Singapore China bashing or Kausikan China bashing?

For several weeks the Singapore main media have repeatedly publishing Bilahari’s view on how China manipulates and coerces Singapore to become more pro China in its policies. One comment by a Kesavapany even suggested that this is Singapore govt’s position and Singaporeans should speak out in a similar view to attack China for doing so. The impression given is that only China is the only bad guy manipulating Singapore and other big powers are not, all so innocent and angelic.

The recent spat with Malaysia over the HSR and water agreement is another episode of how Malaysia tried to influence and manipulate Singapore’s policies and decision to favour Malaysia. Or is this not manipulation or coercion? Every state would influence and manipulate another country to its advantage without exception. This is called cultivating good relations or diplomacy.

Reflect a little on Singapore’s actions and policies with other countries and ask the same questions Kausikan had asked, whether Singapore has been influenced, manipulated or coerced to act or speak in the way it did. The Philippines China island dispute case would be a good starting point. Singapore kept saying that it was not a party to the dispute and had no claim to the South China Sea islands but was the one that carried the biggest loudspeaker to lambast China, telling China to accept the decision of the funny private court in Hague and even telling China to obey the rules of law as if China was not. On the other hand, nothing was said when the Americans broke all international laws and agreements, the TPP, Paris Climate Accord, not being a member of UNCLOS.

So, was Singapore coerced, manipulated or influenced by the Americans to say those things, to behave in such a bizarre manner that eventually led to the souring of relations with China when it should have just shut its mouth like other countries? The big question, was it in Singapore’s interest to be the spokesman for the Americans against China? Singapore did it freely, willingly, to harm its own interest? If Singapore did not open its little big mouth then Singapore’s interest would be harmed by the coercive big power and by opening its little big mouth, Singapore’s interest was advanced, protected by the big power?

Another point, why would a little prick like Singapore be so willing to send its soldiers to the Middle East and Afghanistan to fight along side the Americans when all the smart countries in the world would not do so? Was Singapore being forced by the Americans, arm twisted by the Americans to do so and in so doing, stand up like a sore prick and risking itself being a target of ISIS attack? Singapore doing it willingly without being coerced to do so? The Americans did not manipulate, pressure or force Singapore to send troops to the Middle East and Afghanistan? Are Singapore leaders really so stupid to play with fire when they don't have to?

Between China and the USA, who has been influencing and coercing Singapore into doing things against its national interest? Who is the bigger devil and why nothing was spoken against the bigger devil?

You ask me? It is ok to be manipulated and do the biddings of the Americans or what the Americans did were not coercion or manipulation, no, the Americans did not influence our policies and decisions in how we conduct our international relations?

How did Singapore's healthy relations, crafted over decades by Lee Kuan Yew denegerated to this poor state of affairs? Who has or have been instrumental in sowing the seed of hate against China. Where did this hate China agenda originated?

Any Chinese Singaporean with a little ethnic pride and self respect would not take it kindly with such open warfare to bash China. It is so insensitive for Kausikan and his likes to promote such a hate China agenda in a multi racial society paying no due respect to the feelings of the Chinese community. Be he a banana, a chap cheng or a Chinese Singaporean, he has his roots in China. And no self respecting man would ignore or show distaste to his roots and ethnic identity in the face of a loose cannon attacking his roots open defiance. The reticence of the Chinese community does not mean that they are taking this kind of attack kindly or condoning it.

As everyone knows, what appears on ST is state approved, just like Global Times. That's why LKY said whatever is on ST is the truth. You won't see anything in ST or Global Times criticising the state, unless the reporter & editor have death wish.

All these are diplomatic tit for tat that has been going on for past few years.

The PAP government dances to please Uncle Sam whenever it fiddles. The lead dancer at the moment is Bilahari, an Indian ex-civil serpent who revels in China bashing. But it is a political game fraught with unknown danger. The PAP government is playing with fire. China quietly is hitting back through its proxy, Malaysia. The HSR and the Melaka Megaport are only the tip of an iceberg. This iceberg spells danger for Singapore. "Loose lips sink ship". The fate of the nation is in the hands of the PAP government.

  13. China Assigns Top Priority to Develop Its Nuclear Arsenal to Match the US

Noting US President Donald Trump’s respect for Russia at the Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, China says it will speed up its process of developing strategic nuclear power.

Chinese analysts said Russia's economy is weak with its GDP not making the world's top 10. Yet its military, especially its nuclear power, has sustained its status as one of the most influential nations in the world. Russia and the US have serious geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East and Europe, but Trump suddenly reversed the hardline US stance and showed a low-key response to Putin. That's probably because, as Trump said, Russia is a nuclear power.

