Covid19 -Travellers to high Covid19 infection countries serve stay home notices
SINGAPORE: Travellers entering Singapore after 11.59pm on Sunday (Jul 19) with travel history to Victoria in Australia, Japan and Hong Kong within the last 14 days, including transit passengers, will have to serve their stay-home notices at dedicated facilities rather than their own home, announced National Development Minister Lawrence Wong on Friday.
They will also need to take a COVID-19 test before ending their stay-home notice, in line with current requirements....
Mr Wong emphasised that this was “not something new”, as the Government has “repeatedly emphasised our border measures are not static”, adding that the taskforce is “constantly reviewing, updating” border measures based on their assessments of the viral situation around the world.
“We really need to remain vigilant both at our borders, in terms of the measures we have in place at our borders, as well as within our community to continue to ensure that we control the infection and control the spread of the virus within our community,” he said.
Above is from CNA.
Are the measures on Victoria, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong additions to an already existing list of countries that have serious Covid19 infection like the USA, India and Brazil. Are people from these countries, and people been to these high risk countries, also subject to the same restriction or more severe restriction?
Why Ministar Wong only mentioned Australia, Japan and Hongkong? Coronavirus conditions in these countries are not as BAD as USA, Brazil, India, Iran, Spain, Sweden and South Africa.
ReplyDeleteBarking up the wrong trees or afraid of publicly offending the big Brothers?
4G ministers have not been taught how to punch above their weights?
Ask Vivian or Bilahari to teach him lor.
ReplyDeleteThe lackluster performance of the Covid-19 Multi-Millionaires Tasked And Forced Team is horribly and terribly shameful. From the way they talked and the information details they divulged, one can easily sense how shallow and lazy they have been.
ReplyDeleteI think they controlled the virus very well, like a well trained pet. When they wanted the virus to lie low to allow them to hold the GE, the virus listened and obeyed. Now the GE is over and they are in power, the virus started to ravage the island, more than 500 cases yesterday.
ReplyDeletePrior to and during the electioneering, the daily cases fell below 200. See how well they controlled this virus. Really clever.
Why are the lnfected and those from High lnfection-rate Countries such as lndia, US and Others, allowed into the Country.
ReplyDeleteSome Countries even ban their Citizens from returning and or quarantine them at isolated location.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS TO HAVE CONFIRMED CASES PATIENTS TO BE QUARANTINED AT THEIR OWN HOMES TO INFECT FAMILY MEMBER AND NEIGHBOUR.
Stupidity has no cure.
COVID-19 - Reality Bites
ReplyDeleteSINGAPORE, soon to be called Indiapore, has confirmed an additional 513 COVID-19 infections on Saturday 25 July. The majority of these are foreigners working in the construction and shipping sectors.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in tiny Singapore to 49,888. By noon today, it should hit 50,000!
In addition, there are six imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival. MOH has been very shy to inform the public which countries the imported cases have come from. And the public are silently happy about this unusual silence from MOH.
According to the Multu-Ministry Task Fox, oops, I mean Force, it is taking its own sweet time to clear all the dormitories by the beginning of August 2020, taking seven months from the start of the pandemic to do it. No hurry. No worry.
Actually, when they said "ALL", it is not ALL. There are still 8 more Purpose Built Dormitories that will not be cleared because these dormitories are being used as quarantine facilities for at least 28,000 infected workers who are still confined therein.
So, when they said that only about 170 plus COVID-19 patients are still warded in hospitals and another 1000 plus have been discharged (read as transferred) but isolated in other facilities, we have to remind ourselves that there are also at least 28,000 foreigners still being quarantined. That means the total number of infectious people is about 30,000! This figure, after 6 months of "kiddies playing with fire", trying to outsmart the smartest Coronavirus in the world, is very worrying and frightening!
If you are not worried or frightened, good for you. I salute you.
Yesterday TNP reported three incidents in the Dorms.
ReplyDeleteDifferent dorms..woe, sparks can fly into fires.
Two Indian Nationals and One PRC.
Last time Lim Tean had shown a very rowdy incident in one of the Dorm.
Residents were asked to assemble down at Assembly Area with their luggages for transfer. All mingled without masks and social distancings.
Then ordered to go back to their respective rooms.
Wow so disorders and rowdy.
