Why was Wee Kim Wee called the people’s president?

Other than his easy ability to connect with the average Singaporeans, Wee Kim Wee was acknowledged to be the president that open up the Istana ground to the public on public holidays. The people held him dearly for this act of generosity and sharing with the common folks. Yes, giving the people more open space and offering the Istana, once the privilege of the president and the natural aristocrats, to the average Singaporeans to roam was admirable.

How is Halimah going to do better than Wee Kim Wee, to connect better with the people and to be accepted as another people’s president? For one, instead of opening up more space for the average Singaporeans, her choice of resident as the EP, to remain in her HDB flat, is doing exactly the opposite. The HDB estate that she lived in is a public area where people can move about freely.

Her assumption to the presidency has resulted in her neighbourhood being locked down in a way. The police and security people are all around, around the clock, to check on visitors and even the residents living in the same block as her. For security reason, for protocol and the privilege of being the head of state, many things have to make way for her. Car parks are reserved for her and the police.

People, relatives visiting people in her block would be subject to rude and uncomfortable checks and scrutiny. Yes, the vicinity of her Yistana is no longer a public place where people have free and easy access. How’s that for depriving the people from their small comfort of freedom of movement but instead turning her neighbourhood a restricted area?

I think she should think carefully about the inconvenience caused to her neighbours and move into the Istana instead of turning her Yishun flat into another Yistana for the good of her neighbours. After all as president of the state, she deserves to be living in the Istana. No one else deserve more to live in the Istana than the President and her family.

Come on get moving Halimah, and be a real people’s president, to give the people more space and convenience than inconvenience, for the sake of the people. You can’t put the blame on the police and security people for doing their jobs to protect your safety and convenience. And you can’t blame your neighbours and the public for being annoyed, burdened and subject to checks and the watchful eyes of the police. When such interference in their lives becomes excessive and daily, it is no fun anymore no matter how much they like you and respect your new status.

  1. That 'Cat' pet of the PAPies called 'Halimau' or 'Halimiow' is a nuisance & annoying to the residents public living in that YeeShun hdb estate. Kind of a rather stubborn character tat she tries to imbue to the people. The inconvenience caused by the residents shall be remembered as the people's nuisances press-si-dan, she is #NotMyPresident after all..

  2. Continuing to live in her HDB flat to score political points is idiotic.

If she want to appear humble, then she should donate her nearly 1.6 million dollar salary funded by taxpayers to needy Singaporeans. She can still keep the perks.

  3. All the grand escorts and decorum accorded to the Sin President are ostentatious and waste of peoples' tax money.
All knows that the Sin President is a puppet with absolutely NO POWER but ONLY TO BE USED AS A PAWN.

As is in the Current Situation, Sinkies and Others in the International Community know well that President Halimah can at most be a Third Rate Calibre for the ceremonial post. There could be tens of thousands of better qualified Malay Singaporeans than her for the Post. Many in Suria(Sg Tv Channel) will be able to outperform Halimah anytime.

This Wayang Presidential much ado is a laughing stock for a long time.
However, it is very entertaining in a way.

She can never be the people's president. Why? Is she elected to presidency? Nope. Is her living in Jumbo Hdb flat consider a people president? Nope. Is she financially train to check on reserves? Nope. ..& the PAPies wanto project her as people president or Muslim president with her tudong. Maybe not mine president after all.

    RB

But why Halimah need to do better than Wee Kim Wee as a people’s president?

So what if Halimah did not do better?

So what if Halimah is a nuisance to her Yishun neighbours?

So what if Sinkies think Halimah is a puppet of PAP?

So what if Sinkies see Halimah no up as President?

Will the Sinkie opposition become ready to be govt because Halimah is a kelong and puppet President?

Will majority Sinkies still vote PAP in the next election because Halimah is a kelong and puppet President? Or only just kpkb and for those good life Sinkies kong song lampar song in RB blog?

If not, so what if Halimah is kelong or what not President?

Tiok and so doesn't matter for PAP.

Because the Sinkie opposition will not be ready to be govt and hence majority Sinkies will still continue to vote for PAP. This has been well proven for 50 years, u know.