Trump has repeatedly stressed that Russia and the US are the two biggest nuclear powers in the world, with their combined nuclear arsenal accounting for 90 percent of world's total, and thus the US must live in peace with Russia. Trump is a man who values strength, and he attaches great importance to military strength, especially nuclear strength.

One of the major reasons that the US refused to engage in open conflict in Ukraine and Syria with Russia is probably because it was concerned about what Moscow might do with its huge nuclear arsenal.

By looking at the US' aggressive attitude in the South China Sea and the Taiwan question, China realizes its nuclear strength is "far from sufficient." Part of the US' strategic arrogance may come from its absolute nuclear advantage.

China is different from Russia as it has a much more robust economy. But China's relatively weak military, especially its nuclear power, which lags behind the US, is a major strategic sore point.

Therefore, China will speed up its process of developing a strong nuclear arsenal, and let the outside world know that China is determined to defend its core national interests with nuclear power. China's nuclear weapons have to not only secure a second strike but also play the role of cornerstone in forming a strong deterrence so that outside powers dare not intimidate China militarily. Once major countries are engaged in military conflicts, each side must evaluate the determination of the other side to see the conflict through. Nuclear power is the pillar of that determination.

Is he a self appointed spokesman for little red dot or is he so inclined to lunatically lambasting China without any basis but just for his morbid ultra pathological hatred for China and the Chinese people. In all his anti-China speeches and writings he has revealed to us he is clinically sick in his innermost mind that his loyalty and love is foremost for India. Whatever it is he is playing with fire knowing that Singapore is a multiracial society with a Chinese majority. With the recent influx of over two million Indians from India he may feel emboldened to bluster away and act and do as he thinks fit and empowered. It was only for a brief moment and easily missed. Very likely this part was not to be seen by the public but it showed where the hacking came from...the USA.

  19. India had used its weight and might to influence and force Singapore to sign the egrious CECA Treaty. Can Cowshitkan explain why as head of the foreign affairs department he never seen fit to advise Singapore not to sign such a treaty which is adverse to Singapore's economy and well being. Was Cowshitkan because of his Indian ethnicity bowled over by India's influence or was he in cahoot with mighty India to strong arm twisting Singapore to go along with India's dictate that Singapore had to sign such an unfavourable treaty detrimental to our people.

Further more did Cowshitkan ever protested over the Evil Empire's building of a monstrous gigantic destructive military base in Diego Garcia so close to his father India. Does he not know that the primary aim of the Diego Garcia military base is to threaten and browbeat all nearby Asia, African and Middle East countries into submission to US dictates and hegemony and that includes India. Does he not know that US had used the base as a jump pad to mass bomb Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Yemen with the resultant killings and sufferings of millions of innocent people and the senseless destruction of these countries. Cowshitkan should tell India to put pressure on the Evil Empire to vacate Diego Garcia and give back the islands to the original Diego Garcian islanders who were forcefully and illegally evicted from the islands in 1967 in a very pathetic inhuman manner. India should persistently put pressure on the Evil Empire to pay a huge compensation to the about five or six thousand original Diego Garcian islanders who were left languishing in Seychelles and Mauritious islands. Finally Diego Garcia should be given back to independent Mauritious the original owner of Diego Garcia.

Lastly, as a Singaporean, Cowshitkan should make sure he is not unduly influenced by his ethnic Indian India so as to avoid causing trouble to Singapore.

Bilahari could not have acted on his own without the connivance of his masters. China is seen as assertive for its refusal to acknowledge and respect Uncle Sam as The Big Brother. PM Lee made use of an Indian to place his bet and hope on Uncle Sam being able to cut China down to size. PM Lee is using Singapore as his gambling chips. Bilahari is nothing but a convenient runner and a foul mouthpiece of the PAP.

  22. My family members and I, my siblings and most of my Chinese friends have now been inflamed by the deep hatred of Bilahari Kausikan, through the widespread and continuous publication of his Anti-Chinese speeches and write-ups, through the various medias.

If the authorities do not take the necessary action and continues to keep a closed eye and turn a deaf ear, matters may become heated and turn ugly. It may also become out of control and it will be too late for preventive measures.

Some Singaporeans may be influenced by bim to take actions by their own hands, either way from either side.

This series of clearly racist and hate speeches/articles, deliberately published by the Straits Times and other printed and online medias, must have been calculated to influence and instigate definitive actions from Singaporeans. It is a triple-edge weapon which can cut three ways in three directions. The ramifications will be very serious.

