France is also in trouble with reported recession in its
industrial sector. There is no way Europe can hope to progress and hang
on to industrialization, without cheap Russian energy. In fact, the EU
was able to prosper over the decades leveraging on cheap Russian energy.
Now that is gone for good.
Russia is unlikely to pivot supplies
back to Europe and the USA is strongly against that possibility. Which
is why destroying the Nord Stream pipelines was to prevent Europe going
back to Russia for energy when the Ukraine War reaches its conclusion,
thus competing with the USA once again.
The USA cannot
realistically compete with Russia energy supply to Europe. USA gas
delivery by ship to Europe is never going to be cheaper than Russian gas
through pipelines. It is a no brainer to compare.

Europe is toast following the USA. When you have the one-eyed leading the blind, going into the sewers is still following a direction, but at what cost?
ReplyDeleteNow Trump wants Europe to foot more of NATO's defense budget, a posture he already made during his first term, when Europe is already on the edge of bankruptcy. It does not just rain but pours for Europe. Europe should have started on having its own defense plan without the USA involved.
Suffice to say, without the USA in NATO, expansion of NATO would have been more tempered and relations with Russia would not have descended into a more confrontational approach. Why would Europe want to extend NATO into Ukraine to antagonize Russia? Europe would now not have to suffer an energy crisis, a path that Angela Merkel had tried to avoid all along. She had a cordial relationship with Putin for most of her chancellorship.
Meanwhile, I am waiting for Trump to end the Ukraine War in 24 hours, LOL.
The USA is giving the EU a rope to hang itself. That is why it is called 'EUrope'. Sounds just right!