Better hope no further incidents as tempers can fly in confined spaces.
Claustrophobia.
Once infected, even when cleared, could be asymptomatic, could still be carrying the virus with them. Let them out into the community that did not have herd immunity is like pouring oil into fire.
ReplyDeleteThe few hundred thousand FWs are high risk if allowed to mix freely in the community and with their girl friends.
This is a time bomb waiting to go off.
This is a very clever virus designed by the Americans to evade destruction, to mutate and to multiply quickly. Fortunately many countries took tough measures to contain it.
ReplyDeleteAnd fortunately this virus returned home to roost, to do maximum damage on the evil ones that created this monster and letting it out of the bottle. Now they are having a taste of their own medicine with the virus multiplying like crazy to eat up the Americans in their homeland.
Go forth and multiply. HE said.
Hi Anon
DeleteOne obsure news report that Covid had mutated into E614G
This news not reported in MSM.
Not to cause panic?
They thought they had China by the throat by creating this virus and releasing it in China. Why China? To bring it down of course. China is the only country capable of bypassing them in economic status, engineering and technology. China is ahead in innovation, engineering and patent filing. Russia could have done that if they had the financial muscle.
ReplyDeleteTrump said Mexico will pay for the wall and it backfired. Trumps said China will pay for the increase in tariffs, but Americans have been duped into paying more for such imports. And it could be worse if such products are made in the USA, with the price very much more than similar products imported from China.
Trump said that he will make America Great Again, the only indication of American greatness now comes from being No. 1 in infection and death.
All in all, Trump must be tired of winning in every department, in his deranged mind of course.
One employer revealed on Saturday (25 July) that her migrant workers have gone from negative to positive for the COVID-19, due to an infected worker from another company – who shared the same room with them at Tuas South Dormitory – was not immediately transferred to isolation area following his result confirmed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (24 July).
ReplyDeleteThis is the third known (revealed) case of migrant workers not immediately relocated to an isolation area after being tested positive for the virus.
The first case was revealed on 15 July, while the second case emerged on 21 July, involving two foreigners from Toh Guan Dormitory.
The employer, named Christy Soo, took to Facebook on Friday claiming that one of the workers who was housed in the same room with her workers has undergone a swab test on Thursday (23 July) and subsequently was confirmed to be infected with the virus the following day.
Ms Soo noted that the worker – who is from another company – has received a text message from the MOH at 12.08pm on Friday telling him that his swab test result turned out to be positive.
The worker, however, was not immediately transferred to an isolation area and was still being placed in the same room with six other workers who were “healthy” from April till the day (16 July) the infected worker was transferred into their room to spread the virus to them. They have been tested negative many times while staying there for the last three months, from mid April to July.
This is how efficient the MOM and MOH appeared to be?
Really scary.
By the time they come out with a vaccine for COVID19, wonder whether it will be effective, with all these mutations.
ReplyDeleteThe big and small pharmas will be laughing all the way to the banks making one vaccine after another. This is going to be the new money maker going forward, including gloves and masks, which Malaysia is also doing the laughing now.
This is great news. Now all the vaccines coming on line would not be able to stop the spread in the USA. The virus will keep mutating and the chasing of a new vaccine will be like a dog chasing its tail, forever unable to catch up.
ReplyDeleteThe evil Americans are being punished by God and will die till extinction, till they cannot cause any more mischief, till they cannot terrorise any country any more.
Good riddance.
As of Sunday noon (26 July), MOH has confirmed an additional 481 COVID-19 infections in Singapore, the vast majority are foreign workers staying in dormitories.
ReplyDeleteThis breaks the 50,000 mark of infections, the highest in South East Asia. Thevtotal number of infected people now stands at 50,369.
There are 5 cases in the community, all of whom are also foreign workers who do not stay in dormitories.
In addition, there are four imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore from India.
Most of the imported infectious people so far are deemed to be from India, unless refuted by immigration authorities.
Singapore is imposing bans on people from Australia, Japan and South Korea but is unusually kind to open the floodgates for india Indians. Who is controlling immigration authority? Could he be a person of Indian descent too?
Cabinet Reshuffling - Old Wine In New Bottle
ReplyDeleteThe announcement of the reshuffling of the cabinet yesterday by PM Lee Hsien Loong was an anti-climax, a great disappointment.