Since the fire has already been lighted by the sparks caused by Bilahari Kausikan, unless immediate action is quickly taken by the appropriate "fire fighters", the flame is likely to spread wider and further.

Why is it until now (already months have past) no responsible authorities have shown any response? Are they busy counting their lucratuve easy-come $millions and occupying their mind on investment methods to further grow and expand their easy-come $millions incomes?

Or, is it their intention to allow hatred to spread further, be it anti-Chinese or otherwise?

As it is, with the persistent and continuous influx of Indians from India to come and wreck havoc in our rice bowl and living space, we are already very annoyed and irritated. To make matters worse, more and more high-level positions, both public and private, are being held by Indian Singaporeans or Indians from India out of proportion.

Please be reminded that the majority of Singaporeans are of Chinese descent and Singapore is a multi-racial society.

Singapore is a muulti-racial society not just because of government policies but mainly because of the kindness, patience, tolerance and magnanimity of the majority Chinese Singaporeans, not the other way round. This is the fundamental factor that has influenced the overall racial harmony in Singapore for the last 50 years or so.

So, please be aware that for you, Bilahari Kausikan, trying as you have, to influence the Chinese majority in Singapore to go Anti-China and Anti-Chinese, you are not only playing with fire but you may have already backfired.

My advice, very crudely, to you: Don't fuck around with the Chinese Singaporeans in Singapore. You can do it in Malaysia, in Indonesia, in the Philippines, in Vietnam and in India but don't try it in Singapore!

Stop it now and put up an unconditional apology to all Singaporeans for the damages you have already caused to Singaporeans' short-term and long-term individual and national intetests.

  24. India is facing flak for holding up negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) - a trade pact being planned between the 10 members of Asean and its six major trading partners - Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea.

A high-ranking official from India's Commerce Ministry, Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia, said yesterday at the Delhi Dialogue that India needs to see concessions on services which would allow millions of India nationals to work in RCEP member countries. She noted that Asean and other member countries were not willing to give concessions on services.

Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who was among the speakers at the two-day Dialogue event, said he hoped the RCEP would be concluded by the end of the year.

The reluctance of RCEP member countries to allow India nationals to work in their countries stands in stark contrast to Singapore's eager stance to let India nationals flood the tiny island state to cannibalize the jobs of Singaporean PMETs under its CECA pact with India.

  25. Latest by Kausikan.

The assertion of a Chinese identity due to the rise of China is a persistent threat that has to be managed carefully by Singapore, said retired top diplomat Bilahari Kausikan.

Given Singapore’s young age and multi-racial composition, the Singaporean identity is “particularly malleable” as it comes under pressure from external forces, according to Kausikan, who was speaking on Thursday (19 July) at the end of a forum on ethnic identity and culture organised by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) and OnePeople.sg.

One common narrative used by pro-China entities is that since Singapore is a small and predominantly Chinese country, the city-state should be on China’s side amid the power rivalry between the Asian giant and the US, according to Kausikan.

Singapore’s former ambassador-at-large dismissed this “simplified grotesque distortion of a much more complicated and complex reality”.

“(I) have come to the sad conclusion that they (pro-China entities) just cannot get it,” said Kausikan, adding that the equality of the different races in Singapore is an “alien concept” to them.

The current chairman of the National University of Singapore’s Middle East Institute has spoken about the issue on several occasions recently, including at a conference organised by OCBC last week.

  26. Guys,

[I have some insider "opinion" of what is going on about the SingHealth hack from reliable foreign cybersecurity firm who has an office in Singapore]

Please lah...this is not a case of China bashing. BTW China is much too big a cuntry to be affected by "negative comments" on the internet lah. And if you re aiming to be a BIG or The Biggest player in real Global Politik, you have to gather intel

For e.g: after WW1, The British (who still was #1 power then) formed GCHQ and they tapped into every undersea cable they could get access to, to do SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) and traffic analysis. Now in 2018 we have 5/ 9/ 14 Eyes in effect. Edward Snowden "outted" SIngapore & S Korea as "partners" to these programs.

So why should China miss out? Or Russia for that matter. Those motherfucking cuntries in the UKUSA Agreement can all "pakat" and collect SIGINT on everyone ("anyone, anytime, any place" as their stated intention) and China and Russia miss out...

