Covid19 - Singapore under foreign pressure to choose vaccines?

SINGAPORE — The delivery of the Chinese-made Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine to Singapore prior to an assessment by the authorities for its use here was based on a bilateral commercial contract, and did not involve any "coercion" or "influence by other bodies", said a top health official on Wednesday (24 March).

The Ministry of Health (MOH) director of medical services Kenneth Mak was responding to media queries on whether Singapore was unable to turn down the delivery of Sinovac's CoronaVac because it wanted to avoid upsetting the Chinese government.  Yahoo News

The above Yahoo news implied that Singapore was under pressure for taking delivery of Chinese vaccines. And the Singapore govt had to explain that it was not. Why didn't they asked, was Singapore under pressure by foreign govts not to use Chinese vaccines and not to approve Sinovac or to deliberately delay its approval and use?

Or why didn't these reporters be asking if Singapore was pressured to use western vaccines, to quickly approve the use of these western vaccines that were only approved for emergency use after a warp speed bypass without going through the proper procedures. And to make matter more serious, these are untested vaccines, using these vaccines would put the people into uncharted territories that would take years to confirm its safety or otherwise.

Of course the manufacturers would say it is very safe, that the mRNA would be destroyed by the antibodies triggered. Is that so? The main purpose of the mRNA is to induce the body to produce more mRNAs to trigger the body immune system to produce anti bodies to fight it. Two possibilities can happen. If too much mRNAs are produced. Two, not enough antibodies are produced to kill all the mRNAs. Any mRNAs not killed or destroyed would stay in the body to produce more mRNAs.  That is its job. What would happen to the recipients if this happened?

The body will continue to produce mRNAs nonstop and at the same time to produce antibodies nonstop in an unending process, causing extreme stress to the body system. What then?

And the possibility of mutation of DNAs cannot be ruled out. This could be the beginning of human civilisation injecting voluntarily, DNA bending material into the human body, planting the seed of mutation that no one can predict the consequences.

Is any country pressuring Singapore to use mRNA vaccines on its people instead of Sinovac vaccine that is based on dead Covid19 virus? It is looking more like Singapore is being pressured by some countries not to use Sinovac vaccine?

The question posed to the Task Force was politically loaded to imply that the Task Force was compromised in their choice of Sinovac and the poor buggers furiously trying to explain away the allegation.  They forgot to ask the reporter what was his agenda or motive to frame such a question. The answer is obvious. The question was a warning to Singapore not to use Sinovac vaccine or it would be seen and reported that Singapore was pressured to do so.  Would Singapore acquiesce to this demand and reject the Sinovac vaccine so as not to offend the party making the demand?

Now which country/countries are politicising the use and distribution of vaccines? Many European countries were under political pressure not to use the Chinese or Russian vaccines even when available while the western vaccines were not available to them.  This political game of life and death is highly irresponsible and reckless as innocent lives could be lost because of it.

Singapore must not be caught by this irresponsible western political game on the use of vaccines.

What do you think? What is the agenda?

  1. I sense from various indicators, without requiring their expressed statements, that the Singapore leaders have been pressured either directly or indirectly to not use the Covid-19 vaccines provided by China and Russia.

It does not make any sense that the Chinese and Russian vaccines based on tried, established vaccines production systems and have been produced way ahead of the Western untried, experimental, "For-Emergency-Use-Only" mRNA vaccines, have not been studied an investigated until now.

  2. The simple fact that many millions in China and other countries are using Sinovac with no adverse effects would be enough proof of its safety and efficacy. Many leaders of bigger countries have also been injected with Sinovac and have no adverse side effects.

What is said and not said are obvious to discerning observers.

China’s vaccine diplomacy stumbles as clinical trial data remains absent
Shibani Mahtani (Indian origin), Washington Post (US paper) March 23

Last month, a shipment of Sinovac coronavirus vaccine doses arrived without fanfare in Singapore from China.

Today, the vaccine sits unused in a storage facility. The wealthy city-state is moving ahead with Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna shots for its coronavirus immunization program, with officials saying Sinovac needs to provide more data before they will consider rolling out its doses.

The case highlights the limitations of Beijing’s vaccine diplomacy. China’s lack of transparency in its clinical trials has hurt public confidence, even as national leaders from Indonesia to Sierra Leone have gotten the shots to rally their populations to do the same.

China’s coronavirus vaccine makers Sinovac and Sinopharm were among the earliest in the world to begin clinical trials last year. It remains unclear why they still have not published the data from the studies, even after dozens of governments have greenlighted their vaccines for emergency use.

“It’s extremely unusual,” said Peter English, a British expert in communicable-disease control, of the widespread use of these vaccines before the publication of peer-reviewed data. “It leaves a lot of questions.”

There have been signs the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines are less effective than hoped, even as Beijing is pushing for foreigners to use them and enjoy streamlined access to resume travel to China. This week, Sinopharm’s distributor in the United Arab Emirates said a “very small number” of people are being invited to take a third dose of the vaccine after insufficient antibody response from the first two doses.

State-owned pharma giant Sinopharm has self-reported a 79 percent efficacy rate. Smaller rival Sinovac’s efficacy rate has varied in trials from 50.4 percent in Brazil — barely above the 50 percent threshold that governments find usable — to over 80 percent in Turkey.

Chong Ja Ian, an associate professor of political science at the National University of Singapore, said Singapore’s government did not turn down the Sinovac vaccine, which would be an affront to Beijing, but regulators also couldn’t approve its use on such limited data.

Other countries with larger populations and fewer options have accepted China’s vaccines, sometimes after considerable griping from top leaders.

