Reactions to the EP walkover

The no contest for the EP is quite expectable given the aristocratic elitist barriers raised to block the average citizens from their rights to be elected to the office of the Presidency. This is more than a sick joke if this country is to be called a democracy when the basic rights of the citizens are taken away from them, that not all men are equal under the law but some are more equal than others based on their jobs and wealth. Now that the show is over, let’s see how the citizens react to the whole farce all for nothing.

For the activitists, there was a sit in vigil at Hong Lim Park, where they protested in silence, nothing more nothing less. Anything more could be dangerous. The turnout was good enough for the govt to take notice.

The next group of citizens simply said, it’s over, let’s move on. This is the typical boh bian group of Singaporeans, resigned to their fate.

A deviant group would grudgingly said, what to do, what can you do about it, and end the story there.

Then there is the usual large group of tiada apa group that just go home with whatever they are doing as if nothing happens. Life just go on with or without the EP show.  The boh chap type.

And there is the very disappointed hedonistic group that are cursing and swearing that they did not have a free holiday. That is about the most important thing in the life of this group.

And you will have the happy group all celebrating and congratulating the PAP and Halimah for winning the EP election, for working so hard for it.

And let’s not forget another group that would give up a big yawn.

This is Singapore and how Singaporeans react to this EP reserved for the Malays.
It is a non event. Who cares? Nobody cares, really. The govt can do whatever it wants, change the Constitution for what it thinks fit and whatever it claims will affect Singapore in the future, whether the people agree or not, it does not matter. The govt said counts.
Oh the Malay community will be celebrating the second Malay President of the island after 47 years. Gratitude man.

  1. This is just the beginning of PAPies plot against its citizens to deny their rights to vote in the reserved EP. Many more schemes r on the way to deny even more rights of Dafts Sinkies. In the pipeline of PAPies plot is the clamping down of all political opponents, dissidents, activists, bloggers & social medias & many more. This will ensure PAPies tight grip of power and control over its people. Many talented Sinkies will leaves this shores & this red dot exodus is increasing year by year leaving the hapless low incomers & new citizens in this island call Hotel California...

I hope they do, including my Aljunied Town Council makcik cleaner auntie who always does a very good job cleaning my HDB pigeon-hole corridor and block.

For that, I celebrate. It is not often that we get good cleaners, u know, just as it is not often we have a "Indian father but considered as Malay by PAP" lady President.

  12. The reactions to EP was a low key show ended so fast. There was no national speech, no foreigners sitting to watch her speech, no firework. F1 ended with firework. President sit in had nothing special. Lets wait for her speech at budget to have a peep on what she was eying for on sinkies suffering citizens.

Few people talked about it. Out of a sudden, ah long was reported to visit china today. It was said in cna that china pm Li was supposed to visit sinkieland. But china foreign affairs spokesman Deswan did not confirm the news months back.

What will ah long do in china. Some comments in china. Sinkieland was 1 of the 3 beside Japan and US to support the judgment claiming china s illegal ownership of south china seas. China would not trust sinkieland changing this position. But sinkieland is a powerful voice in asean, and it chairs asean next year, there is advantage to be friendly to sinkieland.

This is the stand china takes on welcoming ah long.
HK has concluded free trade agreement and investment agreement with asean as a group. Sinkieland export will have HK as new competitor in asean. If sinkieland is excluded on 1b1r IPO on rails and building infra structure projects, its ah long s fault. Ah long is not performing a balancing act between us and china. The pro usa stand now starts to see IPO on financing china projects going to HK. With this HK new free trade agreement, this kind of trend is almost sure, on most 1b1r projects.
Ah long had preference for japanese trains for malaysia hi speed rail when he said to abe, that he wished japanese would win the tender. How can sinkieland gonna get financing jobs on sinkieland?

The walk over president is not a good show case to usa politicians. US politicians will find such walk over undemocratic.
How will the new president visit US? That is embarrassing to US and UK whose main plus point is: democracy.

So the walk over was a real mistake politically. It is an isolation tactic, similar to supporting the fake pinoy south china judgment. Good for nothing. Average sinkies will feel shameful. Voters can only vote for opposition to solve this kind of problems.

  14. What is your plan? Stay put? Migrate? Or what?
    3:28 pm

My plan is to make more money (3M) in order to have good life in high cost Sinkieland.

As I have already achieved my plan, I will stay put to continue to 3M.

When I cannot 3M in Sinkieland anymore, then I will plan to migrate to a better place to 3M. Or at least a good life with less M, for example buy a bungalow for the price of a 3 room HDB pigeonhole.

It is not your fault to find jobs here to feed your family.

We Singaporeans are not so stupid to blame the whole world without knowing who is the real asshole and the cause of the problem and anyhow shoot from the arsehole.

Of course there are exceptions and that is normal since most are daft.

  28. Let us never forget that the government is only ourselves if you are speaking as the President of the United States; and not an alien power over us from outer space.

The ultimate rulers of democracy are not a President, a Prime Minister and Ministers and civil servants, but the unseen Power behind. In any society, there always exist a duality of things - the seen and the unseen, the open and the black market, the legal and the illegal, the official and the underworld, the positive and the negative, the male and the female, the yin and the yang, etc.

The stupid, the non-thinkers, the lazy to think, the busy businessmen and housewives depend on the clever and intelligent to lead them. As such, they vote for the clever and intelligent, not another stupid person of group of stupid persons.

This is the reality of life, whether in a democratic country or in a dictatorship or monarchy. Suppression, oppression, unfairness, injustice and inequality have always been there, and will never be eradicated as long as human greed and selfishness remain hidden in the unseen heart and soul of those in powerful positions of command and control over others.

Power always lies in the hands of a few to rule the countless and brain-less. Never in the history of man unkind has Power been held in the hands of the commoners.

Even in the world of primates, mammals and higher animals, the most aggressive, cunning, ruthless, strongest, poisonous and vicious are the kings of their respective species.

This is the fact of life and natural law of survival.

    Thanks for the thoughtful write-up.
But you leave us hanging with a big question.

If you are right, so what?
What can the individual do to improve his life?

Or are you the typical Singaporean or PAP voter?
"It's like this one. Lan, lan boh pian lor"
    Fait accompli.

  30. The stupid and weak need the clever and the clever needs the stupid and weak.
The stupid and weak need the clever to protect them against external threats.
The clever needs the stupid and weak to work for him so that he can grow stronger and stronger.
If the stupid and weak destroy the clever, they themselves will also be doomed.
If the clever does not make use of the stupid and weak, then sooner or later he will be seen as stupid and weak too. Then he will be voted out for good.
Typical Singaporeans are actually both stupid and weak, as well as clever and strong.
They know what to stand up for and when to stand up.
They know who to fight against and when to fight.
Because of that, they can survive very long.

  34. Just to think of one or two people who are really inspiring.

We could make a very long list, but obviously Nelson Mandela, emerging from 17 years of hard physical labor, 23 years of imprisonment, with this amazing ability to forgive, so that he could lead his nation out the evil regime of apartheid without a bloodbath.

Ken Saro-Wiwa, who took on the giant oil companies in Nigeria, and although people around the world tried their best, was executed.

People like these are so inspirational. People like these are the role models we need for young Singaporeans.

And just a last word on that -- a young woman who's running an entire conference center in Singapore. She was so excited to get a certificate from the leadership course she attended. She said it has helped her to do what she is doing. This is just one example of how young people, when they are empowered, given the opportunity to take action, to make the world a better place, they can do it.

This is truly are our hope for tomorrow.

    Thank you.
