Algeria largely meets the conditions for joining BRICS already, Tebboune said on Sunday in an interview with a state-owned broadcaster. The group is named for its member states – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – and it plans to consider adding Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt at its summit next year.

This year’s BRICS summit, which was held online in June, was expanded to include participation from 13 other countries, including Algeria. Tebboune was the first guest to speak, calling for “a new economic order where parity and equity between countries will reign.”
“Our past experiences have shown us that the imbalance recorded on the international scene and the marginalization of emerging countries within world bodies constitute a source of instability, lack of equity and absence of development,” the Algerian president added.
BRICS nations already account for more than 40% of the world’s population. The bloc’s stated goals are to promote peace, security, development, global cooperation and development of humanity. Iran and Argentina formally applied to join the group in June. RT
The emergence of BRICS as an alternative to the western control international organisations is gaining momentum. Thanks to the reckless and irresponsible disregard of the role of international organisations by the US and western bloc of countries. The Americans and the West have repeatedly abused their power and control of international organisations at the expense and detriment of smaller non western states.
The frustration and disappointment of non western countries of the bully and irrelevance of western control international organisations have reached a breaking point that mere disillusion is an understatement. Countries of the rest of the world are looking for alternative international bodies where their interests can be protected and where they can be treated as equals among equals, not being told what to do or else by the bullying Americans and the West.
Many countries have seen the need for BRICS to play a bigger role to represent their interest, where they could have a fair and bigger voice and not just token membership, not to be seen and not to be heard. Smaller states now have an alternative organisation that they could really call their own and belong. More and more countries are now knocking at the door of BRICS to apply for membership. If the trend continues, BRICS could eventually gain enough membership to replace the UN and other western controlled bodies and be truly an international organisation for the countries of the world.
The rise of BRICS and other similar organisations would ring the death bell for the likes of the UN, WHO, IMF, World Bank etc etc. Those western controlled organisations are looking so farcical and hypocritical and totally irrelevant. All the war crimes committed by the Americans and western countries have been totally ignored. The death and destruction of non western countries, particularly the Arab and Muslim countries were simply treated as war collateral and even said their deaths were worth it to serve the interest of the white men. The daily massacre of Palestinians, Syrians, Iraqis, Yemenis and many others are going on and on, without a word of condemnation from these western controlled organisations. On the other hand these western controlled organisations were chasing after fake and fabricated crimes invented by the white men eg WMD, Xinjiang genocide, virus came from China not the Fort Detrick, not from Ukraine etc etc.
There will be BRICS and more BRICS related organisations coming up to replace the rotten and wicked old world organisations and world order.
The weakness of BRICS is India, which is bent on sabotaging China's proposals in BRICS meetings. US-India military drills focused on high-altitude warfare training will be held in October in the Himalayas near the disputed border with China.
ReplyDeleteIndia proposed using Indian rupee in its trade with Russia, but Moscow is horrified by the Indian proposal because the sick rupee keeps hitting historical lows in recent months.
The Indians want to pay for Russian goods in rupees, but the Russian merchants exclaimed: "NO, thank you! Please use the yuan! "
ReplyDeleteIt is so much easier for the Indians to take over US or UK than to take over China. They should not try to waste their time and resources to take on China and embarrass themselves again and again.
ReplyDeleteJust put all their resources to attack weak enemies like US and UK or perhaps Singapore. All ripe for the taking. UK almost in India's hands and a little more effort is all that it needed.
Singapore is de facto oredy taken over by India.
NTUC . . .
ReplyDeleteRight, Argentina and Iran are also joining the BRICS. Anon 8.55 hit the nail on the head, highlighting the fact that India is the weakness in the grouping. The double headed snake may be up to no good and other members have to be very careful. It is even a member of the QUAD, a hardcore anti China grouping, and it is a dumb expectation that they will be loyal to the BRICS. They are just looking at which direction the wind blows and will bend with the wind and follow and support whoever wins.
ReplyDeleteThe Indians are playing both sides, Russia against the USA. The USA and the West knows the big potential market in India and are afraid to put their foot down, even when India bought more and more oil and gas from Russia. On the other hand, India have been depending on Russia for military hardware for decades, and it is not in their interest to antagonise Russia, knowing Russia is a close ally of China.
Pray that the BRICS succeed in breaking away from the SWIFT system and create their own global currency backed solidly by gold and other precious minerals. That would be a cause for the world to celebrate.
To be a member of both US-led QUAD and anti-US BRICS confirms India is indeed a double-headed snake !
ReplyDeleteThe snake is playing both sides. Both sides also playing with the snake.
ReplyDeleteWho would come up the winner? The two sides, after defeating the other side, will go after the snake.
