The awakening of the discriminating Singaporeans

Over the last few days we have witnessed the awakening of a new Singaporean, thinking, discriminating and appreciating the good works done by the government. They knew who was the architects and movers behind the good life that Singaporeans are enjoying today. They are anything but daft. And they are grateful and respectful to the man that made it happened.

The people are marching with their feet to show their approval and gratitude to the last and most formidable founding fathers of modern Singapore. From the young to the old, parents retelling the successful stories of Singapore’s tranformation and their admiration of LKY for being there to make it happen, with his able peers.

Do not be mistaken by this spontaneous rise of a people that are not known to show their emotions openly, apolitical and apathetic. They are not. Count on them when they are needed. They may not say much, not express much, they may not march on the streets, but they know what is happening and what is going on. They give credit when credit is due.

They will not be cheated or shortchanged. Since the days of Hougang, Aljunied and Punggol East, the Singaporeans have clearly shown a very astute level of political awareness. The glimpses of this awareness are encouraging and will do well to a people and country as we move forward. They will not blindly follow or believe, or be misled by the pretender pied pipers. They will only follow the true leaders that have their interests at heart and will deliver to them what they want, not what they do not want.

Telling lies to them would not do. They think and they will decide for their own good and their own future. They will line the streets tomorrow to say farewell to the last hero of yesteryears. It will be a scene that may not be repeated for a long time to come.

    If that really is true.
I will personally go down and kneel in front of LKY's tomb for one hour.
    But until I see proof.
I remain critical and will ask just how much good did LKY really do?

If there was no LKY, how many more great Singaporeans would have risen to great heights?
Nothing great ever grows under the shade of the giant Banyan tree.
The canopy of the Banyan tree prevents sunlight and water from reaching the ground below.
The banyan tree stunts the growth of everything below its great canopy.

Tiok. And to be more specific, the "They" above should rightly refer to the majority (aka 60%) who voted PAP in the last election and the extraordinary crowds and queue paying their last respects to LKY. And for sure neither they nor the pied pipers are pretenders.

    Hahahahahaha.

    That's a hypothetical question lah.

As good and useful as asking "Had u married a different person, how different will your life and family be?".

  4. Singapore is at a crossroad. What happens next will depend on the present men-in-power. I am sure they hear the cries from those deprived Singaporeans, but do they hear their pleas. Let us all wait and see. The real wayang will soon be apparent.

The cries had already happened even before 2011.

But what happened since then? And does PAP hear better since then and till now than it was in 2011? And if so, will future cries get any more worse than what it was in 2011? Or more wayang than it already is?

  6. In another famous blog, people had
already started to talk about pap
recapturing Aljunied GRC in the next GE.

    It is getting very interesting.

    We shall see.

  8. Indeed, this is the Time to return Singapore to Lee Kuan Yew.
Let the PAP have all the parliamentary seats again.
Singapore will grow like we did in the first 30 years under LKY.
    Wow!
It would be our Best era ever!

  10. PART 1/2

Cum cum now people. Let us put aside all these maudlin emotions and sweet niceties aside for a moment to dig deep and unpack what is really going on in The Sheeple's psyches.

If you've been listening to the various sound bites of individual Sheeple. "We were poor. Now my children have good education and own their own homes." Or from the world's media you get "buzz words" like transformation, "economic miracle", “one of the highest GDP/ income”, “universal home ownership” etc etc.

ALL of the above have to do with MATERIAL matters—i.e. the necessary MATERIAL things without which there is no modern life, no hope, no upward mobility…and NO POINT.

LKY’s “art” was local and geo “real politik” where he was a consummate performer, analyst and architect. As far as I know he didn’t sculpt, paint, write prose, compose or play music, invent and make stuff with his hands…no, none of that. He dealt in logical pragmatism from start to finish. If you got in his way, even heaven couldn’t save you from the consequences.

It is no easy task to build one of the world’s greatest cities. First, you need supreme control of the entire environment—the PHYSICAL environment. With is why EW Barker and his team came out with The Land Acquisition Act——i.e. take over those kampongs and towkay-owned lands and built public housing, schools and infrastructure, by using the LEGAL PRINCIPLE of Eminent Domain——The idea that “The State controls all the land and can decide how to use it”. This alone was a monumental task and it was done without a drop of blood being spilt. He took lands from the local people, but left alone the lands owned by The House of Temmenggong aka Sultanate of Johor. The installation a Malay president Yusof Ishak was a brilliant strategy. Logical pragmatism, you can’t beat that!

In his magnum opus “Leviathan”, philosopher Thomas Hobbs reasoned that you need a strong “top down” govt to prevent a war of “all against all”, and that’s EXACTLY how the PAP ran the show, only that they “micromanaged” more than Hobbs probably imagined. It was necessary. The amount of “social discipline” was a BIG FAT ZERO—people were littering, people were spitting, gangs everywhere were stabbing each other with bearing scrapers and throwing acid. And the local population demonstrated on a few occasions, their propensity for MOB VIOLENCE by rioting and killing each other.

If LKY and his PAP were not authoritarian, ruthless and strict, Singapore would have continued as a lawless, violent society, with ethnic competition and political divides expressed in mass mayhem and anarchy, whilst the better educated and shod “chattering classes” sipped Singapore Slings at The Raffles and The Cricket Club philosophising and talking shit about their last shopping trip to Robinson’s.

Modern Singapore is a result of almost 100% Social Engineering. What an OUTSTANDING and MONUMENTAL achievement. LKY proved many social and political theorists WRONG. This is truly epic!

  11. PART 2/2

I will miss the Benign Dictator, and his hatchets and knuckledusters. He was such good entertainment value. In his honour I shall list but a few of his antics which made me laugh out so much over several decades:

    1. Long hair will be served last (Stop this aping of the decadent west!)
    2. “Stop At Two” Family Planning campaign (You can fuck, but only 2 babies allowed!)
    3. Ban Chewing gum (Singaporeans are so fucked up, they can’t even chew gum responsibly)
    4. Stop pissing in lifts
    5. Stop littering the streets and throwing objects from flats
    6. Stop spitting everywhere
    7. Flush the toilets (sorry, this one he failed. Had to invent self-flushing toilets)
    8. Intelligence must mate with intelligence to produce intelligent babies (National eugenics campaign. Set up Social Development Unit)
    9. Cane violent criminals (resounding thumbs up from everyone)
    10. Execute drug peddlers (most Sheeple agree)
    11. Fuck off the British House of Lords, we have our own judiciary (the last chord of the colonial overlord severed forever)
    12. Close the clubs——the youngsters are out of control (Smoking’ and banging’ night clubs and discos like Barbarella, Spot Spot, Lost Horizon, The Boiler Room…all closed due to drugs and a spike in teenage pregnancies)
    13. Curtailment of Presidential powers. (President is now parliament’s bitch)
    14. Travel around the world and criticise as well as “advise” other countries. Punch well above your weight (Visit Australia, fuck the whole country on national TV warning that they will become the “poor white trash of Asia”——epic. Visit Japan—criticise them for WW2——can you believe the balls on this guy? Criticise America, Criticise China, belittle Thailand, the Philippines…occasionally tekan Malaysia, UMNO and call Johor Bahru a “lawless place full of thieves”….solid stuff)
…and many many more spectacular entertaining moments.

    Vale Mr Lee Kuan Yew!

  12. As I've been saying all along, ad nauseum, ad infinitum:

Culture Is Destiny; A Conversation with Lee Kuan Yew
    By Fareed Zakaria

So relax, Singapore. Your culture, and how it acts today will determine your future. You will ALWAYS get the leader and govt you DESERVE.

    Meritocracy much?
