I was indeed surprised that the Thai foreign minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, on Channel News America said that he was himself surprised that Trump is going to be involved in the truce deal version 2, after the failure of version 1. Now, since the failure of truce deal version 1, who really wants Trump dipping his dirty hands into the whole affair, with the Thai foreign minister saying that he prefers any truce to be decided by the two parties themselves without outside interference. Clear and simple.
Trump's circus comes to town often and Trump merely wants to take any credit with his involvement. How many peace deals had he tried to broker between Russia and Ukraine. Any success so far? Just talking and posturing to make the stock market rise and fall is all there is to it. Yet he thinks he is the God Almighty able to do miracles anywhere he goes and boasting loudly about it from day one. The world has seen enough of his grotesque shenanigans over and over again. The man is so blatantly dishonest in his deals that it is a mystery why his base still supported him.
Trump has to take a leaf from China's Wang Yi, brokering the peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia, quietly, without fanfare, without loud boasting, without the USA involved and yet the deal still holds. Think about it.

DeleteWhile Trump is blowing his trumpet that a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia has been formalized, the Thai Prime Minister straight away cane out to say he is not on board. Which means that Trump is just crowing on his own dung heap as always, lying through his teeth.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of a truce is Trump talking about when just hours later both sides are shelling each other. Thailand and Cambodia should not place too much trust in Trump brokering a truce. They should try to settle the issue among themselves, rather than inviting Satan to do the holy stuff. For what?
China has kept a distance from the 'dog and pony show', while the Thai side is asking Anwar and Trump to open their eyes to see who restarted the shelling.
Now that truce version 2 between Thailand and Cambodia has undoubtedly failed, rest assured there will be more versions like between Russia and Ukraine, a situation supposed to be settled within 24 hours by a loud boaster. The show must go on, while peace is just a pipe dream, as someone needs war more than ever. War is actually beneficial for some people, especially it is an opportunity to garner a Nobel Peace Prize if a fake peace deal can be pulled off.
One question I have to ask, as I cannot keep quiet anymore. Why was Wang Yi not given the Nobel Peace Prize after brokering the Iran/Saudi Arabia peace deal. Did anyone find it hard to fathom?
Asking the devil to get involved in the Thailand/Cambodia conflict is as bad as asking Satan's help to build a church. It is asking for destruction instead of peace.
DeleteThe USA has a different agenda to look after. The USA is always geared for war, so asking the USA to broker a peace deal is just unbelievable.
The irony is they even have to wait for Trump to be present to go ahead with the 'dog and pony show'. I have lost much respect for ASEAN, really.