And assuming PAP make WP Ah Hia bankrupt through their $33M "ownself Town Council sue ownself MPs" suit, PAP will face a even weaker opposition in the next election, tio bo?

So PAP is really smart. Through their status as elected govt, they make it bao jiak (sure win) for them, doesn't matter whether it is Presidential, General or even by Election.

And I really admire PAP for this. Sibeh smart to obtain power and keep their power. WP Ah Hia no fight lah. Chee Soon Juan no fight lah. So who else can fight PAP, u tell me lah?

  9. For those at 50s and above to think back, they will realize what impression was Wee kw. He was appointed by old fart. A friendly chap who loved to take photo with public when Istana was on open hus. There was no further impression of Wee except he was a journalist. When Wee was in hospital, old fart visited him. That was Wee. The one with higher impact on memory was Shares. He proposed women should do NS.

The worst of all, was the elected one kfc. Nothing was impressive. At least the "immesaurable" one had earned $32millions for his remunerations and bonus, to be famous, kfc had none.

The newly appointed muslim lady preferred to sleep on her own room is better than kfc. From start, she visited factory and charity home. As a trained legal expert, she might write out something to ask ah long to consider to fortify her weak position as reserved one. She claimed to be a "people s not reserved".

The residents should thank her for having guards in uniforms. They can go out tonight till 5am home, the block will not have robbers waiting for them. Good or bad, its half half. In long term, where can residents find uniform guards in their block? That block is the golden flat worth more money as long as the reserved one lives there. It has free guards.

  10. WP Ah Hia no fight lah.
    10:52 am

WP Ah Hia can fight and can also win but too bad lah, win liao also not ready to be govt.

So win liao also in the end sure lose liao, if PAP wanted Ah Hia to lose.

That's why smart Sinkies don't fight PAP to win elections if their party cannot be ready to be govt after winning. Because even after winning, PAP can have a thousand and one ways to make you lose, if they really wanted to.

Wah seh, this statement is a revelation to me, a daft Sinkie.

Now I fully understand why Sinkie opposition is not strong and ready to be govt, because not enough smart Sinkies want to join them to contest elections.

  14. When Wee Kim Wee was 'appointed' President, there was no public protest or criticism about race.

And he was even not someone who had ever managed a $500 million company. Yet he carried out his presidential duties with honour and dignity. He was able to connect with the common people, which is why he was well liked as the 'people's president'. The rest are just pretenders.

Forget about whether he had the power as a nonsensical 'key holder' of the reserves. Who elese after him really had the power over the reserves? Ong Teng Cheong proves that the President really is a puppet. All hubris about holding the important key that only the dafts believe in and still voted for the PAP.

U are correct based on fact. There was no tangible, repeat tangible "reserves" figure. OTC proved it. Where is the tangible figure? Not reflected on IMF records, no statistics in local records.

Perhaps that's the reason why any self respecting Sinkie, Malay or otherwise, will not want to be a reserved and kelong President, despite the perks, the good pay and good life that comes with the position.

And so PAP only have the choice of a Indian father makcik Sinkie willing to accept it and also accepted by PAP, tio bo?

So like that ah, buay sai kwai lah (no surprise).

    Tiok.

Maybe PAP could have approached other better Malay Sinkies lah or even within the cabinet, but they do not want to be a puppet President, even though PAP accept them. So in the end PAP maybe only left with the choice of a makcik Sinkie who is willing. So there you are, a HDB heartland makcik Sinkie become the President.

  18. Why Tan Chuan Jin accepted to be demoted to the position of Speaker of Parliament?

Why he cannot have the self dignity to reject it and seek better pastures in the private sector, if he should know this is a demotion?

By accepting to be speaker, one way or another, this is not a good reflection on Tan Chuan Jin, tio bo?

And for the same way or another, by accepting to be President, this is also not a good reflection on Halimah, tio bo?

Why PAP got this type of people?

And can win elections some more?

This is also not a good reflection of majority Sinkies who elected them, tio bo?

