Singaporeans untalented - This is what Singapore is turning into

A nation of POVs and food deliveries

The exponential growth of young people doing PHVs and too many senior PMETs out of jobs have forced a change of PHV policy that only 30 and above are allowed. I already had many friends who graduated from Poly and ITE doing Grab Food, some are doing PHVs as they had license. The PHV friends told me many young grads from Polys and universities doing PHV too, even Masters grads. Singapore seems to have very highly educated doing PHVs and Food Deliveries. People from all the over the world would be shocked to find out that Degrees and Masters in Singapore from NTU and NUS are doing low level menial jobs.....

The only jobs most locals can have are PHV and Food deliveries on top of being self employed, this is very sad for many of us.

Rahim

Above is from an article by a Rahim posted in TRE. How true is his description of the Singapore employment scene? Walking the streets, it is so frequent to bump into a food delivery guy or gal. And the roads are full of PHVs, a kind of part time job but increasingly becoming the primarily job of Singaporeans that have lost their jobs and unable to find another job.

Without the statistics, some twits would say this is not true. Show me the proof, that Singapore is now a nation of PHV drivers and food deliverers? So if no one can come up with the numbers to prove that this is true, then it must be false. Where is pofma?

How can one called Singapore a nation of PHVs and food deliveries? What kind of numbers is needed to say that this is true? What is the definition of this statement?

Nevermind, don't waste time arguing about such things. Make sure you don't become one, your family members do not become one, your friends do not become one, unemployed Singaporeans do not become one. There are many better jobs on offer, like cleaners and cleaning supervisors etc etc. Do not be choosy, got job is already a blessing.

This is the new Singapore where aspirations of the past generations are history. Today any job also good, and don't count on that degree from one of the world's top universities in Singapore. Cannot get a job means the papers are useless, though very expensive to get one. Better go to get one from India or the Philippines, their papers are more valuables here and come with the title, 'foreign talents'. Degree mills also can, as long as not found out. It is very difficult to find out because no one is interested in finding out. Can work can already, no need paper qualifications, no need to check.

Welcome to Singapore. Singapore needs foreign talents. The door is always open, wide wide for foreign talents. Untalented or no talent Singaporeans can do all the manual or part time jobs like PHVs and food deliveries...and NS.

Singaporean PMETs are attending upgrading courses to become cleaning supervisors and waiters and waitresses. The luckier ones may become nurses.

The imbeciles cannot see the harm done to Singaporeans and their families.

Some comments in TRE

CECA is,by far,the MOST STOOPID PIECE OF FTA inked by PAP G.
It was politically helmed by George Yeo ( advised or told to do so or not) and architectured by HENG $wee KID?

CECA is plain stupid as we can observed by the MOSTLY ONE-WAY COMMITTMENT OF SG to INDIA,so far.
So many INDIAN JOBLESS FTs came here to oust sgs out of their PME jobs?
Can anybody deny?

WHAT IS THE REAL NET GAIN FOR SG N sgs?
WHAT *RETURNS* THIS CECA gives to TEMASEK HOLE-ding$ in effect or has it proven to be NEGATIVE instead even as sgs’ JOBS are being sacrificed just so to FULFILL SOME CECA *BILATERAL* LABOUR FLOWS???

IT HAS BEEN A DISASTER socially and economically.
It has not been a win-win proposition but A LOSE-LOSE one for SG n sgs,has it not?

All in all,a ONE-WAY TRAFFIC THAT BENEFITS I DIA AND JOBLESS INDIAN NATIONALS WHO ARE HAILED here as FOREIGN talents???

Stupid,very stupid.

Japan:

My block so many locals without jobs, some ex PMETs forced themselves to go do PHV, some end up at the hospitals doing the menial jobs of pushing patients around.

All these have local qualifications from ITE, Poly and even university. And many are like in their 40s and 50s only….

This is very sad for Singapore honestly.

I see those third world foreigners from Vietnam, India, Philippines, PRC and Malaysians in office doing the jobs we can do and many even living in condos…… Their degrees all from unknown universities….

Singapore govt keeps saying we need more and more and must keep doors open. They do not create enough jobs, they just sacrifice older local PMETs to make way for their beloved imports. Many of these imports have become PRs or new citizens.

The worst thing is when these foreign imports start bringing their families, friends and relatives….. plus hiring their own natives…. which explain now very hard for locals to find jobs because many of these foreigners which includes PRs and new citizens are in management!!!

Thank you 61% voters…. you made this happened.

oxygen:

WE WILL SEE A LOST GENERATION like Japan trapped in frequent pervasive unemployment across decades and some of these distressed households oppressed by life-long struggling mortgage.