Though several lucky individuals have strike lottery jackpots and will soon join the Multi-Millionaires Pyramid Club, on the whole the insignificant significant event did not produce any orgasm whatsoever.
Many had expected it to be a big fanfare to usher in the 4-G leadership with an Oomph, setting in motion the gears and wheels of succession, to strengthen public confidence in the future leadership of the PAP and Singapore.
Alas! It was not to be. It was just a normal cleaning up and re-arrangement of the same musical chairs, with a few new colorful smaller chairs added in and a few old chairs sent to the junk yard.
It is quite clear that there was a crisis of confidence in the 4-G leadership - a loss of trust in their competence and capabilities even by the Power Supremo himself.
It is quite clear that PM Lee Hsien Loong has intended to stay on to hold the reins "until the economy has recovered", a situation similar to what the previous PM, Mr Goh Chok Tong had responded (he had like to stay on as PM until 2007 until the economy recovered), before being elbowed out to make way for DPM Lee Hsien Loong in 2004 at that time.
GE2020 had appeared to many voters as a referendum for the acceptance or rejection of the 4-G Leadership, and in particular the leadership of the PM-Designate DPM Heng Swee Keat.
There are several key factors that run counter to the wisdom of choosing Mr Heng to lead Singapore into an unknown, uncertain and unstable future due the devastations caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The following are four of the key factors :
1. Mr Heng clearly has a speech problem in delivering speeches both in the Parliament and in public. This could be the residue of the side-effects that followed the stroke he had suffered not too long ago. For a PM to have such a problem does not enhance Singapore's image and standing internationally.
2. Mr Heng does not inspire confidence in the masses. This has been displayed by the pathetically marginal 53.41% of votes he has managed to garner in his East Coast GRC, despite running against a weaker team from the Workers' Party, led by a young woman. If not because of the predominance of the beholden new citizens mainly derived from the CECA-imported Indians residing in East Coast GRC, I think Mr Heng could have easily lost the race to Nicole Seah. In 2011, when Mr Heng first contested under the umbrella of Minister Mah Bow Tan in Tampines GRC, PAP lost 11.29% of votes, scoring only 57.22%.
3. The way Finance Minister Heng spent money in his 4-budgets Budget, dishing out more than $90 billion of hard-earned taxpayers' money so freely like water, not only left some in awe but many taxpayers in serious worries. The big chunks of that huge sum of taxpayers' money went to huge organizations like SIA and foreign banks like Citibak, but only a meagre sum has been distributed to those who are really struggling to survive in this unprecedented COVID-19 Pandemic. Not only that, Heng's freebies have not bought him much popularity nor effective enough to check the free reign of the COVID-19 Pandemic, that still inflict 400 to 500 victims per day relentlessly.

RB,
ReplyDeleteMay you kindly publish the 2-part article on Cabinet Reshuffle for me please.
Thanks a million times a million.
SSO.
Continues from above:
ReplyDelete4. DPM Heng does not seem to command the total and full respect and loyalty of the other PAP MPs and Ministers, including the PM himself. For example:
When asked whether the 4-G leaders had reviewed their plans about backing DPM Heng Swee Kiat, PM Lee Hsien Loong swiftly tai-chee (deflected) the question to Trade & Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing (ex-Army Chief). Mr Chan was taken aback but, after composing himself, he gave this unconvincing deflective reply:
"We are entirely focused on helping the country in overcoming the economic challenges and saving the jobs at this point of time. We have no plans to do otherwise and we have no plans, no discussions on any change in plan."
Mr Chan was implying that they are too busy to discuss the important leadership succession issue at this juncture. What Mr Chan did not reveal was that there had been a soul searching deep into the nights during the post-mortem conducted after the election. Can anyone believe that there was no discussions on the performance of the various constituencies and their respective leaderships?
Agonisingly, they could not find any soul left! All the souls are gone. So, the only choice left is for them to wait until the 'All Souls Day' to try and search for them again.
Whatever it may be, the game of musical chairs have been played once again; leadership transition has been put on hold; and daft Singaporeans have to LIVE WITH the consequences of choice, with open eyes, in the next five years suffering in silence till the bulls shit on their heads or keep whining until the cows come home.
