Foreign talents going home

There was a handsome Pinoy family in the paper a couple of days back. The husband was an IT talent but his application to renew his EP was rejected. The MOM has started to close the door a bit and not approving every application for EP here.

From the interviews of the foreigners Singapore is still a choice destination for employment. They praised not only the safe and stable living environment here. The working environment is excellent, good jobs, good pay and good prospect. But this funny part is not what Sinkies, especially the PMEs are experiencing. Why is Singapore so good for foreigners and so bad to some Sinkies is a big irony and a big mystery.

Say whatever you like, the govt must know our strength, how good Singapore is as a place for business and work. It is not just cheap labour. It is the whole package which is very attractive and very competitive among the first world countries. There is no comparison among the third world countries. Only fools will compare the two and tell you the third world countries are better.

Another astonishing truth that was revealed in the same article was the lack of IT and banking and finance professionals. According to Gerdeep Hora from Synergy HRD Consultancies in New Delhi, ‘Singapore lacks IT experts and managers in its banking and finance sectors, and employers have been hiring directly form India in these areas.’ When has India become the banking and finance and IT centres that a first world country, a regional financial centre, must go to India to recruit such experts that a regional financial centre is lacking?

What is happening? Employers forming a beeline to India to hire IT experts and managers in banking and finance directly? India a banking and financial centre producing all the experts that a regional banking and financial centre cannot produce?

Holy cow, I dunno what to say.

  1. RB, main reason is that the finance and IT industries in sinkie land have already been captured by FT. If u watch bloomberg, cnbc or CNA, you would note that when they interview experts from all the MNC bank, funds, private equity or what have you , the majority of the people interviewed are ah neh from India.

    So now u know.

  2. The foreign talents I'd really like to see go home are the PAP talents.
I'd like to see more of them leave like George Yeo and his GRC team.
It's time to vote out the PAP talents and to vote in real Singaporean talents.
Vote Opposition for a Singaporean Singapore in GE 2016.

  4. I think the picture of the Pinoy family going home published in the straits time was just there to make daft sinkie happy.

Sinkie are so easily appeased and gratified and lulled into false sense of belief that the Govt is actually sending back FTs.

    Is that really happening?

  5. our universities and various training institutions must be proactive and produce graduates and skilled personnel that what the businesses and industries need......

no point sticking to those useless traditional courses and training programs that have no or of little values .....

put efforts in this area rather then trying our education system....

our education system is ok....what is needed to change is the courses .....tailor the courses to nation needs.....

this could be under a newly created STRATEGIC DIVISION under a minister-without-portfolio in PM OFFICE.....and coordinates MOM,
    WDA, EDB, IE, SPRING, etc.........

  6. Only fools will believe and mislead by this selective example of FT returning especially by ShittyTimes. Did you ask if out of this one foreigner get rejected and returning, there extremely likely 100 of them get approved and happily replacing sinkies in PMET and other jobs ?

If ShittyTimes can be trusted, it is as good as believing that the Hitler is messiah and saviour of the world, and then his suicide is to die for the sins of all innocent people.

PAP only capable of selective reporting and wayanging and smearing with nonsense, half truth just like recent ceiling cleaning saga.

If you believe PAP, you better believe that SHIT and COWDUNG are the most delicious cuisine in the world.

    redbean,
kee chiu if you agree .

    You mad ah?
You mean India and Philippines are better at producing graduates that Singapore needs?
If true, then it's time to fire the Education Minister Heng Swee Keat.

  8. Here's a Facebook post of a young graduate Spaniard cleaning toilets in United Kingdom.
At least PAP gahmen not so bad.
Singaporeans still got opportunities to clean toilets in Singapore.

My name is Benjamín Serra, I have two bachelor degrees and a master's degree, and I clean toilets.

No, it is not a joke. I do it to pay the rent for my room in London.

I've been working in a famous chain of cafes in the United Kingdom since May, and for the first time today, after 5 months working there, I've saw it clearly. I have been cleaning toilets. My thought was: "I received distinction in my two degrees and I clean other peoples' shit in a country that isn't my own." Well, I also make coffee, clean the tables and wash cups.

And I am not ashamed to do so. Cleaning is a very decent job. What embarrasses me is having to do so because no one has given me an opportunity in Spain. Like me, there are many Spaniards, especially in London. "You are a plague," I was told once here. And let's not kid ourselves. We are not young people on an adventure to learn the language and have new experiences. We are immigrants.

I've always been very proud, I am not going to deny. Those who know me, you know. And I have to bust out a smile at customers who look over my shoulder as I am simply a "barista" (as they call it here). Some are so outrageous that it makes me want to pull out my University and master degrees and put them in their face. But it would not really do anything. It appears that those titles now only serve to clean the SHIT that I clean from the toilets in the cafe. A pity.

I thought that it deserved something better after putting so much effort in my academic life. It seems that I was wrong.

Bosch's message has been shared and liked hundreds of times since it was posted last Friday, and The Daily Telegraph writes that he has become the voice of Spain's "lost generation."

