Lee Kuan Yew Series

This is a series of quotes from LKY in honour of his contributions as one of the founding fathers of Singapore. I will post a quote a day until I run out of quotes.

“But we either believe in democracy or we do not. If we do, then, we must say categorically, without qualification, that no restraint from any democratic processes, other than by the ordinary law of the land, should be allowed. If you believe in democracy, you must believe in it unconditionally. If you believe that men should be free, then, they should have the right of free association, of free speech, of free publication. Then, no law should permit those democratic processes to be set at nought.

- Lee Kuan Yew as an opposition leader, April 27, 1955

    Gongtuatai kak jiahsai.
Kpkb can solve the problems meh //////////

So, YEW prefer 100 bloggers kpkb or 30 opposition in palamong?

Both serve almost same purpose of "waking up the drivers when they doze off at the wheels or sound the alert and alarm BELLS such as when some taxi and bus drivers watch videos while driving, YEW know?

But bloggers " cannot and will not " challenge incumbent power. Opposition can!

So who " Gongtuatai kak jiahsai." ?

It is YEW, anon 10.38pm 24 Sept 2014, is it NOT?

Sinkies and incumbent want to have the cake and eat it too. ..........

    YEW kotek, get it?

  6. If yew want to quote him, then yew need to quote about him. Here is one from Mahathir:

“He’s not democratic at all! You see, he goes through the formalities, but if there are any opposition politicians elected, he makes sure that they will be incapacitated, and the suits will be settled with huge payments, compensation and all that; or the opposition will come in and be very quiet and not say anything. In Malaysia, we have always had opposition politicians, and they are very vocal.”

  7. Cannot believe Mahathir. Not true at all.

  8. ...afterwards we round up the dissenters for detention, others we sue and make destitute, for we are done with democracy. Only one voice here and now.

  9. People, especially politicians, should practise what they preach. In this case hypocrisy is very apparent.

Definition of Hypocrisy:- the practice of claiming to have higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case.

  14. Who in Singapore would dare mention the " Stop at two policy " instigated by you know who. This policy was very effective and great effort was implemented in those days to encourage obedience. Those who disobeyed were disadvantaged in many ways. The success of that policy has resulted in the need for the importation of FTs. Well, one old mistake is covered up by another new mistake.

  15. Do u have that quote from LKY many years ago when he said promises made during election hustings are meant to win votes and not meant to be kept ???

Years later, his son said "sorry"-- during election rally in 2011--but continue to increase the foreigner population; even went on to say Singapore also belong to foreigners . . .

Interpreting the Quotes in your own ways may woo Sue to pay you attention and the affection maybe too strong for your wellbeing.
