Some commentators here, and also elsewhere, have been cursing at the Chinese Communist Party, CCP as a bad govt, anti people and all kinds of presumed crimes while holding up the Kuomingtan, KMT, as a good and deserving party to rule China and that China would be a better place under the KMT.
Just ask a simple question. How could a legitimate govt, with all the resources in its hands, with more and better equipped armies, lost its control and right to be the govt of China? Or how could a peasant army, poorly equipped militarily, no finances, no taxes to feed on, managed to drive the legitimate and more powerful KMT out of China? Is this not clear that the KMT has lost its moral authority to rule China?
Chiang Kai Sek inherited the KMT and govt of the Republic of China from its founding fathers led by Sun Yat Sen. And in double quick time he turned himself into a dictator, surrounded himself with corrupt rich officials, cronies and realtives. They made themselves very rich at the expense of the people, levying taxes on the people, forcing the people to become soldiers by conscription, feeding on the gentry and exploitative landlords. The rich just bear with the corrupt govt and pass the burden of their financial burden on the poor peasants and farmers.
The CCP were poor, but they helped the poor peasants and farmers. They siezed the lands of the landlords and distributed to the peasants and farmers. It is no surprise that the peasants and farmers, being forced into poverty by the KMT govt through taxes and the landlords with higher dues and rentals would throw their support with the CCP.
Why would a poor population, heavily taxed by a corrupt govt that only thought of enriching themselves, support such a govt and not the CCP that were robbing the land from the corrupt govt and exploitative landlords to give it to them? Any corrupt govt that continuously taxed the people recklessly and irresponsibly would end up in the same fate as the KMT even if they were legitimate, have control of all the govt machinery, and even with American support and a big and well equipped armed forces.
For those who are still blindly cursing at the Communists ruling China, they should simply look at the history of China and see how corrupt the KMT were, thinking only of enriching themselves at the expense of the poor peasants and farmers.
Tan Kah Kee, the richest Chinese man in Singapore visited China and wanted to donate his fortune to the KMT. He was invited to all the wasteful parties organised by the KMT and witnessed how they splurged the donations by their supporters on themselves. Tan Kah Kee was so disillusioned that he took all his money and gave them to the Communists. He knew that the Chinese Communists were the real nationalists and the people that were fighting hard to rebuild China for the Chinese people, unlike the corrupt KMT, enriching themselves and without a care for the people and the country.
I hope this would put right the farcical perception of some commentators here that China and the Chinese people would be better off under the KMT. What China is today, the growing middle class in China, speak for themselves.
PS. Can any govt acting like the KMT, only think of taxing and robbing the people to enrich themselves think they would not suffer the same fate as the KMT?
Trust
ReplyDeleteBecause the people in government don't see us as citizens whom they should serve. To them, we are merely an opportunity to earn more revenues. They haven't served our interest in years. I'm willing to accept they did, during the early years of independence but they've changed. Even LKY, who many seem to worship wasn't always pro-citizens. At least not during the end of his tenure that is. Accept it. Unless we force their hand by voting in more oppositions, things will never change. They'll continue to push us into a corner, testing how much further they can go.
Those cursing at the CCP would not look. They have already been indoctrinated with greed by the MSM of the West, whose agenda is controlled by the dark side. That is how wealth is now concentrated in the hands of the top 1% of the world population. Communism does not support that thinking, though in later years it became corrupted by greed as well.
ReplyDeleteOf course the West would like the KMT to be the Government of China, to be used as stepping ground to confront Russia during the cold war. But as history turned out, China became communist, the same ideology that the West fears, but because of the civil war became weak and the Japs took advantage. And the fear is not of China becoming communist alone. Communism was spreading into South East Asia, particularly Vietnam and Malaya. The battleground for ideology was evident in Malaysia after the fall of the Japs.
In Europe it was also feared that many East European countries may turn communist under the influence of Russia and the battlefront was also drawn in Eastern Europe.