Bosch isn't alone in his situation. At the end of August the level of unemployment for those under 25 reached 56.1% — a record high. Bloomberg reported earlier this year that the number of Spanish people registered to work in the U.K. had doubled since 2009-2010, with many highly educated young men and women forced to take jobs in fast food restaurants and other low-paying positions.

  9. If India is producing better graduates than Singapore, it will be a superpower by now and be in the first world.

Sinkies are not employed because they are discriminated by foreigners and their very own local employers who have sold them out to foreigners.

  10. Even call center move from India to Philippines and today Philippines are world biggest call center. Pinoy is infinitely better than Indians.

Indian call center sucks, thats y white man transfer call center to philippines. Indian nationals are too shit that they will screw themselves and white man even though white man are trying very best to bring them up, to work hand in hand against China.

I took SIA frequently for business trip. If you dial English language option, you get routed to India call center, the Indian will charge you wantonly for anything. They will bluff and lie to you. They will tell you anything cannot.

If you want to change a flight date, they will tell you no seat available. Or they will ask you for $100 fee. You want to speak to their supervisor, they will either hang up the phone or put you on hold indefinitely. All tour agency knew these fucking Indian style.

Tour agent told me a trick not to route to Indian call center. TOur agent ask me to select Chinese language options, and get myself route to a Chinese. The Chinese operator will not bull shit you and they will get the job done.

Indian invented this Dharma concept but Indian failed in their Dharma.

I have wrote letter to SIA. SIA love Indians. They never take any action. I got so piss that I wrote to SIA CEO. Then his lackey call me.

I told him I like to call India call center for amusement and I am doing vigilant for SIA. Mother fucker SIA manager tell me something like this, cant remember exactly-- YOU SHOULD NOT CALL TO INDIAN CALL CENTER IF YOU KNOW HOW TO AVOID THEM.

    FUCK SIA

Any company who employ Indians and impose caste system on people, as well as trying to fuck their customer will soon get shit.

I will see the bankruptcy of Citi, Qualcomm in my life time. I have seen proud SUN go broke.

  12. Just take another look at the name of this cuntry:

    SINGAPORE

The PORE at the rear sounds like some city in India so is it any wonder that we just simply love the Indians. SIA, Singtel, whatever, all the blue cheap GLCs of someone's pipe dream.

That motherf@#ker, not you, red bean was talking cock just to make his cuntry look good. We seem to be a sewarage depot for second rate graduands from second rate universities. Non of their universities ever made the top ten. That tells you lots.

And if we are not fooled again, to that Pinoy family who is leaving...Please go and don't come back. You're not welcomed. My uncle had to drive a taxi to ferry people like you to the airport. Before the sell out, he was an IT expert, just like you. His biggest fault was, he asked for a higher salary just to put food on the table for his family of four in high priced pressure cooker island and was crossed out at the interview.

Please chase out more of these trash before 2016.

  15. Ngiam Tong Dow today admit companies here not taking fresh grad and depriving our young people from starting out. Over the years, PAP are screwing our young people as I have keep ranting and ranting. PAP has knew the problem long time ago. Singapore is the only country in the world that hates its young people. Elsewhere, every company has a training headcount to bring up fresh grad. Everywhere except Singapore.

Everyone want to give their young people a chance. In Singapore, PAP want to impose caste system. They mass import people so that Singaporean can suffer like dalits in India.

PAP thinks the more the FT Indians screw us the better. PAP hates Singaporeans. LKY will put salt in the wounds to say we are stupid and lazy.

"We shouldn't buy trophies," he said. "The best thing is to train our own people and give them the experience… we were spending over $6 billion trying to raise productivity.

"I found out that we have 30,000 trained workers each year, if we took into account the graduates fro all our universities, polytechnics and institutes of technical education!" he continued. "Yet, our employers refuse to take them on because they say that while the graduates may have the theories, they may not be able to do the job!"

  17. 'the lack of IT and banking and finance professionals.'

    - the root cause of the lack is due to gov policy in capping the amount of people studying for medicine, laws, it, banking, finance etc. thats why many parents sent their kids overseas because the local universities closed their doors on their very own local people. the reason: they do not want sinkies to become wiser, more educated. they only want sinkies to be average so they can rule forever. they do not want another rb or leong sze han who challenged them from time to time. it is a very selfish mentality of the chinese elites started from ancient times.

  18. Dear ALL, its all our own fault... we local sinkies keeps kicking ourselves... instead of supporting each other, we are shaving the knives up each others back....

My team of experience IT professionals were starting out on our own, instead of getting help from local SMEs, everyone is short changing us along the way... paying 2 days for 4 days work, paying 4k for 10k job, paying 2k for 100k job, how do we survive??? but they willingly go pay good stupid price for some other shit work by ah neh and ang mo???? This is the truth in the current business environment in Sinkieland..... really SHIT for locals... have we reach the point of no return??????
