China again the Sick Man of Asia
Despite its new status as the second super power, China is behaving like the Sick Man of Asia once again. And Japan is treating China as such and telling the Chinese it is ok. They are going to proceed with a scam to buy Chinese islands they looted from China during the days of gunboat diplomacy and Unequal Treaties. And they even said the Chinese would not feel hurt.
The whole episode tells two things. The Japanese are back to their militaristic past and will gang bang China and think they can get away with it. On the part of China, it is behaving like the Sick Man of Asia of the past, allowing the Japanese to kick it around at will.
Though it is China’s policy of not bullying a smaller nation, and trying to use diplomacy to solve international problems, Japan is no small power but a military power in its own right. It is bullying China and not the other way. Japan is not the Philippines or Vietnam. It is necessary to stand up to this militaristic nation that is bent to assume its imperial past as a military power.
China cannot avoid a conflict with Japan as Japan believes it can take on China. China cannot avoid trouble when trouble comes knocking at its door. Like the saying, 无事不早事,有事不怕事, China have to act in the Diaoyu case. Once the Japanese get away with the buying and selling of Diaoyu and China could not do anything about it, it becomes a fait accompli, a justification to be used in the future to strengthen the Japanese claim on the island.
It is time to send in the naval ships to patrol the island, and even erect a sentry post to tell the Japanese China means business. As Deng Xiaoping said, sovereignty is not negotiable. Definitely China cannot negotiate with the conniving and cheating Japanese. Doing nothing is not an option and will be seen as a sign of weakness, and in the Japanese mind, inviting trouble.
无事不找事,有事不怕事
ReplyDeleteThanks The. I had difficulties trying to locate the word 'Zao' from the translator and had to make do with the the morning 'zao'.
ReplyDeleteChina had been sicked many times throughout it's past.
ReplyDeleteGetting sick again will not surprised anyone. Then, it maybe just sick in the heart now and may decide that having a big heart all the time is just no use. And decide time for action to teach the cockerel and monkey by skinning them. It can happen.
What China needs to do is to ignore the Empire and the housewife that is trying to act cute. It has to behave like a big power and tell the monkeys and cockerels not to mess around with her. This is the time to 杀猴吓鸡 and not the other way round.
ReplyDeleteIf China allows the Japanese to run around her, then everyone will do likewise.
China must not forget what the Japanese told Li Hung Chang, that China was weak and thus inviting al the troubles from aggression.
ReplyDeleteChina must carry the big stick and be prepared to use it. Only then will its trouble with the pesky countries stop. At the moment they are acting such thinking and knowing that China would not dare to use its power.
The Chinese did it recently by threatening to sick the Filipino's antique battleship at Scarborough and they ran with their tails between their legs. Talking to the Japanese is useless. The South Koreans are handling the Japanese in a much better and more positive way by telling the Japanese to fuck off from Dokdo and there was nothing to negotiate or go to the ICT. And Lee Myung Bak just flew to the islands to demonstrate ownership.
What did China do? Trying to act polite to the thieves that only know the right of might?
For all You know, China could just wait for the right time to skin the cockerel and monkey without killing any.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I cannot understand. If the islands belong to Japan as claimed, why must there be a need for them to buy those islands? Something is not right!
ReplyDeleteJapan cooked up a small Japanese man who claimed to own the islands. He must be a descendant of the uninhabited islands or he must have bought it from someone who bought it from someone....
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese still think this is 19th Meiji Restoration and they could used the same old dirty tricks on China.
"The Japanese still think this is 19th Meiji Restoration and they could used the same old dirty tricks on China"
ReplyDeleteWhy not ? It works for old fart and PAP, surely it can also work for the Japanese. They are the living proof of what is possibly Uniquely Japan like Uniquely Singapore.
"China must carry the big stick and be prepared to use it. Only then will its trouble with the pesky countries stop. At the moment they are acting such thinking and knowing that China would not dare to use its power."
ReplyDeleteOf course China would not actually go to war over the Senakku islands. As Bo Xilai amply demonstrated, most of the top CCP leadership have vast assets in the West.
Going to war with Japan will inevitably trigger an asset freeze and the lost of most of their personal fortune. Not to mention the embarrasment of their wealth being exposed.
Meanwhile, Japan has had effective control of the Senkakus for close to a hundred and twenty seven years, barring the twenty year American occupation. As far as the CCP leadership is concerned, the whole island debacle makes a good distraction.
"Japan cooked up a small Japanese man who claimed to own the islands. He must be a descendant of the uninhabited islands or he must have bought it from someone who bought it from someone...."
Actually, the current owner of the islands, well former owners now inherited the islands from the Satsuma daimyo who conquered the islands way back in the 17th century. As was the Japanese practice than, the Ryukyu kingdom then acknowledged both the Qing and the Satsuma as overlords and paid tribute to both. That is, until 1895 when the last Ryukan king was brought to Tokyo.
AS Ryukyu was a vassal to both the Qing and Japan and the fact that the Qing lost a war over control of Korea and the islands, the Japanese have a stronger claim.
The Ryukyu lr LiuChiutao were independent kingdom. They were conquered by the Japanese and taken over. Now they are made the sacrificial lamb with the island hosting the American forces and nuclear weapons. In case of war with China, the islands will be hit and destroyed first.
