Singapore owes its success to Pinoys and foreigners

This appears to be the message that foreigners are trying to tell the Sinkies. Never mind who planted this message in their heads. I chanced upon this Pinoy, Nathan Allen, writing this to his countrymen in response to a hate post by a Sinkie.

‘It kills me that Filipino workers are being treated with so much disrespect - even though for decades they have helped Singapore become the economic powerhouse that it is today. Reportedly, even the nationalists who fought for independence and helped build the Singapore we know today were influenced by the national hero of the Philippines - Dr. Jose Rizal.’

I am not blaming Nathan Allen for thinking so, that Singapore owes its success to the foreigners here for turning it into an economic powerhouse in the last decades. The assumptions here must be that the foreigners are very talented and without them Singapore would not be what it is today. If this is true, the same foreigners, with their talent and hardworking nature, must also have turned their own countries into economic powerhouses as well. This is straight forward logic. If they can make Singapore a power house, they must also be able to do the same to their poor and 3rd World countries.

The truth is that they are mostly the third or fourth rate talents of their countries. The top talents of their respective countries are doing very well at home as their elites, and there is no need for them to leave their countries to eke a living elsewhere. Many of the foreigners that are here are those that could not find decent jobs at home, not good enough. Shouldn’t they be grateful that Sin City found them so good to give them good jobs and good pay? Or maybe Sinkies are so untalented that these third and fourth rate foreigners are better than them and could easily find employment here than Sinkies?

Another strange phenomenon is that the top talents of these foreigners remained in their home countries but could not turn their countries into economic powerhouses. How could these third and fourth rate talents managed to turn Sin City into an economic powerhouse? Maybe these third and fourth rate talents are the real talents of their countries and if they were given a chance to replace their top talents at home, they could turn their countries into economic powerhouses just like they did for Sin City.

Do I sound logical? Why are these foreign talents so able to turn Sin City into an economic powerhouse while their countries remained as struggling economies, economic slum houses? What is the problem? My logic is flawed? Third and fourth rate talents could turn Sin City into economic power house but their first and second rate talents at home could not do the same to their countries?

Funny logic? Or 3rd World third and fourth rate talent’s logic?

  1. Nathan is right. Singapore's progress was entirely built upon Filipino & Filipina's sole contribution. Especially the Filipinas. Without the hundreds of thousands of Filipina maids, how can the Singaporean men and women go to work? How can Ah Boys do NS when there are no maids to carry their back-packs? How can boy boy and girl girl go to kindergarten and schools without their maids carrying their school bags? How can the buildings be put up without the Filipino construction workers, draftsmen and architects?

Yes, now I see why their Independence Day is our Independence Day. And why they say we are inter-dependent. Maybe they should just boycott the ungrateful Singaporeans by pulling out ALL their people from Singapore.

Yes, your maid washes all your dirty clothes, look after your homes, old folks etc. But be prepared now and then to see some tell tale stains on your bed!

Economic powerhouses do not tolerate corruption. That country has the wherewithal to be an economic powerhouse but unfortunately it is so corrupted that 3rd and 4th rate talents have got no choice but to seek a living elsewhere.

If Sin city were to repatriate all these Pinoys, followed by the Middle East and other economic power houses like Hong Kong and Taiwan, that country would collapse like a house of cards. Other than bananas, their sole foreign income source is from earnings of their exported unemployment.

They have got thousands of islands, some uninhabited. Wanna buy one the size of Sin city? No problem, just cough up the money!

    See what I mean?

Please grow up and read more about history of the world. The USA is an accidental country and prospered by the blood, sweat and tears of the pioneers that built that country for them.

Can you understand what I mean by blood, sweat and tears? This is not a figure of speech but is the hard truth of American history and how America became rich.

The blood was the blood of 70m to 100m Red Indians that were massacred by the White men who robbed them of their land, a whole continent became free land to the White European settlers.

The sweat were the sweat of black African slaves that toiled the fields to feed their White masters and provided them all the human comfort and convenience.

The tears were the tears of Chinamen slave workers who built the roads and railways for free and subsequently oppressed from pursuing their right to a better life like any human beings.

It was from them, from the blood, sweat and tears of those people that White Americans became rich, the people that built the foundation of a rich America.

Today you are only seeing the facade of a rich and powerful America, beautiful and generous. You need to look deeper to know how it all started.

  18. 2016 GENERAL ELECTION?

With the opposition possibly take over the govt, ten percent swing in votes, many of the high pay ministers could gone, which the are pay ten times their counter parts in the some of the countries advanced economies with around the same population?

Due to the CPF locked up scheme for life?

Some the multi millionaires minister could look for jobs in other part of the world like the George Yeo?

Maybe start they own business or could look for the multi national companies around the world?

Still no bad only country in the world that pay them muti million dollars?

The elected president pay drop from around 5 million 8 month bonus had reduced to 1 plus millions? 3 more massive competition from opposing voices, previously lack of competitions?

This is good for the population, as more tax payer money were save to give people the hard earned, blood sweat and tear money CPF?

And more cost efficient to run the govt, less indirect taxes like CPF, COE, ERP, GST, Levies and other indirect taxes?

Singapore have possibly the highest indirect taxes but not the direct taxes, overall possibly still the highest taxes?

Other expenditures like to be reduce after 2016 if the opposition were elected?

