Howard Zin has made a big (cognitive) error in his underlying assumption about being critical of existing society -- as every good progressive ought to be.
The error is this: to be a good critic, a good scrutineer...you first must have the skills and the training to be able to THINK CRITICALLY.
Critical thinking is so "unnatural", Skeptic Dictionary editor and author Bob Carroll titled his book to reflect that fact