ReplyDeleteAnd the islanders were not really of the same stock as the Japanese.
As for Diaoyutai, even at the end of the 19th century, the Japanese acknowledged it as part of the Qing Dynasty's territorial limits. They only grabbed it after the war and Treaty of Shimonoseki.
So war is the justification to own the island and war should be what China should do to take back the islands, including the Liuchiutao from the Japanese.
War is just and the legal means to acquire other country's land?

ReplyDeleteChina sends patrol ships to islands held by Japan
BEIJING (AP) — A territorial flare-up between China and Japan intensified as two Beijing-sent patrol ships arrived near disputed East China Sea islands in a show of anger over Tokyo's purchase of the largely barren outcroppings from their private owners.
The China Marine Surveillance has drawn up a plan to safeguard China's sovereignty of the islands and the ships were sent to assert those claims, China's official Xinhua News Agency said Tuesday. The marine agency is a paramilitary force whose ships are often lightly armed.
Hi chin chia poor, welcome to the blog. China and the Koreas have been kicked around by the Japs for too long. And the Japs still think they could continue to do so.
ReplyDeleteTime to settle old scores if the Japs refuse to repent and return the loots of war and aggression.
Ah, just when the entertainment couldn't get any better...
ReplyDelete...it's all "hush-hush" with China's politics at the moment. Oh how the power's are shifting...
Could it be a CIA plot, or perhaps those Jew-bankers...maybe it's the reptilian aliens, or some elaborate Jap conspiracy...or just simply politicians behaving like their normal asshole selves and sabo'ing each other (nothing new there).
I love wild cards. Anything goes. No one can say.
Got political kung-fu?
So why China so afraid to occupy the island or fire the first shot to show that she is not sick ? Is she so afraid of Godzilla or what ? Scare that Japan will unleash Ultraman, pokemon, Zoid, Kamen Rider, and mass of Gundam against China ? don't China has support of Kungfu Panda, jackie chan , and also REDBEAN ?
ReplyDeletefukus, aka *shit stirrer* never rest does he ?
ReplyDeletewaiting in the wing, chuckling to himself
waiting for china to make the wrong move

what i mean...
ReplyDeletefukus never rest does he
tam, sars, bird flu, tibet, xinjiang, tw, scs, ecs ?
"fukus, aka *shit stirrer* never rest does he ?
ReplyDeletewaiting in the wing, chuckling to himself
waiting for china to make the wrong move"
At last, finally encounter true shit stirrer Denk. How can i rest if you don't rest ?
Use your brain. How can China make the wrong move when there is no move at all ? China can threaten and cow peh cow bu until the bull fly over the moon but it is nothing but noise. And in the mean time, Japan making the first move, buying over the island, try to occupy, tell me which one deserves to have the island ?
How to make wrong move when there's nothing to move , dude ? Use mouth and eye power so far. Has super power like X-men or not ?
Now agree with title that China again the sick man of asia. When is china is going to wake up and stop complaining and threatening , and start doing serious business ? Can't fire a shot, can't occuppy island, can't resolve it internationally through legal means, can't do this and do that... so what is the point of complaining ?
Maybe they should start having national conversation with denk.
denk is right. The Americans are behind the current heighten tension in East and Southeast Asia. Everyone knows. They are trying to force China to show hand and then tell the silly Asians, see, China is a bully.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that the Japanese is still bullying China. China as a big power and afraid of using its power will only see little pests running around pulling its whiskers.
China's policy of restraints is not working. The Japanese, Koreans, Vietnam and even the Philipines, have been arresting Chinese fishing boats. It is very shameful for a big power to suffer at the hands of little countries.
China, like it or not, will be branded as an aggressive power, a bully. It is better to slam a few little countries, even Japan, to keep the pests away. Yes, it is better to be feared than to be treated with contempt by the pests.
"They are trying to force China to show hand and then tell the silly Asians, see, China is a bully."
ReplyDeleteSo Redbean, what you want China to do then ? Silly Asian or not silly, what exactly did you want China to do ?
You tell us evil USA do this and do that but yet did not suggest anything like denk ? Show hand or not show hand, what did you want China to do then ?
Anon 8:52, you mean you still did not know what redbean wants China to do? Is redbean's comments so difficult to comprehend?
ReplyDeleteChina should do nothing except to listen and watch.
ReplyDeleteLet the playful people play, they will be tired of playing or they will have to rest.
patriot
The US Ambassador got killed in Libya. What did the Americans do? Send in two destroyers immediately. Big power acts like big power.
ReplyDeleteWhat would China do if it were caught in the same situation? Nothing. Japan arrested Chinese in Chinese water around Diaoyu Island. What did China do, nothing. Japan created a farce purchase of the islands. What did China do? Nothing except sending two research vessels to survey the area.
China should just zip its mouth if it intends to do nothing in the face of a Japanese slap.
ReplyDeleteHi GI Joe, welcome to the blog. China for once, has sent in 6 surveillance ships to the Daioyutai. This is the strongest signal that it is ready to confront the Japs.
ReplyDeleteIt is about time. China has to act like a big power and not be bullied by smaller powers and pests if it wants to be respected or at least feared. Otherwise they would keep coming to pull its whiskers.