The snake hopes the two sides would kill each other, then the snake triumphs.
This is like Romance of the three Kingdoms. Only difference is that there are four parties involved.
Indeed, there is no proof needed about the snake being a double headed snake.
ReplyDeleteNobody in the world would be so foolish to use the rupees. The value of the rupees keeps going down.
ReplyDeleteUnlike the "yuan". Its value keeps going up and up. So much so China has to keep it under control.
Is it possible that India joining the BRICS to create trouble so that BRICS fails in its mission to be the alternative of the US led system? Maybe India is there to make sure BRICS fails. Uncle RB, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteIndia thinks everyone is stupid and it can take advantage of everyone, that everyone needs to carry India's balls.
ReplyDeleteBoth the USA and Russia are just making use of India in this delicate balance. Once India's usefulness expires, they will kick its ass.
Let me see.
ReplyDeleteIn BRICS' meeting: India assured everyone it is friend and would not tell the Americans what they discussed or planned to do against the Americans.
In QUAD meeting: India said it is friends of America and would not tell the BRICS members what they discussed or planned to do against the BRICS members.
So India knows the plans of both sides. And both sides trusted India as a friend and would not betray them.
How's that?
Meaning of "double-headed snake" (兩頭蛇) : a person who plays both sides, having an axe to grind
ReplyDeleteIndia plays both sides QUAD and BRICS.
India has an axe to grind against China after 21 Indian soldiers lost their lives in the June 2020 clash along the nation’s Himalayan border with China.
India perfectly fits the definition of "double-headed snake" !
I think we need to look at the oil and gas market in a more discerning light. India could have been buying highly discounted Russian oil, with some being sold to the USA and the West discreetly. What happened to the warning given to India earlier about their buying more of Russian oil? Seems eerily quiet on the Western front. It must be mutually beneficial, so no quarrel about that. It is now a win win situation for three parties - Russia, USA and the West.
ReplyDeleteSaudi Arabia, a major oil producer itself, is suspected, or should I say already known, to be buying discounted Russian oil too to sell to the West. Just imagine that! In fact Saudi Arabia does not even have to increase production themselves. Pledging increase of 100,000 a day is like a drop in the ocean, attempting to increase it's water level just to please the USA. In this case, it is also a win win situation - for Russia, USA and the West.
The whole world had probably been taken for a ride using arbitrarily created shortage, thereby providing an excuse to blame inflation on oil and gas shortage. OPEC and Russia is still producing the same volume of oil and gas, only shifting markets from West to East in the case of Russia. The most ironical twist was the claim that the USA even sold oil to China, while claiming shortage at home. Can you believe that?
India's anger with China is about 1962, the most disastrous and humiliating military defeat in the history of warfare. A war they planned and started but lost. Till today their public position is that it was started by China when all the facts and events said that they started the whole war.
ReplyDeleteBut India would not admit so and continues to use this war to stir anti China nationalistic fervour and hate. They cannot stand up to face this truth and admit that they were the cause of it. They continue to live in this lie, to blame China, not themselves, not Nehru.
The Indians are said to believe any negative Western propaganda when it comes to China, but will not believe Western propaganda when it comes to a positive take on Ukraine. That is the Indian mindset and will be difficult to unraveled or reverse.
ReplyDeleteSuffice to say, including a Indian Trojan Horse in the BRICS is not a good idea.
That defeat in 1962 plus the wide gulf in economic progress between China and India is something the Indians can never come to admit. But that is the truth and cannot be denied.
ReplyDeleteAnd does that not mean anything about the two country's political system? How could the world's largest democracy not been able to do better than a communist state? That truly hurts!
ReplyDeleteIndia likes to boast that it is a nuclear state. But its nuclear bombs are measured in kilotons, while China's nuclear bombs are measured in megatons, ie thermal nuclear.
ReplyDeleteAn Indian nuclear missile would destroy at most part of a Chinese city, but a Chinese nuclear missile would destroy the whole Indian city.
As in Europe, notice that the USA is slowly moving military logistics into close proximity to confront China, riding on the Chinese response to Nancy Pelosi trip to Taiwan. It is all rigged to enable the USA to justify stationing more weapons closer to China. All those talk about protecting Taiwan and protecting democracy are just excuses and they really want a war now, if possible today.
ReplyDeleteThat they have been continuously provoking and prodding but failed to ignite the fuse shows their desperation and will go all out to create a major accident. It is all in their mindset when they want a war - creating a 'Pearl Harbour' moment or a 911 event that started the ball rolling.
India should be told to choose side, either a QUAD member of a member of BRICS. Cannot be in both. Period !!!
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate that India is not part of the BRI. It was heaven's blessing that they did not join.
