Trump thinks his inauguration is a big deal, Xi does not think so

Trump is playing ball with Xi, probably giving Xi some tricky decisions to make with his invitation. According to some Chinese social media sites, Xi may just delegate some junior leaders to represent him, maybe even China's ambassador to the USA, complemented by other junior Government leaders.

This is one way for Xi to discreetly show how much significance the inauguration of Trump means to him. It may be a big occasion for the USA, but Xi will probably downplay its importance and demands no necessity for him to attend.

Xi does not travel that often, only on special trips of major significance, like the remembrance ceremony for the victims of the NATO strike on the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia, a discreet message to tell NATO that such an act is never forgotten. That trip was also tied in with a state visit to France, Serbia and Hungary

  3. The USA also thinks it is a big deal now by launching a formal investigation into Chinese legacy chips citing security reasons. Let us assume that as a result of such an investigation, the USA were to ban all Chinese legacy chips, what is going to be the consequence?

On the surface it is a step to deny Chinese legacy chips from being used in USA manufacturing, right? Wrong! Even the USA aircraft carriers, warships, drones, missiles and weapons made by the USA's Military Industrial Complex are still depending heavily on Chinese legacy chips. The USA wants to ban Chinese chips from being used by industries but kept discreetly mum about Chinese chips still being used in the USA military. See the hypocrisy?

Now, what will China do? China will do the same with USA made chips entering the Chinese market, citing National Security issues. National Security Issues are easy to use to target for convenience, but difficult to prove. The case of Huawei already says everything about the accusation. Where are the proofs after years of accusation?

40% of global chip production goes to feed China's Industries, be it EVs, solar panels, wind turbines and consumer products. That begs the question of who is losing more of whose chips market and whose semiconductor entities will suffer the greater damage? With all the huffing and puffing of rapidly setting up semiconductor manufacturing in the USA, even forcing foreign entities to set up facilities in USA, who are they going to sell the excess chips that those facilities are going to turn out in the face of a protracted chips war? McDonalds?

Biden is just busily setting up more time bombs for Trump, using his last days in office to do that. He wants to make sure Trump has no way to wriggle out of all the traps he sets. The good news arising from this is that both are going to make China and Russia even greater and the collapse of the USA faster and uglier.

    1. Biden and Trump and all the top advisors in the swamp are clueless how their policies are meant to work. They just pluck them from the air and thinks it will just work like a clock. Tik Tok, Tik Tok, Tik Tok........which they are even afraid of.

    2. What works under Trump? Oops failure would be a better word. Let me see:

We are going to make Mexico pay for the wall gloated Trump. It did not happen. Trade wars are easy to win boasted Trump. Not much winning is evident after all these years. Drain the swamp, shouted Trump. The swamp gets swampier and stinker every four years.

What works under Biden? More of the same as under Trump.

Russia will collapse with our sanctions. It looks like the EU is collapsing instead. We will bring back manufacturing to the USA, using subsidies which is not going to work and building up supply chains is too little too late. Denying China access to high-end chips just makes the Chinese pour more resources into chip development that will come back to haunt the USA, Japan and South Korea. It would have been better for USA not to poke the dragon by starting a technology war. Someone is going to regret it immensely.

Moreover, the USA and the West are now waking up to the hype about high-end chips, when the importance of legacy chips in so many sectors like the military have been overlooked. Now the USA is scrambling to target legacy chips which the Chinese already dominate. Now the USA is trying to shoot the feet of those who invested in building semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the USA. More subsidies?

    3. Not much that comes out of a Politician's mouth is believable. Believe in them at your own peril.

  4. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that Trump will be the person to end the USA as its last President. He was supposed to do that under his 45th Presidency, but number 47 is just as good riddance for the world.

  6. The White House is an excellent example of clown hiring clowns as advisors and every act or decision becomes a joke, good for a laugh.
