Pension gone!

Read in the paper that the pensions for office holders, MPs and top govt officers have been scrapped. I presume office holders include ministers as well. And those still serving, on reaching 55 and eligible for pension will not be able to get paid their pension together with their monthly salary, which in toto, is getting two salaries at the same time instead of one.

As they said, things that cannot stand the scrutiny of justice and fairness will have to go when discovered. The principle of clean wage system as Chee Hean said, must stay clean. Anything unclean must go. The disturbing question is how could unclean stuff get into a clean system manned by highly honourable and righteous men and women?

This one is definitely not about bad policy, just unclean.

Imaging how much these double incomers pocketed all these years? That is 1 reason why I vote any party except PAP.

  11. Please understand that so long as the money and the white attired people and their succeeding generations remain in Sin, it should be fine. At least the money has not flew or flow out of the tiny dot.
But, not sure if the above-said is the case or not.
    Anyone knows?

  12. Pension gone has little dent on the financial standing of most m/wiw. They have tons of money that will last for many generations.

  14. Is it not said by DPM Teo that pension can still be awarded to the spouse and child(ren) under certain circumstances ?

  15. "Office holders appointed on and after May 21 last year, when the new Government took office, will not receive any pension. Those appointed before May 21 will have their pensions frozen and be eligible only for pensions accrued up to May 20 last year."

    Redbean,

so they are saying that old fart, mbt, george yeo, and rest of previous mini-clowns responsible for the pathetic plight of singapore are not receiving pension anymore ?

Can confirm or not ? We know well that interpretation of English words by God/Demi-god can be oppositely differently
lesser mortals. PAP words can be twisted and turned that white becomes black and vice versa, and so like to confirm with the Immortal One like Redbean

Can someone find out the term of references for this pension cut-off law ? Old fart and the rest could be exempted from these changes and still receiving pension because they could be exception ?

  17. Double confirmed. The yodas and ancients will still be getting their pension. Chok Tong, Boon Heng, George and those before them and some after them would still be getting the pension. Count 8 years backwards for duration as office holders.

So they are still drawing pension without taking any responsbilities and accountabilities for the sorry state of SinCity cause by them in the first place ? Who the fu#@ck they are ? They are the most expensive clowns on earth, and in the whole universe (unless Obama can prove to us that Aliens from outer space draw even larger pension, i stand correct )

Old Fart definitely has the last laugh because he totally the first and only to continue to draw pension till his dying breathe even though he is the mastermind of the plight of Singapore !

  19. "Anything unclean must go" unquote.

Anything unclean can just be legalised to become clean. There are lots of examples. The problem is, whoever pass the laws sets the rules.

Don't play play. billion-dollars Biopolis might have already created the elixir of immortality to prolong the life of old fart to live a thousand years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elixir_of_life

We could be the first country to create such elixir. One who controls his life span control his destiny.

  24. Red bean, so it's misleading to state that pensions all gone right? It's all gone for most but not all people?

  25. "Office holders appointed on and after 21 May 2011, when the new government took office, will not receive any pension.

Those appointed before 21 May will have their pensions frozen and be eligible only for pensions accrued up to 20 May 2011.

The change affects all office holders, from parliamentary secretaries all the way to the prime minister."

    Redbean,
let me ask you a question. Don't you think it purposely word it to be misleading if those greedy buggers still receive pension as this is 2012 not 2011 ?

"Those appointed before 21 May will have their pensions frozen and be eligible only for pensions accrued up to 20 May 2011."

  26. First cut off date, 21 May 2011. Anyone appointed on or after this date, no more pension when hitting 55.

Second condition. Those appt holders with less than eight years of service as of the above date, also no pension.

Thirdly, those with more than 8 years of service, pension frozen and will only get pension if they are no longer in service and presumably not 55.

I can only presume that those who are already collecting their pension, who are passed 55 years, will continue to receive their pensions and pay. This part is silent. I stand to be corrected.

  27. I observe that using this word 'scrap' to describe the discontinuation of the pension scheme is misleading many people and I do not blame them. The word generally seems to give the impression that once it is announced that pension is 'scrapped' or abolished,it means that all civil servants are to stop receiving pension, even those who have retired in the 70s 80s and 90s and who are now enjoying their pensions must suddenly stop drawing pension. This is really misleading. I think it is better to say that the pension is being phased out stage by stage. In fact the plan to discontinue the pension scheme started gradually in the 70's starting from junior civil servants in the 70s and 80s and progressing to the executive service and finally the administrative service and the MPs, ministers and PM recently. But as long as the framework, the procedures, processes are still in place it will be misleading to say the pension has been 'scrapped'.This framework, rules and regulations are needed to administer the scheme. Without these, a pensioner who commits an offence, for example, can claim that the government has no right to deny him of his pension as there is no longer any rules to take away his pension even if he is an offender.
So, IMHO the pension can only be finally 'scrapped' when all those receiving pension and all those who will be receiving them rightfully are dead and gone. And that is a long way off.