Brazil, South America’s most populous country, has adopted Sinovac’s vaccine after initial resistance from President Jair Bolsonaro. The Philippines accepted a donation of Sinovac vaccines from China last month, despite President Rodrigo Duterte saying he personally wants to take a different Chinese vaccine, according to Reuters.

  4. Note every paragraph written by the reporter in the WP article is tainted with something negative, so very biased reporting . .

  5. Every article appearing in the Western MSM is now about highlighting the good points and suppressing the bad about vaccines from the West.

Conversely, every article appearing in the Western MSM is now about highlighting the bad points and suppressing the good about Chinese vaccines.

Just these two lines sums up all about the agenda of those articles, so is there a need to read Western propaganda?

  6. Only western countries and cronies of America are suppressing the use of China and Russian vaccines. They have put pressure on their crony countries and the cronies cannot say no to them.

The dangers of injecting mRNAs are yet to be fully established. Only time will tell. Perhaps this could be God's way of destroying the western civilisations by their own decision to inject themselves with their own not fully tested vaccines. They did it voluntarily. No one can force them to do so.

There will be collateral damages to their cronies.

  7. Washington Post with Indian writer, what can you expect?

  8. I am tempted to delete the Washington Post article but decided to leave it to let readers see the one sided biases.

Anon 9:55am pointed out an important point. 50 years from now the media could be reporting about what happened today, why the westerners were so stupid to inject themselves with mRNAs.

  9. When they have USA leaders like Trump suggesting injecting insecticides to kill the COVID19 virus, what else can beat the stupidity of that remark?

If Trump can make such a lurid suggestion, Big Pharmas must have taken a leaf from Trump's remark and think that little harm will come about with mRNA vaccine's DNA alteration technique, which may only be visible decades down the road. After all, there is the 'no liability' clause to turn to for protection.

  10. From that article...'The case highlights the limitation of Beijing's vaccine diplomacy'.

Just 200K doses not utilised pending further evaluation is a limitation of Beijing's vaccine diplomacy? Hogwash! What about the millions of doses of Chinese vaccines that many countries have already used? What about the millions of doses of vaccines from the West being hoarded by some Western countries, found lying in warehouses and not used?

If there is really a limitation of Beijing's vaccine diplomacy, why is there a need for the USA and India talking about countering China's vaccine diplomacy? Does not add up!

  11. More than 60 countries are happily using Chinese vaccines. What limitations is the snake talking about?

    1. Yes, Indonesia and Malaysia are already administering Sinovac vaccines so why is approval in Singapore taking so long?

  12. The segment was on Youtube where a foreign journalist was insinuating China pressure with a political question in a basically health briefing.

In the comments that followed, many defended the govt and chastised the journalist. Of course there were a few white worshipping bananas who defended the reporter and reasoned it was a fair question as we should be transparent in our democracy.
Our transparent democracy? Was it supposed to be a joke?

  13. The official cock would crow, we are an independent cuntry and would not bow to pressure by anyone. We are so transparent until can see everything, like emperor never wear clothes.

  14. Rb since we are already oldies plus we are not given a choice, many of us have taken the Pfizer shot. This is weight against the risk of getting covid. But under no circumstances we allow our kids to take it. We told them to take the china vaccine else don't take at all. This is our strategy.

    1. Virgo. I actually have not experienced any side effect not even sore arm. But what it will do to your body few years down the road no one knows
Hence told the kids only to take the chinese vaccine as they are young so risk of illness if infected is low

  15. I have not gone for my jab though the first batch invited. Yes, we were invited to go for the jab and can decline the invitation. Not no choice. No one in his right mind would dare to make it compulsory for people to be injected with an experimental drug like mRNA. It would be totally irresponsible to do so. No one can be sure of what kind of adverse effects a few years down the road.

Though I am passed 70 and need not be bothered about 10 years or longer down the line, not sure when would kick the bucket, I do not see the urgency to get a jab as the situation here is not dire. Only desperate countries like the USA, UK and Europe are panicking as the situation there is out of control and an emergency drug or any drug would do, and are forcing their people to get jab, taking a risk that they calculated is better than not taking. We are not in such a desperate scenario.

I will wait for the Chinese vaccine, hopefully the single dose type.

    Cheers.

  16. The Five Eyes, their intelligence agencies and friends are pulling all possible strings to win the markets for their vaccines. The continuous delaying of the official EU authorization for Sputnik V is obviously a part of this sabotage scheme.

That these efforts will keep people away from other good and available vaccines and that this will inevitably cost a number of them their lives, is seen as a reasonable price for gaining vaccine supremacy.

  17. One Tanjong Pagar MP reported saying she let others take the jab first, then she wait and see. Waiting for 80% herd immunity, then no need take jab?

  18. The Anehs wanted to counter China's vaccine diplomacy by exporting vaccines to poor countries. Now, in the face of mounting infections inside the country, their manhood shrinks and are saying they will be banning vaccines from leaving the country.

Wicked people will face God's wrath eventually. China's vaccine diplomacy is saving lives. The evil empire and poodles vaccine diplomacy is countering those good deeds. Any difference cum bad thoughts? Ask yourself.

  19. Singapore doesn't have Sputnik V vaccine. And yet it consider purchasing AstraZeneca vaccine (which is reported for its blood clot issues) over Sputnik V vaccine as its fourth vaccine. Vaccine Diplomacy may be suspected to have played its role...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi JC, yes, the CanSino vaccine is a one dose vaccine. But looking at the vaccine war, Singapore is unlikely to use Chinese or Russian vaccine, just like the EU cuntries.

Cuntries are those that have been pressurised by the Americans not to use Russian and Chinese vaccines. They cannot even have the right and independence to choose and use vaccines other than those approved by the evil Empire.

Let's wager to see if Singapore is a cuntry or a country.
