US soon will ban Deepseek. Too good and too cheap to compete

Never underestimate China, but unfortunately the USA and the West clearly underestimated China. That four-decade rapid rise of China and the lifting of 800 million Chinese out of poverty should have been a lesson learnt, but arrogance gets in the way.

The bigger problem is still trying to flog a dying horse that could not compete and expecting it to win the race. The Chinese have already won most races it entered and competed in, save for the last high-end chip and AI race. But the writing is already on the wall. The AI competition is not a sure-win race for the USA, with Chinese AI innovators coming up with comparatively cheap and competitive AI platforms that are cannibalizing the earnings of USA tech giants.

Now there is talk about a ban on DeepSeek in the USA coming. The adoption of DeepSeek's AI open-source platform is causing huge losses for the multi-billion tech giants of the USA. They are tottering and needed the USA Government to save them by banning open-source AI from Chinese companies. I guess this is the usual modus operandi of the USA Government. Where it cannot compete, it will demonize and ban using the template 'National Security' excuse. Or enact laws to take over such companies operating in the USA, just like Tik Tok.

  1. I just wonder what Western intelligence are doing, with all their spying activities, and still failing to understand China and allowing China to eat their breakfast, lunch and even dinner. There is a heavy price to be paid for arrogance as always, and the USA and the West have still not realized their ill besotted folly trying to contain China.

Take EVs as an example. For years they thought China can never be a serious vehicle manufacturer or make anything game changing. China was never a credible vehicle making country like the USA, Europe and Japan. History is there to confirm, or so they think. Elon Musk tried to show his arrogance by swiping away the question about Chinese EVs competing against him, while he was sitting at the top of the heap. Both started at about the same time, with Elon Musk's Tesla sitting pretty at the top. I do not think Musk will forget his arrogant attitude today.

Now another folly is unfolding in the chips and AI sector. The USA and the West, including Japan, Taiwan and South Korea still believe that China is years away from being a serious competitor. In ordinary scheme of things, that could be absolutely true. But by pushing China against the wall, they are writing their own epitaph without realizing it. What intelligence they now have about Chinese high tech is just based on speculation. The same about every other sector.

I believe China's 5G system has demolished all semblance of USA intelligence gathering. Moreover, moving away from using USA and Western computers and software has closed all the avenues for spying by the USA and the West. Oh, perhaps Trump is thinking of selling compromised chips to China for spying purposes, with built in backdoors, lol. China probably could see the agenda behind the plot. But all that attempt by the USA is now pure fantasy when China becomes self-dependent. Let us wait and see.
