A regime change is what Israel wanted most of all. A change of regime in Iran with the installation of a pro-USA stooge suits Israel. And who is most suited for the stooge position is, undoubtedly if I am not wrong, the son of the former Shah, a pro-USA stooge as well.
Moreover, a change of regime in Iran will remove all the threat to Israel and allow it to lord over the Middle East. It also removes all the support to the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah, all of which are thorns in the side of Israel. Who else among the Arabs and Muslims can replace the Iranians to counter the Israelis?
It is significant that Russia and China are going to ensure that the regime in Iran does not collapse. Putin already said that Russia will step in if its interest and ties with and in Iran is threatened. So does China, although not similarly expressed. But the USA already knew that China would step in just as in Korea and Vietnam when China's interest is at stake.

Iran must never fall. The situation in the Middle East is skewed towards Israel lording over the Araba and Muslims. If the USA were to develop Gaza, with USA interests sunk into the country, do the Arabs and Muslims realize that the USA is setting up shop in the Middle East on the pretext of redeveloping the Gaza strip. Then the two evils will be able to dictate all they want without Iran left to counter.