There is one party in Singapore that is not different from the KMT during its "glorious" days running China down to road of total corruption caused by total greed and total power.
ReplyDeleteThe name has evolved over the last 20 years to become PAPigs. Very similar to the pigs in the Animal Farm of George Orwell. Now the Pigs are heading towards George Orwell's other book called 1984. With cameras and cctv installed everywhere, soon the Police need not go onto the streets to work any more. The Ultimate Police State will soon be established.
The failure of the KMT to implement the Three Principles of The People laid out by its Founding Father, Dr Sun Yat-sen led to the defeat of Chiang Kai Shek by Mao Zedong. The KMT was rotten to the core. Corruption, nepotism and cronyism were rampant and Mao's guerrillas easily won the hearts and minds of the Chinese people by implementing the Three Principles in areas liberated by The PLA. The KMT like the PAP served the rich. The Communists served the masses. Despite western propaganda, Mao Zedong is revered by the Chinese while Chiang Kai-shek is condemned.
ReplyDeleteHi Adam
ReplyDeleteI had the same feeling about those cameras & cctv installed everywhere, and had many an argument with people who thinks that those are for our security and just to fight crime.
Not only that, they can track your movements via your smartphones the moment you leave your house. This is the world of George Orwell and we are supposed to be a democracy and not communism. I suppose the two ideologies are already merging with the common purpose of administrating a police state of total control without the physical presence of police.
Did we or can we see what is coming?
Some reasons:
ReplyDelete1) KMT suffered very heavy casualties after overthrowing of qing and ww2 with japs
2) many commie infiltrators in kmt
3) commie ideology are appealing when people are very poor especially after the war. to keep it on, it must keep people poor.
4) after sun wen there were no good leader and master in fake news in kmt while the commie was good at it.
of cos the most important is all the leaders are self serving just like papies so the people are 一盘散沙.
What China is today destroys everything you said about communism. But you can't relate to it because of your hatred for anything communism. Your subjective mind would not let you see what is real and what you are faking.
ReplyDeleteMost people don't know the truth that 80%-90% of CCP hid in northern China & Inner Mongolia during WW2, and avoided fighting the Japs. Instead they let mostly KMT armies fight against the Japs in the eastern, south-eastern & south-western part of China.
ReplyDeleteThe eastern & south-eastern parts were the most industrialised, containing major port cities & easiest for the Japs to utilize for their empire war efforts. The south-western part was trying to invade through Burma to the big port city of Rangoon (Yangon) and threaten Bangladesh and north-eastern India (both part of British India at that time).
Total of about 10M KMT soldiers and another 1M Indian-British-US soldiers were involved in the main fighting against the Japs in China & Burma during WW2.
During the later part of WW2 when USSR clearly had the advantage over Hitler's forces, then USSR started supplying lots of weapons to the CCP & this continued all the way into late-1950s/early-1960s after which geopolitical rivalry & border/land issues deteriorated their relationship.
In WW2 instead of using all those weapons from USSR to fight the Japs, the CCP mostly hung back, preserving their strength in manpower & weaponry to fight against KMT eventually.
The ordinary workers, citizens, farmers & peasants simply wanted to be left alone. At the end of the day, those holding power become corrupt eventually.
/// Why would a poor population, heavily taxed by a corrupt govt that only thought of enriching themselves, support such a govt ..... /// redbean
ReplyDeleteVery good question redbean.
Why indeed?
Chiang Kai-shek refused to engage the Nipponese and ordered his generals to keep their soldiers to fight Mao's Red Army only. In the Xian incident, his very own general forced the unwilling Chiang to co-operate with the Communists. Nevertheless, the KMT is seen as unpatriotic and lost much integrity and credibility as a protector of the Chinese people. The Red Army did more fighting against the Nipponese than the KMT. Many KMT soldiers defected to the Red Army to kill Nipponese soldiers who committed gross atrocities against Chinese women and children. Mao is a hero while Chiang is a traitor.
