China is playing a different military game from the USA

According to Kevin Walmsley on his site 'Inside China Business' China is doing things radically different from the USA and that is perhaps why John Mearsheimer is accusing China of abusing its military might by not following traditional rules. There are no rules when it comes to a country not willing to continue to allow itself to be bullied under such rules of engagement.

The USA is slowly being outflanked by Chinese military innovation, even with the benefit of experts in its military industrial complex by not thinking out of the box and still stuck with its mindset on building bigger aircraft carriers to project power.

China is going big into building drone carriers, the alternative to building aircraft carriers that are expensive to build, needed support ships for protection, carried thousands of expensive planes and very expensive to maintain with large crews, whose loss are going to be detrimental to the navy's power.

Drone carriers are cheaper to build; with drones they carried even cheaper to build than those expensive fighter jets costing hundreds of millions each. Besides that, drones carry no crew for active missions. China is now building military drones capable of taking off vertically from small vessels, even fishing vessels. We all know how many fishing vessels that China has around the seas with China the dominant ship builder in the world that nobody can now touch. Is that the reason the USA is trying to hype up the danger of China's shipbuilding industry as well?

In a word, when it comes to a war, China has a whole armada of small drone carriers that are game changers in every sense of the word. And these can be everywhere, ready to launch drones at targets that probably aircraft carriers do not have the luxury of carrying out close enough. Having said that, hypersonic missiles can probably do the job as well, which China is no laggard in their development.

  1. Playing the same game as the USA risks being left behind in military power upgrading, when the USA already has such a large number of nuclear weapons piled up over the decades. And the USA is already using bodies like the IAEA to monitor and control others from having nuclear weapons so that the USA can continue to dominate.

China has seen the whole picture of the futility of just aping the USA's arms buildup that crippled the former Soviet Union. Just building up nuclear devices does not solve the problem with rules dictated by the West. China has moved into new territory of military development - drone carriers, hypersonic missiles, electronic jammers that cripples communication between military assets, robots in place of human soldiers. That is going to be a different war that is coming, just like WW1 when tanks dictate the outcome and being different from WW2 when fighter planes and aircraft carriers did the dictating in terms of weaponry and tactics. The next war will be centered on drones, hypersonic missiles with aircraft carriers playing a diminishing role.