  19. Please lah.My lakopi kaki oso invite many to visit his house once a year but that does not mean he is friendly but may be to show off.
Not as if everyone is invited to stay in his landed property.
Continue to stay in flat shows that flat has its advantages and if wealthy people can stay in flat, citizen should not have inferiority complex for staying.
President Harimau shows a very good example .Who knows those claim being inconvenience can sell off their unit at double the price.
And those who are homeless may even be invited to stay free .
Good to stay with Vvip cos borrow from ahlong no need worry about being harrass.Think of the benefits with security personnel around 24 hours without having to pay security fees.
How I wish to be her neighbour.
    Good example,must be good leader.

    12:44 pm

Maybe because he thinks he may not be able to find a job (for now) in the private sector that can offer better pay than as a Speaker?

Or maybe he is just bidding his time as Speaker and will resign when the time is ripe?

So maybe it's all about $$$$ lah.

    Which Sinkie don't like $$$$?

    Which cat don't like fish?

U may need to redesign your view on people. The correct view is: people have their own insight. Unless a person like ah long, living inside a box, never by mee siam on street, u should not say someone thinking out of the box. On sinkieland, there are less than 50 people living inside the box. Even boxing day they stay at home. Daily they will go out to wave their hands with people who may not notice them waving at all. They now aday tell people reserved president for a presidential race help lace sure harmony. But only last year one never bought mee siam (may be dont like mee siam) said sinkieland was not ready for an indian pm.
Other than the less than 50 people, all sinkies are not living inside the box. They each has their own out of the box view.

  28. So long as Sinkies remain daft and emotional and or even howlian, they shall be led by their noses like water buffaloes.

Recalled the two ah erms who had a meal with makchik halimah ? lt was clearcut propaganda from the media, yet the two ah erms-old aunties must be showing everyone their pictures to everyone they know. Maybe many others envy them and feel so very touched by such a humble peoples presidentess. How nice of her.

Here in msn, many elderlies were touched by the old guards and must have had goaded others to polanpa to the early leeders. Those incline to superficiality may not be able to read much into future and implication. More often than not they are very emotional and sentimental.

Anyway, there is no point recalling past glory when those glories have turned rancid and rotting away.

    Where are Sinkies heading ?

And that's also why smart Sinkies see no point to join Sinkie opposition lah.

Like that how can Sinkie opposition be strong and ready to be govt, let alone win elections?

  31. With respect to the late Mr Wee Kim Wee as an appointed President, I feel the Late Mr Ong Teng Cheong is by far the best of the lots and a fearless President. Also, he was an elected President who was brave to challenge the G. In the end, he was disliked by you know who. Very sad, indeed !

  32. The last time we have a malay president, there were many huge problems - political, financial and social. Will history repeat itself?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Most important of all is that we must have a Malay PM, a Malay DPM, a Malay Defence Minister, a Malay Foreign Minister, a Malay Home Affairs Minister, a Malay Finance Minister, a Malay Law Minister, a Malay Manpower Minister or at least a Malay Education Minister. These are the positions that have power and influence over the citizens' lives.

What is the use of a President who is nothing but an obedient servant to take orders from the PM either directly or indirectly, through the Presidential Advisory Council and through the Parliament?

If there is no President around, will Singaporeans' even feel anything amiss?

Worst of all is that the Presidency has evolved to become a mockery of the sanctity of the office and a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

For people who do not know what shame, disgrace and dishonourable conduct are, they will continue to praise themselves to fool others about their insincerity, incompetence and inadequacy.

One may be able to con everybody once or twice but surely cannot con everybody every time, especially so if he has not been legally trained and does not have the charisma to command, magnetize and mesmerize the respect of the masses.

What is that nonsensical talk about the loss of political capital? Those useless paper genersls turned pseudo politicians have political capital? My foot. It is more like the squandering of the political goodwill established by the Old Guards.

Anyway, if Allah (Holy be Thy Name) feels that somebody is not fit to stay in the Palace, He will make sure that person feels so guilty and undeserved the he/she will make excuses to avoid having to stay in the Dignified Palace. You may be the almighty on earth and you may play with race and religion, but you cannot and must not play with the Almighty in Heaven!