ReplyDeleteWhat Ann said is historical fact. The KMT was focused on fighting the CCP than the Japanese, chasing the CCP and forcing them to escape in the Long March to survive. Marshall Zhang eventually forced Chiang to join force with the CCP to fight the Japanese by kidnapping him. Otherwise KMT's priority was to destroy the CCP while keeping away from the Japanese soldiers.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that many KMT soldiers, officers and soldiers defected to the CCP spoke for itself, that they lost faith in the corrupt KMT that refused to fight the Japanese invaders.
Chiang Kai-shek never forgave Marshal Zhang for kidnapping him. He was under house arrest for 40 years in Taiwan and released after Chiang's death. The Communists considered him a patriot.
ReplyDeleteThose who approve of commie philosophy should be damn happy with PAP, coz their high taxes is a form of wealth redistribution from the bourgeois to the poor. COE, GST, elec tariffs, water tax, petrol tariffs, S&CC increases, stamp duties etc.
ReplyDeleteThose who can afford to spend more, buy more things, buy cars, buy big houses, stay in bigger flats, use more electricity, use more water, use more gas, drive more --- means you are rich from capitalistic methods. The state has responsibility & mandate to redistribute more of your wealth to the country.
Wrong. Too simplistic. The facts is the rich are being taxed less, while the poor are being taxed more, proportionately.
ReplyDeleteA1.97am, u really needed to attend economic 101 or get ready to be sodomized so that either way u will wake up. Alamak Knn so simple minded. U probably also agree that gst is to help the poor and FT is here to create jobs too. I hope u have a clean ass.
ReplyDeleteThose who keep complaining of high cost of living or cannot make it in the job market should spend less on bourgeois living and/or work smarter & harder LOL.
ReplyDeleteI still see people around me thinking having overseas holidays 3 or 4 times a year is a normal right, and also hitting 5-digit salary by 35 is a normal right. LOL
255>> good insight. KMT casualties in ww2 was 5-6 times more than commie. Commie simply stole china away. Otherwise china will be a freedom loving, democratic, successful and beautiful country today. Jap will never recover. Commie chinese fell to the plot by commie russians as they need an ally and china is a good candidate.
ReplyDeleteLKY ancestor was qing official. LKY was pro feudalism (another form of extreme capitalism) rather than capitalism. Its not surprising he lusted absolute power - main feature of extreme capitalism and commie ideologies.
1049am what crab are you sprouting? KMT rule was so corrupt n evil that Chinese people suffered very much n were invaded by the Japanese. CKS was basically a good for nothing ruler. Mao era was one with great poverty n failed economic policies bringing another phase of untold sufferings n death. Nevertheless the Chinese were united n had the dignity of self-ruled n can stand with backbone n not bullied by foreign aggressors. Mao Chinese unity laid the foundation for China emergence through Deng Hsiao Peng combo of authoritarian rule with free markets.
ReplyDelete10:49am has been reading too many KMT and western fictions and cannot tell the difference betw what is truth and falsehood. And he keeps coming here to share his ignorance and falsehood and believing them to be truth.
ReplyDeleteNo one here believes in his silliness.
1254> maybe you read too many commie fictions
ReplyDeleteWhen xi threatened taiwan, we all know he is dangerous. We should be nice to each other, irregardless commie or not. We should not fall into marxist trap. He was jew and working for bankers to destroy wealth using debts.
When Chiang Kai-shek lost the Civil War, he fled to a corner of China on an island called Taiwan. The Civil War is not over. The Communists will resume the war anytime now. Taiwan will be reunited with the motherland. Not even the Americans can prevent it.
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:05, Xi is not dangerous. He has a mission to reunite China so that Chinese would not be fighting Chinese again or be manipulated by the west and Japanese to fight Chinese. The one that is very dangerous is Cai Ing Wen. She is flirting with the lives of Taiwanese and the future of Taiwan.
