As the one who commented above said, it is becoming a sport to be recognize about 'targeting of opposition candidates' that the ruling party excels in.
But the WP is bigger than Pritam Singh or whoever leads it. And opposition voters in Hougang, Aljunied and Sengkang may still continue to make sure their constituencies be the hands of the opposition, which is causing consternation within the PAP. It has to find a way to get rid of the thorn in its side.

Why not target Hougang, the unsinkable aircraft carrier, and the root of the Worker's Party? Sinking Hougang would also sink Aljunied and Sengkang perhaps, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe PAP thought that pressuring Low Thia Khiang out of Hougang will enable them to retake Hougang. Co-incidentally the PAP was also pressuring Chiam See Tong to quite Potong Pasir as well. Potong Pasir did fall to the PAP after Chiam See Tong left. But Hougang was to be a massive miscalculation that resulted in the loss of Aljunied GRC, then held by several big guns including then Foreign Minister George Yeo yet still fell to the minister-less Worker's Party.
The PAP has all along been asking Low Thia Khiang to leave Hougang, while the opposition had tried to tell the old man to leave Tanjong Pagar and Woody to leave Marine Parade to contest elsewhere like what Low did. They did not take up the challenge.