The ministers pay likely to be reduce comparable to the pay of some advanced countries ministers around $200K?

So Singapore can run cost efficient, $200K huge is huge by any standard?

As many saving in govt expenditure go to developing the Singapore Small and Medium size companies, so that Singapore don't need to rely on foreign companies so much?

    Chinese Exclusion Act
The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. It was one of the most significant restrictions on free immigration in US history, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. The act followed revisions made in 1880 to the US-China Burlingame Treaty of 1868, revisions that allowed the US to suspend Chinese immigration. The act was initially intended to last for 10 years, but was renewed in 1892 and made permanent in 1902. It was finally repealed by the Magnuson Act on December 17, 1943.

  31. How ameicans treated the Chinese in those days

The first significant Chinese immigration to America began with the California Gold Rush of 1848-1855 and continued with subsequent large labor projects, such as the building of the First Transcontinental Railroad. During the early stages of the gold rush, when surface gold was plentiful, the Chinese were tolerated, if not well received.[1] As gold became harder to find and competition increased, animosity toward the Chinese and other foreigners increased. After being forcibly driven from the mines, most Chinese settled in enclaves in cities, mainly San Francisco, and took up low end wage labor such as restaurant and laundry work

    ReplyDelete

  32. With the post Civil War economy in decline by the 1870s, anti-Chinese animosity became politicized by labor leader Denis Kearney and his Workingman's Party[2] as well as by California Governor John Bigler, both of whom blamed Chinese "coolies" for depressed wage levels.

    ReplyDelete
  33. For the first time, Federal law proscribed entry of an ethnic working group on the premise that it endangered the good order of certain localities. The Act excluded Chinese "skilled and unskilled laborers and Chinese employed in mining" from entering the country for ten years under penalty of imprisonment and deportation.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Later, the Immigration Act of 1924 restricted immigration even further, excluding all classes of Chinese immigrants and extending restrictions to other Asian immigrant groups.[9] Until these restrictions were relaxed in the middle of the twentieth century, Chinese immigrants were forced to live a life apart, and to build a society in which they could survive on their own (Chinatown).[9]

And Furthermore, the Chinese Exclusion Act did not address the problems that whites were facing; in fact, the Chinese were quickly and eagerly replaced by the Japanese, who assumed the role of the Chinese in society. Unlike the Chinese, some Japanese were even able to climb the rungs of society by setting up businesses or becoming truck farmers.[18] However, the Japanese were later targeted in the National Origins Act of 1924, which banned immigration from east Asia entirely.

  35. Even today, although all its constituent sections have long been repealed, Chapter 7 of Title 8 of the United States Code is headed "Exclusion of Chinese."[23] It is the only chapter of the 15 chapters in Title 8 (Aliens and Nationality) that is completely focused on a specific nationality or ethnic group.

On June 18, 2012, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution introduced by Congresswoman Judy Chu, that formally expresses the regret of the House of Representatives for the Chinese Exclusion Act, which imposed almost total restrictions on Chinese immigration and naturalization and denied Chinese-Americans basic freedoms because of their ethnicity.[24] The resolution had been approved by the U.S. Senate in October 2011

  43. Please lah people, this is classic human nature in play.

When there is success, every man and his dog will try to claim credit.

When there is failure, these same fuckers are the first to find some poor arse to blame.

  44. P.S. Any "import" had better pay attention: NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO BE HERE OR STAY HERE.

You are in the SERVICE industry. Which means you are going to encounter many impolite and unreasonable people, who actually don't like you, but expect you to perform your "service" to 100% ++ customer satisfaction.

Is the world unfair and unjust? Fuck yeah, and if you cum from a shit-hole poor cuntree but want to earn money in a RICH cuntree so that the females in your family don't have to sell pussy anymore, no one is going to make it easy for you.

If you cum to Singapore and expect everyone to be "nice", you should either change your attitude, or fuck off back to your slum and wait for your next United Nations food packet.

Singaporeans don't have the global reputation of being the "nicest people in the world". In fact, quite the opposite. ut they are who they are, and they are NOT OBLIGED to change their ways just to make Turd Whirled cry-babies "happy".

Singaporeans do have money. If you want our money, then you put up with our shit.

No, we don't have to like you, and you don't have to like us.

    Got customer service?

  46. @RB:

Please lah. I'm just giving them a reality check -- about peoples' legal right to be assholes.

In Singapore, money does the talking lah. You may choose to disagree and live in your fantasy. Up to you ;-)

  47. Since long ago, politicians love to create tension or sow discord between foreigners and locals to advance their political advantage. The real enemy to this tension is very bad planning from the gov (6.9m white paper). For example,
the real problem to housing affordability was very bad planning fro MND, restrictions on land supply, and pr ownership of hdb.

  48. It is never the foreigners against locals. It is all along the politicians against the people (whether foreigner or locals), the rich against the poor, the haves against the have-nots.

  49. If the intent is to sell hdb flats at higher prices or to inflate private property prices, then it is very well planned.

  50. or if the intent is to screw the people, then they are very competent in this area.

  51. Only those pig brain can not understand this logic.

And this a country where the authority is quarrelling with its own people because of the 3rd party FT.

Do you think this is healthy or damaging?

  52. Redbean you are truly a bigot. Instead of words of appreciation you write all sorts of shit about the foreign workers in Singapore. Without FTs and workers from overseas your little island will return to the swamp it was a decade ago.
