Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday warned the Centre of a new variant of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) found in Singapore and said that it can result in India's third wave.
The virus, Kejriwal said, is extremely dangerous for children and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to immediately halt air services with Singapore and prioritise vaccination drive for children.
"The new form of Corona that came to Singapore is being said to be extremely dangerous for children, in India it may come as a third wave. My appeal to the central government are air services with Singapore to be cancelled with immediate effect and prioritise the options for vaccinating children at the earliest," the Delhi chief minister tweeted.

Did I read it right, the variant that came from India to Singapore is very dangerous to children, especially in India, and could result in India's third wave? And Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwalis telling Modi to stop flights from Singapore to India? And Singapore is still not banning travel to and from India and still allowing flights from India to come to Singapore?
What is going on? India more dangerous or Singapore more dangerous? New Delhi's chief minister could see how dangerous this variant is and wanted to protect the children of India! Did our millionaires also know how dangerous this variant is and want to do something to protect our children from it, or never mind, it would not affect us, it would not affect our children. They know best? Our children would not be affected?
How many school children here already affected huh?
What do you think?
PS. Thanks for the leg up on this article.
Basically, India gives the B.1.617 mutant variant to Singapore. Then India says it is a Singapore virus.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how the India-loving PAP ministers react!
ReplyDeleteWonder what Bukit Batok MP Murali Pillai has to say on this?!
ReplyDeleteAustralian Indian community are feeling like second-class citizens |

They throw their faeces at us, then they say that's our own faeces!
ReplyDeleteThe Singaporean Variant could be a mutation of the Indian variant. Is that why the PAP govt is giving vaccine for the children age 12 to 15. If this is the case then the PAP govt must reveal this to the Singaporeans. Don't hide, remember the " editorial integrity " saga with the umbrage being made the buzz word.
ReplyDeleteThe new mutant variant B.1.617.S (B for Bombay; S for Singapore)
ReplyDeleteSomeone says the Govt is practising favoritism to Indians by allowing short term visit pass to relations of new citizens and PRs of Indian origin as against that of Malaysians despite the more infectious and deadly virus raging in India.
ReplyDeleteIf indeed its true, Indian has a peculiar way of paying gratitude to their benefactors. They did the same to China which was the first country and one that sent the most medical aid and equipment to help them fight the variant of Covid19. Now their media and some politicians are accusing China of hyping up the prices when the culprits were their own Indian middlemen. And also maligning China for delivering defective equipment that caused more deaths.
Just look at our Ministers, always defensive to say the new measures are not targeted at any country or refusing to even India by name, just South Asia. Why are they so afraid they may offend them?
And now closing of borders has been recommended by the Indian side, the authority should not waste time to keep our people safe.
Ya, why huh?
ReplyDeleteBecause pro-India Sinkies Indian who are holding top key positions are controlling immigration.
ReplyDeleteAlso immigration officials are comprised of many Indian Sinkies.
Chinese Sinkies top key posts holders are Big Bananas. They "Bo Chap" (no hue) because they are "Bo Lin Chor" (don't recognise ancestors) already.
The pro-India Sinkies Indians must have a bigger say over the useless Chinese Big Bananas. Otherwise, how can such obvious and open bias displayed so boldly for the world to see?
Something is not right? Could be the Indian Sinkies are running the Gabrament now?
Don't know got Corruption or not? Worrying whether someone got give bribery or not?
Seems very suspicious case, is it not???
What u expect? So many Indians now u proportionally holding top leadership.
ReplyDeleteSome more, one minister can hold both Law and Home Affairs at same time for some many years now.
More powerful than PM, you know? Every time, big controversial issues, hear him talk first. PM keep quiet like a mouse.
ReplyDeleteThe 4G politicians are less than mediocre and yet they still want to cling to their million dollars salaries. I am afraid if they cannot solve this disaster they may take their millions and run road with nonsensical excuses and leave Singapore to fate. Shame on the whole lot of them.Only know how to collect millions but show incompetence and irresponsibility.
Time to exorst the spirit of the First Generation leaders to come and save Singapore.
A fearful and terrified Singaporean. Just like all other Singaporeans I really don't know what to do.
Hi all,
ReplyDeletePlease discuss objectively and not to go down the road of racism.
Thanks.

Covid-19: No Such Thing As Singapore Variant, All New Variants Are Exported From India To Singapore!
ReplyDeleteThe Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has refuted news reports in India claiming of a "Singapore variant" of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19.
MOH said that there is no truth whatsoever in the assertions found within the news reports in India.
“There is no ‘Singapore variant’,” MOH said in a statement issued on Tuesday night (18 May 2021).
The ministry was referring to two reports published in India on 18 May 2021.
The first was in 'Hindustan' , an English-language news daily, with the headline "Coronavirus Variant Found in Singapore Can Be India's 3rd Wave, Extremely Dangerous For Kids, warns Arvind Kejriwal".
The other falsehood was publicised on NDTV, titled “Stop Singapore Flights: Arvind Kejriwal To Centre Over New Covid Strain”.
New Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 18 May has warned of a new strain of the coronavirus found in Singapore and said that it can result in India's third wave of infections.
The virus, Kejriwal said, is extremely dangerous for children and he asked the central government led by India's prime minister Narendra Modi to immediately halt air services with Singapore and prioritise vaccination drive for children.
"The new form of coronavirus in Singapore is said to be very dangerous for children. It could reach Delhi in the form of a third wave. My appeal to the Central government:
1. Cancel all air services with Singapore with immediate effect.
2. Work on vaccine alternatives for children on a priority basis," the Delhi Chief Minister posted on Twitter in Hindi.
He is from Aam Admi Party, which is a rival of Mr Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
In its response, MOH said: “The strain that is prevalent in many of the Covid-19 cases in recent weeks is the B1617.2 variant, which originated in India.
“Phylogenetic testing has shown this B1617.2 variant to be associated with several clusters in Singapore.”
Comment
It is very clear that this new B1.6172 Variant has originated in India and has been transferred, exported, transmitted, distributed, conveyed, or carried in persons to Singapore. It is not the other way around.
Those who said there is a new Variant from Singapore going to India are spreading falsehood.
Such lies must be stopped!
Either cancel CECA, or cancel NS . .
ReplyDeleteNot too long ago we had a musician from India spreading lies about a Singapore national song. Now we have a Chief Minister from India spreading lies about a Singapore national virus.
ReplyDeleteThe news is spreading round the globe. India is now a laughing stock! Comment on SCMP says it's best joke of the week!
