The Ministry of Health (MOH) said it expects the number of cases to rise sharply.
“Cases could double every two to three days and could reach 10,000 to 15,000, or even more, cases per day,” the ministry said in a media release....
SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 3,155 new COVID-19 infections as of noon on Friday (Jan 21), comprising 2,794 local infections and 361 imported ones.
The surge in the number of new cases, considering Thursday's figure was just 1,472, is due to the inclusion of the number of Protocol 2 cases in its daily updates, said the Ministry of Health (MOH)....
Earlier on Friday, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said during a
multi-ministry task force news conference that reporting the number of
Protocol 2 cases would give "a better picture of the epidemic situation
in Singapore and which part of the curve we are on".
Above were reported in the CNA.
Interesting to note that the number of mild cases ie Protocol 2, were not included in the reporting. Like that also can. What else were not reported? Statistics don't lie.
Anyway, relative comparison, the Americans have a population of about 3m versus Singapore's 6m. America has 1.4m daily cases. If Singapore has the same population of the Americans, ie 50 times bigger, the number of infected cases would be 50 x 3,000 = 150,000 cases and would be 50 x 10,000 = 500,000 cases. Both number would still be lower than the American's. But why the Americans did not classify themselves as high risk but Singapore as high risk and telling their citizens to avoid Singapore? Is it because they did not like us and putting pressure trying to influence our niceness towards them?
Now, in the same vein, India has a population of 1.3b and about 350,000 daily cases. India pop is about 200 time bigger than Singapore. The equivalent cases would be 200 x 3,000 = 600,000 cases or 200 x 10,000 = 2m cases. Wow, these numbers would not look nice and the Americans would not only banned their people from coming here but likely to ban Singaporeans entering the USA.
But no need to worry about India. The Indians die die would want to come to Singapore, their heaven on earth. They would flood Singapore and take over the island even if we have 2 m cases a day. Indians simply love Singapore, and also Singapore loves Indians. With this kind of lover relationship, Singapore would never be short of Indians and the all job vacancies would easily be filled if open to Indians, from the President, PM, CEOs down to the cleaners and workers.
Singapore is so lucky to have India on the standby waiting to take over everything Singaporeans did not want to do, including CEOs of banks and industries, and President and PM and Ministers. India Indians are not like Singapore Indians, so shy, PM job also don't want. India Indians would gasak everything whether Singaporeans likes it or not. Yes, they are hungry, damn bloody hungry.
High number of infection is likely with legs spread wide. Sin, like a desperate whore, has no choice as it is caught between the devil and deep blue sea.
ReplyDeleteHowever,
for the Sin Regime to put the wellbeing and safety of the people behind economic viability is tantamount to a greatest sin. Ultimately, the Pandemic shall come to an end and or overcome. There is no need to sacrifice the peoles' wellbeing abd life to wait for the abation of the killer disease.
If trade negotiator can tackle public health issues, then pigs can fly !
ReplyDeleteJobs creation is the biggest national issue in India. From the villages of India, from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh and the foothills of the Himalayas, ambitious young Indians want opportunities to acquire skills and a chance at upward mobility.
ReplyDeleteSingapore, increasingly like Mauritius, is a beacon of hope for them !
The main concern is that this is a zero sum game. More jobs go to foreigners, less jobs to Singaporeans. More good jobs go to foreigners, less good jobs go to Singaporeans.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately imbeciles do not understand this formula or too busy protecting their million dollar salaries. More foreigners, more secure for million dollar salaries.
Singaporeans you die you business. PMETs go upgrade to become cleaning supervisors or nurses or security guard supervisors. Or better still, be independent and self employed as grab drivers.
Get rich.
ReplyDeleteThen you don't have to mental masturbate or KPKB about foreigners taking away your jobs.
In fact, you'll want even more foreigners coming here since it will be YOUR companies or YOUR investments hiring all these cheaper & better foreigners.
SELF-CHECK:
Those of you with maids. Why you hire cheap foreigners? Why not hire local Sinkies @ $3K-$4K per month? Who are educated, speak the same languages, understand your local culture, and can anticipate & interpret the needs of your young kids & elderly parents much better?
