Racial Harmony Day

Vivian is talking about racial harmony and the need to be mindful, conscious and sensitive to this delicate balance in our multi racial society. We have been talking a bit about such issues and the perception and bitterness of the minority that they are discriminated and disadvantaged. I wish such issues can be resolved once and for all and everyone can live happily thereafter. The reality is that discrimination will be there in all countries and societies, racial discrimination, religious discrimination, social and economic discrimination, even in our case, local born or foreign born, new or old citizens. Human beans are born with a little sainthood in everyone and a little devil as well. How much sainthood and devil in a person varies, genetic, biological, social, wealth, education etc, will all affect a person's mindset. At times it is circumstances, environmental. But this does not mean that we shall live with discrimination. What we can hope for is that discrimination is not permitted by law and practice. The individual part is more difficult to deal with as any incident can be changed from a disagreement between two losers into a racial thing. Let me quote an incident when two guys were having kopi in East Coast Park Hawker Centre. They sat in a table next to a couple. The man told off one of the guys for wearing shorts as it violated his wife who was there. The two guys could have stood up and told the man off which could end up in a fight. If they were of the same race, it would be just a quarrel and a fight. If different races were involved, it could be flamed as a racial dispute. If we keep on wearing the colour lenses and look at things in our chosen colour, we will continue to live in a world of colours. We can also remove our colour lenses and try to make the best out of the system. America has the most laws to protect its people from human rights and racial discrimination. It is also the country that flouted these laws the most, and racial discrimination is not only history but existing daily and in very bad forms and dosages. We have done very well in our minority majority relationship and a live and let live ethos. Everyone, minority or majority, will be treated as fairly and equally under our laws. There will be the odds and difficult situations and occurrences. But generally, we are doing ok and will keep improving as we move forward. What we must be wary of is for small groups of agitators that will want to flame every incident and turn it into a big issue. We can handle issues or problems as human beans or as colour beans. It is all in our mindset.

  1. I saw the world through colourless circumstances and environment until both circumstances and environments has brought me to a colourful prism. Call it revenge or racist, I am here to stay and to do the bidding of what other had done unto some of us, hypocrite.

Keep the harmony majority. Don't want loose cannon like me. a Majority in one's country will become a minority in another and these days of www and ect, it is easy to insight.

  2. Nowadays, there are 2 more races: Bloggers and non-bloggers.

Bloggers express and project their point of views in the open. Non-bloggers do not.

Among the many sincere bloggers, there are pretentious bloggers who uses writing skill to falsely impressed the public. Man-made synthetic images they have created through extensive writing of blog posts, with intent to tell the world how golden their hearts are, when actually, in real life, in person, they could be those who are most brutal emotionally.

People who don't blog, might be those who does real social work, contribute money, time & effort to really help the needy. Without a blog to bring on any public attention.

Note: I am not referring to Red Bean or Matilah here. I am referring to some bloggers out there.

  3. "The man told off one of the guys for wearing shorts as it violated his wife who was there."

    Redbean, are you serious?

The wife is probably stealing surreptitious views of the hunks sitting next to her impotent dried up husk of a husband. Telling the hunk off is just an excuse not to accentuate his own run down physique.

The two guys should just wallop the sorry wimp and continue with their meal.

    LMAO

On a more serious note, Singapore is a model for others to follow when it comes to promoting racial harmony. We walk the talk.

Jaunty Jabber you said what i wanted to say in simple English.

Bloggers who steer left & right like a rudderless boat in open ocean will go in circles.

Red Bean - you said ONCE and FOR ALL - that is definitive ..... then you go for soft landing..

You are hoping someone will land the hard one for you?

Such petty infraction imperfect as it is happens everyday in all society & deserves no attention.

What you glaring missed is the driven ideology behind the "intectual " push which is essence to some people who would walked a bomb strapped onto their chest and killed & maimed. This is the same intellectual push which is far more glaring than minor infractions you talked about.

This was when Mas was out in the cold and his faces plastered all over.

Perhaps only bloggers like you have time to flame. BTW, you think they care when billiions are at stake. Only the clueless is still running a police state when everyone else is running after the millions.

  8. hi anonymous, we are not here for any landing, hard or soft. people who seek some kind of landing will be playing for some stakes. we are here chatting. i don't encourage anyone to go for any landing here.

yes, for minor infractions, they are mainly the result of simple minds that think otherwise. such incidents must simply be so regarded. not many are bright enough or intellectual enough or wise enough to leave human foibles alone. all races have such people, in fact the masses are highly prone to exhibit them. so people should not jump to conclusion and shout, there you see, racial discrimination. many live in their own little simple world.

intellectual push or emotional push, ideological or religious, national pride or a little craziness, all can lead human beans to do exceptional things. some of these people are so base that they would not even what is right or wrong, let alone ideologies and dogmas. they simply got emotionally involved or mentally charged to do things without much thinking. in simple words, they could be flamed by the smarter ones to do their dirty works, to become martyrs.

  9. Redbean, sorry that I have almost cause a misunderstanding. There is of course NO room for me to be angry at u.

Your topic today elicited a thought to me on how some bloggers live on and off line.

Blogger, when they blog well with a good mask, may even get public recognition, despite how they really behave in their real lives.

On a blog, blogger says want to help disadvantaged people, outside blog, the blogger is the one who bring disadvantages to people by robbing away advantages from people.

  10. if one examine deep into the words how sentences are constructed and paraphrase; do a reverse take on the psychic of the writer as how thoughts were processed and how the writer set directions to inspire readers on his/hers analytical power...

just try read it over twice and you will come to the same conclusion.. there is nothing there at all - just words bantering around.

they have created through extensive writing of blog posts, with intent to tell the world how golden their hearts are, when actually, in real life, in person, they could be those who are most brutal emotionally.

Cheers to the last sentence it have raw fire-power. Talk about losers.

  12. hi anonymous,

bantering of words is a very useful past time. it keeps the grey matter cranking. and words, written well, form a deep impression on people, some get poke, some get jab, some get a good laugh.

  14. Hi Folks;

'Do what I say but don't do what I do'; sounds familiar ? Oh yes, just do what I say.

I love my children more than other people; I am born to discriminate in favour of my offsprings.

And I suspect all of us do !
