meanwhile was betting on others to keep producing for them to enjoy forever, with total arrogance and without caring to understand the danger of total outsourcing and uprooting its industrial base. What the USA wanted was just to print money while others make the products in exchange,
China did all the hard work of producing those products in exchange but now Trump is accusing China of ripping off the USA. Can anybody tell me how that can even be plausible when it is a fair exchange of doing business? China is not like the USA just going around seizing territories and assets of other countries, which is even worse than ripping off countries. It is thievery, daylight robbery without batting an eyelid.
Before the trade war during Trump's first term, the USA was already depending on the refining logistics for rare earth in China. They knew this dependency but choose not to take action to remedy.
Can the USA and the rest of the world blame China for its dominance not just in rare earth but in other sectors if the industrial chain? If someone does not want to progress, why try to bring others down to its level? The USA is just capable of blaming others for its ills, never looking into the mirror to understand the cause.
Love to see that narcissistic musk being brought down to earth when dedollarisation is complete and Tesla and SpaceX become penny stocks.
Can still remember his arrogance in the cave rescue operation in Thailand few years ago when he thinks his little submarine can do the job. And he was told to fly a kite.😄
