HONG KONG: Pro-democracy Hong Kong tycoon Jimmy Lai will on Wednesday (Nov 20) take the stand in his collusion trial, testifying in court for the first time despite five previous trials in almost four years.
Lai's case is one of the most prominent prosecutions under the national security law imposed by Beijing in 2020, with Western countries and rights groups demanding his release. CNA
Blessed in life with aplenty of wealth, why would Jimmy Lai not use his good fortune to do something more glorious, more meaningful and beneficial to his country and people? Does he think that with only money in his head and nothing else, he can run wild to undermine a country's national interest and the well being of his country men? Does he really believe in the fake American democracy that is anything but anti China and anti Chinese? Does he know or remember the sorrows, pain and tragedies the westerners committed against China and the Chinese people?
What had happened to China was in a big way caused by the invasion and plunder of the westerners. The century of humiliation was an era of oppression, discrimination and condemnation by the West against the Chinese Civilisation, coupled with continuous demonisation and suppression of the Chinese people and Civilisation as a condemned race, useless, no talent, good for nothing scum of the world.
The China today did not happen so easily but had to scrap and crawl from the abyss of human history, to regain its pride and dignity as a respectable people, a Civilisation that is not trash as painted and willed by the West. It is not a mean task, but very arduous, painful and extremely difficult for anyone, any govt to do so. No one, especially the West, would ever believe that China can be what it is today, an advanced nation with the best scientific, engineering and technology talents, to be in the fore front of innovation and creation to benefit the Chinese people and the world.
Rich people like Jimmy Lai and many other Chinese in China and the diaspora should make use of their blessing to promote and assist the revival of the Chinese nation and Civilisation to be the best it could be, and not to be traitors or running dogs of the West, to work with the white savages to bring down the good work of the Chinese Communist Party and the good men and women in Zhongnanhai.
There were many mistakes done in the early and very difficult years of building an extremely poor and bankrupt nation from scratch. Chinese leaders then were not that fortunate to have received the best education and knowledge to rebuild the country. It was trial and error, 摸水过河, and no one was wiser. But the mission and objective of the first generation of revolutionary leaders were to rebuild China as quickly as possible. Without the availability of talented scientists, engineers and technocrats, the task was enormous and daunting. Blaming the failures or mistakes of the first generation leaders was inappropriate and unfair. Who was so smart and clever to do it right from the start without the resources, funding and knowledge to do the job? Other than a few returned scholars from the West, the pioneering leaders of China were mostly peasants and farmers with little education.
Blessed rich Chinese in China and overseas must use their blessing and wealth to further the revival of the Chinese nation and Civilisation instead of being intoxicated by the lies and misinformation and mischiefs of the West to undermine the progress of China. From now onwards, with the availability and abundance of well educated leaders in science, engineering and technology, China will make lesser mistakes and can only move ahead faster to better the life of its people.
The new Great Leap Forward is happening now and is unlike the days of ignorance and limited knowledge and knowhow. China's rise and growth to be an advanced and modern and rich technological and scientific nation state will be unstoppable and will progress much more smoothly and rapidly than before.
All Chinese everywhere must contribute to this renaissance of the Chinese Civilisation, not to be a spoil sport or a spanner in the works, to spoil the good work being done in the last few decades. The Chinese people have never had a better way of life, living standards in the last two centuries. Thanks to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party to bring about this great beneficial change to the Chinese people and the Chinese Civilisation.
PS. Would rich Chinese like Jimmy Lai think they can do a better job than the CPC leaders to build a better China than what it is today? Or would they think the Americans and the West would allow China to be better than them, to be the most advanced and richest country in the world?
Nury Vittachi on his site 'Fridayeveryday' just put up piece on this topic titled 'Claims that HK unfairly jailed 45 activists are missing the real story'. Do watch it.
ReplyDeleteThe National Endowment for Democracy (NED) the regime changing arm of the USA had invested more than two decades in trying to create chaos in Hongkong poring in huge sums of money too. Its failure in Hong Kong was a huge setback, but it is still engaged in such activities in many other places like Moldova, Georgia and closer to home in Myanmar, Cambodia and I suspect eventually in Malaysia, not to promote democracy but more in retaliation over its recent stance.