C'mon lah. That's fucking nonsense. Do you think China and Russia are going to "relac" and just play games or watch porn on their computers? Of course not. They're smart, they know that warfare superiority in our time is about DATA. In human history we had standing armies, then blue water navies and after WW1 thru WW2 air superiority which lead to ICBM tech. But now, to win wars and defeat enemies and PROTECT YOUR ASSETS it is all about :DATA.

The sg.gov want to have beyond-reasonable-doubt "certainty" before blaming "state-sponsored hacking".

My hypothesis: SingHealth hack was done by Chinese state-sponsored hackers. And the ATTACK VECTOR was a phishing attack---i.e. some DUMB CUNT got "socially engineered" to click on a link or download an attachment which lunched a malware payload. Due to the malicious nature and sophistication of the hack, this was probably done by well-resourced, well-trained actors...probably state-sponsored, probably CHINA.

...but like any hypothesis, I could be wrong.

Of course people like Billy Hairycunt will waste no time to go all whacked-out on China. His opinion may be correct, but it is BIASED.

I have previously stated my "admiration" for the cyberwarfare divisions of Russia and China. They are legion...100's of thousands, perhaps a few millions of them in total. They have enormous resources...resources only a state with lots of money can provide. And they are going to be FORMIDABLE.

I could speak to how I think Singapore's cyber security is somewhat lacking, and that many of the policies in place are outdated. But that is a topic for another day. Singapore's dream of becoming a "Smart Nation" is not going to come easily, if that even is probable. (Possible? Yes. Probable...hmmm...I don't know. No one really does).

You have state-sponsored hacking from Iran, N Korea ETC. ETC...

Guys, the world has really changed. What is really going on, is INVISIBLE to most of us.

  32. Najib Belittled Singapore In Letter To CIA Director

The letter was revealed by Free Malaysia Today on 20 July.

The letter pitched Najib as a US ally with whom Washington could work with and denigrated Dr Mahathir.

It also promoted Najib’s "progressive foreign policies", saying Malaysia was a crucial ally and the only viable one in the Southeast Asian region as the others like Singapore and Brunei were either too small, too pro-China or “too immersed in their own domestic political problems”.

    In para 5, it states:

"On the other hand, the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib, which had administered Malaysia over the last 9 years, has a proven track record of not only practicing sound and progressive foreign policies, but also greatly contributing to enhancing regional security through a very active involvement in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Unlike Mahathir, Prime Minister Najib is known to be a strong US ally and would continue to support US presence in the region. Without Prime Minister Najib in charge of the country, the US stands to lose a reliable partner in Southeast Asia given that the Philippines has broken away from Washington, Singapore and Brunei being too small to make an impact and Thailand as well as Indonesia too immersed in their own domestic political problems. Meanwhile the Indo-China countries except for Vietnam are too inclined towards China."

If the letter was sent to the CIA under the order of Najib, how PM Lee feel about Najib now? Still can buddy-buddy?

"The exercise gives us the opportunity to forge friendships and build closer cooperation with the multinational navies involved," said Commanding Officer of RSS Tenacious, Lieutenant Colonel Lee Jan.

But China was absent from the maritime exercises in the Pacific as it was disinvited by the Pentagon because of Beijing's "continued militarization" of the South China Sea. The US action was intended to publicly shame China and make it “lose face” internationally.

The US is using Rimpac to woo Asean and counter the Southeast Asian nations' slide towards China, analysts said.

Washington is fortifying a political coalition in the region with an aim to contain China’s rising clout and assertiveness. Observers see Rimpac’s purpose as reaffirming US hegemony in the Asia-Pacific by implying that participation is support for the regional US-led coalition against China.

The strategy is to make the Chinese fight among themselves, thereby disunite the Chinese and weaken their overall strength to be able to form a formidable challenge to the US world hegemonic power.

Singapore leaders have displayed their willingness to be manipulated by the US's CIA, US Govt, US Military and US Academics.

  46. @ all

The apparent targeting of Lee Hsien Loong's records could be a red herring. Why would someone do that when they can just download the entire database and analyse it offline in their own time? Unless I'm missing something, this makes NO SENSE at all.

I think they might be looking for "something" which will compromise or embarrass or deprecate the reputation of individuals, which will be in those (so-called) "confidential" medical records. For e.g. they might be looking for individual who have certain "flags" or entries in their records like:

    1. Illicit drug use --- past or present, what treatment, how long etc..
    2. Mental disorders
    3. Sexual orientation
    4. HIV positive status

...this information is potentially damaging to people's personal reputations in the real world. Can be used to blackmail, or just collated for future use or SALE to "interested parties".

Stolen data is BIG BUCKS. Make no mistake.
