Only for exceptional cases, every parent, mother or father, would want the best for their children, would want to do whatever they can for their children, selling their homes to finance their children's tertiary education, here or overseas. Some parents would want to sacrifice their lives, go with little or less for their children. This is human instinct to ensure a specie continues to thrive and survive in the face of hardship.
I still could not get over it when I recalled the poor mother that wanted to help her child to get a good place in a good school and was jailed for 7 days, like a hardcore criminal, because the law is the law. And 7 days jail was lenient and could be worst. KNNBCCB. She is still an admirable mother that deserved respect for what she is, a mother.
Breaking the law, gaming the system are not encouraged or condoned. Think of the millions of cheats that faked their qualifications and resumes and not caught in Singapore, sidelining well qualified Singaporeans into temp work or gig workers! This is another KNNBCCB situation.
A mother's love for her child is priceless, cannot be measured in monetary terms. Tiger mums did it for their children to be better in life. Have a heart to the poor mothers that are struggling and fighting tooth and nail for their children. Don't be cruel to the mothers.

If they want to follow everything to the letter, replace the lot with an app linked to AI. Then no one can say they are given the best. Compassion is not available in AI as it's just a glorified database with zillions of data points available to access at lightning speed.
So next time the little red dot goes to vote they can select PM, PMplus, PMextra etc...
And these PMs run 24 hours a day without any pay or rest. Just electricity.
We may come to that stage and there is no way to turn back. Human extinction is not a far fetch idea after all. No need nuclear wars, asteroid slamming into earth or another ice age or poles melting.
Totally agree with Mr Red bean about the greatness of mother's love towards her child. Let's not forget about father's love towards a child as most fathers struggled in the daily rat race to bring bread & butter on the table, they also have to compete with this vicious cycle of endless competition both internally ( with foreigners colleagues or bosses) and externally ( competitive business environment with technological challenges like AI or even structural changes). Some fathers might be even short changed or get retrenched due to redundancy or wrongly dismissed due to their age ..the list goes on. Being a father on this island state is very stressful & one needs to be strong to cope with daily challenges...when a rice bowl is broken, it's very hard to rebound to the employment status again although some may be lucky, some even become underemployed or become grab riders, security guards, cleaners,part timers... it's a sad life here in this tiny island where ones has no way out but to hang on to jobs that they don't like just to stay afloat..
The fathers, the main bread winner and the Singaporean men in general, are the victims of the system. Men hitting 40 or more will live a life of fear, fear from being retrenched and become jobless...and facing a family to feed and mortgages still outstanding.
Long live the foreign talents.

A 22-year-old British man has pleaded guilty after assaulting a 66-year-old private-hire driver in Singapore, who later died about a year after suffering a fractured skull.
The incident happened in June 2024 after the passenger reached home and allegedly got angry because the driver woke him up from his sleep. CCTV showed him calmly taking off his headphones before rushing towards the elderly driver, who then fell and hit his head.
The prosecution originally charged him with voluntarily causing grievous hurt. But because the evidence could not prove beyond reasonable doubt exactly how the skull fracture happened, the charge was reduced to using criminal force, which he admitted to.