The fact is that failure seems to derail its nefarious activities all over the world lately. In Russia, huge resources were expended to cultivate Alexei Navalny in the hope of festering a regime change in Moscow to get rid of Putin. His death puts everything into the garbage bin, and all the investments turned into dust. As expected, Putin was blamed for his death. Now, they are cultivating his widow to take over.
Elsewhere many attempts were being made to topple the legally elected Venezuelan leader Nikolas Maduro and trying to install a stooge so that the USA can have access to Venezuela's massive oil reserves. Trump even gloated that he wants to steal the oil reserves. Fancy that!
Another example was in an attempted regime change in Kazakhstan in 2022, which resulted in the intervention by Russia to help stem the riots. And how can we forget Xinjiang, where the radicalized Uyghur Muslims were roped in to create unrest and terrorism issues. That failed too!
Evil Brits just launched their cruise missiles into Russia from Ukraine. Putin now has a legitimate target to nuke. Maybe he should start with the American and Brit Embassies in Kiev. Or the Brit military base in Cyprus.
ReplyDeleteWell, when human are poor, they strike to be rich. When human are rich, they will look for other interesting thing to venture into, irregardless of whether it benefit or cause problem to other people. There are lot of people who started out on a good cause, but along the way if too much money/power is accumulated then thing may turn nasty. It also apply to those who lead "protest" for certain cause. In Singapore, man in white want be MPs/Minister for the money. In America, rich man want to be POTUS for power/fun.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Lai thinks he can make money so he is smart and know what is good for China and can run China. Some of these foolish rich people are just plain lucky, but with empty heads, just like Trump and George Bush Jr.
ReplyDeleteHi Anon 11.17
DeleteNot lucky! All these Rich Bastards capitalised on the sweat and tears of the labour working masses.
Only those who striked Rich are different.
Period!
Chinese Civilization is everlasting and unlike other civilizations which had long disappeared it has survived for over 5,000 years. Chinese civilization can last so long because it has never indulged in foreign aggressions and foreign wars. On the contrary China has always been subjected to foreign agrressions and foreign invasions. First for thousands of years China has always been attacked by invading border tribes from Central Asia and Siberia which is north of the Heilongjiang River. China was frequently raided by the savage tribes of the Hsiung Nus from the north western border and the Mongols and Khitans. China always pacified these invading tribes with diplomacy and with huge gifts of food and provisions as well as building the Great Wall of China stretching over 12,000 miles to prevent them from invading China.
ReplyDeleteBut from the 16th century AD, China faced a more menacing and more dangerous type of aggressions from the barbaric European countries and Japan. These new barbarians came with modern firearms and were more determined to attack and invade China. China was caught unprepared and as a result lost millions of square miles of Chinese territories to Russia, England, France, Germany and Japan.
From 1800s to 1948 China faced a mortal danger to survival of her sovereignty as a nation and civilization. However, during this critical period many unknown Chinese heroes arose and came to help and lead millions of Chinese patriots to resist and fight the foreign invaders.
From 1931 to 1945 Japan started a very fierce and brutal war of aggression against China. During this critical time China was unfortunate to also face a civil war between the Kuomintang or Nationalist Party of brainless Chiang Kai-Shek and the noble patriotic Chinese Communist Party ( CCP ) of Mao Tse-Tung.
During this period of Japanese invasion many overseas Chinese people and the Chinese Clan Associations donated funds to fight the Japanese. Rich Chinese millionaires and clan associations not only contributed to Chinese defense funds but also helped to provide various Chinese cities with schools and universities to help giving Chinese youths better education. The most notable overseas Chinese patriot and millionaire was Tan Kah Kee who built many schools and universities in Xiamen ( Amoy ), Canton, Shanghai and Nanking.
Indeed and in fact the overseas Chinese diaspora had contributed in some small ways to help China defeat imperial Japan and thus saved the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization.