The baby-boomers expecting the delusionary CPF payout or investment income that will also never going to materialize in a broken economy of slow deflationary economic environment will die in poverty struggle of their own.

When the baby-boomer generation is gone, what will happen to their children and grandchildren without jobs and shelter but constant hunger pangs?

LEE-jiapore for most will be a politically-anemic society of votes-in-exchange for subsistence survival in a near dead economy.

The true price of political stability deception of PAPpypolitics is A STARVATION-RIDDLED ECONOMY of no escape inevitability.

No one party has a monopoly of wisdom, information and integrity – never in history. ALL DICTATORIAL REGIME ENDED UP THE SAME DESTINATION – collapse and failure.

Japan: Thank you 61% voters…. you made this happened.

I think it is sad the national education system deteriortered so badly that there is no talent but to import foriegn trash to make up the talents

  2. The sad thing is that they did not think they would be replaced by the foreigners.
The sure thing is that they would be replaced by the foreigners in a matter of time.

95% of them in parliament would not stand a chance once the foreigners take over this island. I doubt Heng and Chan would make it to PM and DPM.

  3. A 31-year-old man from India who tested positive for Covid-19 after completing his stay-home notice was among the four imported cases announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (Oct 13).

The training employment pass holder served his SHN at a dedicated facility upon arrival in Singapore on Sept 25.

India national trained to be employed in Singapore while many Sinkies are losing their jobs or cannot find jobs! Why can't they train a Sinkie for the job? Also, they seems fine with importing new COVID-19 cases from India!

  7. Phv driver,
food delivery, warehouse hands, cleaner, security guard, hawker and farmer. These are jobs the PAP Regime wants Sinkies to do.
    Some
Hawker and farmer are filthy rich albeit only a minority.
    Just
like to say that most Sinkies are happy,
at least 57% if we go by the Last GE.
    So,
    majority has no complaint.

  11. Heng and school boy Chan said recently that CECA does not affect employment for Singaporeans. True or not? Anyway you swing it, 61% of Singaporeans think the PAP government is doing a good job because of handouts before GE. Singaporeans cannot see further than their noses. Serve them right for becoming Grab drivers, food delivery drivers and cleaners. GREAT.

  14. Indian nationals ask their govt to hold talks with Singapore to allow them to enter the city state soon - TOC

Unable to get back to Singapore quickly, Indian nationals are now petitioning their government to go “talk” with the Singapore government to allow more of them entering Singapore as soon as possible.

Prince@Rahsweetweet tweeted Indian PM Narendra Modi, “Lots of families are stranded in India and are not able to come back to Singapore despite holding the relevant visas. Could you please do something about this by holding talks (with the Singapore government)?”

Another, Shayonee, asked the Indian leadership if they have a plan with the Singapore government to let work permit holders from India back into Singapore.

“What’s the point of repatriating million of people back who have no jobs in India?” the person asked.

Some wanted to bring their family members over to Singapore. Gautam Udhlani said that his company has tried many times to get entry approval to get his wife and kid to Singapore.

Indian government has leverage over Singapore through CECA

Since the signing of the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) in 2005, India has allowed Singapore to invest billions of dollars into India.

In fact, it was reported in May this year that Singapore has emerged to be the largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) into India for the second consecutive financial year, accounting for about 30 per cent of FDI inflows into India in 2019-20. That is to say, about a third of foreign investments into India comes from Singapore.

In the last financial year, India attracted US$14.67 billion of investments from Singapore according to data from India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Certainly, if relationship between the 2 countries turns sour, Singapore’s billions of dollars poured into India all these years would likewise be threatened.

Already in 2017, it was reported that India was not too happy with Singapore starting to restrict its IT professionals from working in Singapore. In retaliation, the Indian government decided against expanding the scope of goods where import duties for Singapore goods would be cut.

  16. Is there any effective oversight on the amount of Singapore's country reserves being channeled into India?

What percentage of Singapore's sovereign reserves has already been locked as investments in India?

Whether on a realized or unrealized basis, how much losses had already been incurred?

Can the trapped investments in India be salvaged?

  19. Once upon a time, there was a small kingdom called Sillidom. It was ruled by a benevolent king who saw to it that his little kingdom prospered and all his subjects prospered together. Within 30 years the kingdom became a very prosperous and modern nation, that even all the big kingdoms envied.

However, when the benevolent king passed away, the little kingdom began to deteriorate because the new king (who was the eldest son of the old king) only cares about his personal glory and fame, and neglected the welfare of his subjects. He surrounded himself with yes-men and greedy selfish ministers, who presented to be loyal to him.....