See??? You yourself already know why companies, PAPies, and S'pore Inc hire foreigners. IT'S BECAUSE YOU ALL ALSO HAVE THE SAME MENTALITY.
Regarding nurses, PAP govt LONG TIME AGO decided to focus on CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP, by importing tons of 3rd world nurses & paying them 3rd world salaries and 1% annual increments.
Local sinkies after 1990 who ended up in nursing were almost all due to No Choice. Not "passion" or "desire to help the sick" bullshit. Hence the result that most local Sinkie nurses in hospital wards have pretty bad attitudes, and after 3 years almost all fuck off to other industries or jobs in polyclinics/specialist outpatient clinics/private medical centers where there is no 3-shifts but instead have normal 5-day working hours.
But this created 2 problems:
1. Need to train & re-train lower-quality foreign nurses, which is time consuming and can be costly too. Many of these foreign nurses also fuck off to US or Oz for 4X salaries after gaining experience and serving their bonded service in S'pore.
2. Fragile nursing supply from ACCEPTABLE 3rd world countries whose economies are also improving, and demanding starting salaries are going up year by year.
Covid has really skyrocketed Point #2.
PAP govt has now made the calculation (miscalculation?) that S'pore needs to strengthen local sinkie nursing supply. Hence salaries of nurses have been going up quite a lot in recent years, especially since Covid.
Starting nursing salary this year is about $3K basic excluding shift allowances & weekend and public holiday pay that can add another $500-$1000 each month. And this is for Diploma nurses. Degree nurses from NUS will get much higher.
Diploma nurses this year are getting starting salaries similar to Arts & Social Science degree graduates. The aim is to get starting pay of Diploma nurses to be the same as average NUS/NTU/SMU degree graduate by 2025.
Of course don't expect to pay same price for govt hospitals & polyclinics. LOL!

"In Singapore, they don’t fool around on housing.
ReplyDeleteWhile Canadian housing prices are shooting into the stratosphere largely due to an unprecedented surge by investors, Ottawa has done little to ease the destructive trend.
In Singapore, politicians are combating price jumps with dramatic taxes aimed at curbing speculation by both local and global investors, the latter made up mostly of people from China, the U.S. and India.
The southeast Asian city-state announced in December it will slap a 17 per cent tax on Singapore citizens who buy a second property and 25 per cent tax on their third property. Canada needs to take heed."

S'pore undertaker urges people to vaccinate now, or else, they've a vested interest if you're not
ReplyDeleteLocal funeral services provider Ang Chin Moh Funeral Directors would like the public to know that vaccination against Covid-19 is important, or else, they are here to cater to your final needs.
On Jan. 15, the funeral services provider put up a Facebook post of an Instagram Story by Class 95 DJs The Muttons, who took a photo of the slogan on an Ang Chin Moh van.
The Muttons pointed out that the undertaker's clever message, "Vaccinate Now! Because We Care!", prompted people to take note of the undertaker's services, while providing a public service announcement.
Ang Chin Moh wrote:
Thanks Muttons In The Morning for sharing our community message! Ang Chin Moh Funeral Directors strongly believes in helping Singapore in our fight against the pandemic. We are playing our part by encouraging more people to get their vaccinations. 😊
The undertaker's other vehicles have also been spotted by members of the public.
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) data, the chances of unvaccinated Covid-19 patients needing ICU care or dying is "many times" more than that of the fully vaccinated.
Message from undertaker highlights "dire consequences"
Ang Chin Moh Funeral Directors began including the vaccination message on their vehicles as early as October 2021.
Ang Ziqian, the managing director of the company said he decided to start a campaign urging people to get vaccinated due to the rise of Covid-19-related deaths, CNA reported.
Ang opined that if the message came from a funeral company like his, it would emphasise the "dire consequences" of remaining unvaccinated.
He added that frontline workers would be "overwhelmed" if infection numbers continue to rise, and employees in the funeral services industry would be the next to be overwhelmed if there was an increase in deaths.
848 died of Covid-19 complications
As of Jan. 24, 848 people in Singapore have succumbed to Covid-19 complications, according to MOH.
