Economically, Europe, especially the Germans, have hollowed out industries due to the expensive energy crisis. No more cheap energy from Russia means industries have to look elsewhere to survive. It benefits the USA both ways according to plan. If Europe failed to get cheap energy from Russia, the USA will be able to provide them with plentiful but highly expensive energy. European dependency on Russia just went the other way, Westward, but having to paying much more.
If Europe hollowed out its industry, the USA was hoping those industries will shift to the USA. But most of them did not do so. Instead, some went to China where energy is cheap and labor still not as expensive as moving to the USA. Businesspeople knew that if they relocate to USA, they will die sitting up.

Lithuania wanted to antagonize China by allowing Taiwan to open a representative office in Vilnius under the name Taiwan. China cuts off ties with Lithuania, refusing to have further engagement to reset ties, and Lithuania's economy took a nosedive. Do you think Lithuania did all this itself? Even the mighty Germans and French do not think it wise to antagonize China, so what does a minnow in EU like Lithuania hope to achieve?
The Netherlands tried to seize a Chinese semiconductor company, Nexperia, which backfired. They seized a nameplate and address instead, with the main manufacturing all located inside China, which were told just to ignore the orders of the Dutch HQ in the Netherlands. Nexperia's owner, Wingtech Technology Company had been on the USA's entity list earlier and the Dutch Government was trying to carry favor with the USA by seizing Nexperia to control vehicle dependence on its semiconductor technology.
The Dutch are going to find out they owe China much more than just the actions taken against China by ASML and Nexperia. These will be repaid with interest when chips can be made beyond the ASMC EUV machines. It is just a matter of time. When China succeeds in making its own EUV machines and flooding the market like everything else, ASML is going to die of old age like Kodak and some ICE vehicle makers, no matter how prestigious they once were.
SMIC is already making 5 nm chips using DUV machines that China has in abundance, secured over the years. China's progress is making ASML and the USA nervous and paranoid. They can keep claiming that China's progress is nothing extraordinary nor relevant but just costly. Well, we shall see when the shit hits the fan. Action speaks louder than words. China can bring down cost with its abundant cheap energy and talented engineers.
We have already seen that in the field of space exploration, high-speed railways, hypersonic missiles, drones, shipbuilding, renewable energy infrastructures, agriculture and aquaculture progress and energy exploration and innovation both renewal and traditional.
Did anyone care to watch that piece by Statrys', titled 'Now it's the West copying China (but they'll never admit it)? What progress China is making will never be admitted, not until the shit already hits the fan. Then they will try to contain the fallout by sanctioning, tariffing and demonization. By then, it will be too little too late.
