Fandi is finally easing into the national coach position

There seems to be an awakening that finally, after going around the world in circus for the last few decades, that we finally realised that we need to have trust and faith in our own talent. Or is it that after wasting so much public fund on foreign talents, the standard of our football did not improve but gone into the gutters to jolt some senses into our stupidity has no cure mind? We are now not  even able to compete with our Asean football teams and always kena whacked when they met. The delusion of being in the finals of the World Cup is becoming a reality. No amount of money thrown away could get us anywhere near that goal. It is not just money. Yes it is stupidity, the lack of pride and confidence in our people, shown everywhere, that angmoh or foreigner tua kee is the way to go.

The recent Asian Games in Jakarta is an eye opener, seeing so many of the Asian teams doing so well with their own local, oops, I mean citizens as their national coaches. They do not need to be coached by foreigners to do well. They don’t have the angmoh tua kee mentality, that only angmohs can help and do wonders. So finally they have come back to Fandi to save the day.

Other than this craziness for angmoh tua kee, what else have they found out that is wrong in our football? It is not so simple as not hiring angmoh coaches as there are more problems than meet the eyes.

Fandi and other Singaporean coaches have been exposed to foreign coaching, their strategies, techniques and trade secrets for many years. Unless they are so daft, which is not the case, they must have learnt and knew enough to coach the national team like the other Asean coaches of their respective national teams to success.

Leaving Fandi alone to carry the can is unfair to him. The whole football culture and organization have to change and Fandi needs all the support to turn a bad case around. He must fire all the prima donnas who thought they have arrived just because they are in the national team. He also needs time to do his job, not another few months or maybe a few years to do wonders. Remember, so many angmoh tua kee coaches, so many years and so much money wasted and we are not getting anywhere but from bad to worse.  Maybe we need to drain the swamp before there is light at the end of the tunnel. Do not expect Fandi to turn the average players into international soccer stars and the national team into a champion over night.

  1. The first one to fire is the Minister who is in-charge of Sports and the MP in-charge of football.

The national soccer team has become the whipping boy to other national teams for many years. There is a dearth of talented players. The pool of supply is shrinking. Many primary and secondary schools have no soccer teams. Fandi has a daunting task to perform. He has a mountain to climb trying to bring back the heady days of yesteryears. Even the S-League has been derided as Stupid League. The crowds are missing as spectators interest decline.

  3. Aiya, if you have those imbecile meddling MPs and what's Culture or Uncultured Ministers in charge of these Sports Associations, they will never improve.

They have not even played Sports in their whole life, what's they know of Sports.

Only besides their Ministerial And MPs allowances or Mata Buta salaries, they just take thr opportunities and further leeched the tax payers by attending these local and overseas sports events.

Just sat there and waved their flags sheepishly like our TCJ at Asian Games swimming events. The cameras zoomed on him and he tried to look away.

One baiyee singh asked Fandi one tough question of what's tied up with the Sports Management and their directives red tape.

Fandi tried to explain in layman terms as what's we talk casually to friends

He said, you know I cannot any how say. You know your turban may be even dropped off if you said something to offend the Egos of the Daft good for nothing elites. I have red lines that I cannot cross. These bastards are real sensitive.

The Baiyee felt offended that his turban might drop and lost his man hood.

As the Turban on his head is very important to his lan par hood. They asked for apology.

Last time in our Provost unit, we have also one Baiyee who wore Red and Blue Turban instead of our Peak caps.

When there are some quarrels, our guys used to tease him saying: You bring your hockey sticks and your gang and we make sure your Turbans dropped.

That's an insult to their lan par hoods.

  4. Fandi should go back to the time when Singapore football was among the best in SE Asia. The team was a mixed of talents from all the races, the best from all the races.

  5. Fandi is going to have to work a miracle to revive local football, after decades of decline and fan support dwindling year by year. The interest has been killed off for good!

Before the malaise set in, football was the one sport that had the most followings among Singaporeans. The Quah brothers were legendary and through their influence, lots of Chinese players also participated in the sport, not just the Indians and Malays. Now, the whole team, or almost the whole Singapore team is built on the backs of the Malays. Where are the Chinese? What killed off the Chinese interest? Were the import of foreigners the cause? And the other big factor is Government intervention.

We were supposed to be grooming local younger players for decades, but how is it that we are now at the bottom of ASEAN football? Financial support is surely not the reason as this is the most widely supported sport in Singapore from both the Government and private enterprises.

I tend to agree that when the powers that be interfere with sports, the result can only be complete stifling of local talents. It is not just in sports.

  6. I agree completely. Fandi's remark should not be taken as racist. People are over sensitive, making a mountain out of a molehill.

And on a separate note, the ruling elites are even talking about banning smoking in HDB flats just because some nut case complained about his neighbours cigarette smoke getting into his flat. Believe that? But the most mysterious and glaringly stupid thing is that the rulers have gotten down to believing that crap! OMG. The complainant must be a foreign talent.
