China dumping soya beans and corn purchases

China dumping soya beans and corn purchases after Trump's trade war in 2018 during his first term already sent a signal to Trump that trade wars are not as easy to win as he thinks.

And more than six years ago, China had by then already found alternatives to compensate for the supplies from the USA. That lesson did not sink in and now Trump wants a tariff war, also touted as easy to win. In those six years, the Chinese were not waiting for the USA to strangle China, but have been actively looking for solutions, building co-operation with partners, helping to purchase their agricultural products and raw materials. China is not wasting time trying to think of how to escalate tensions with enemies.

The tariff war is going to be the self-destruction of the USA. It is a war of USA consumers fighting the USA Government in actual fact, over additional taxes on Chinese products that is going to be self-defeating. The earlier the USA voters realize this, the better for them. What can they do about it is another question. Elections are just a Hobson's Choice for them. Both parties are not good for USA voters and for humanity at large.

  1. China is now dumping wheat purchases from the USA, pork from the EU and increasing brandy tariffs against France in particular. Macron pretended not to understand why China increased tariffs on brandy, same as China not understanding why the EU increased tariffs on EVs, LOL.

On the other hand, I think Brazil, Argentina and Russia understands perfectly why China is buying more from them and they are increasing their production, expecting more prosperity inspired by Chinese demands. Brazil and Argentina are expanding their grain acreage to cater to increase Chinese buying. Russia too is increasing its grain production and increasing pork production as well for the Chinese market. Everything is fitting in nicely with China taking a stand that is benefitting these three countries and strengthening its food security.

Indonesia will be next to benefit from Chinese agricultural substitution. And I would think Prabowo knows who is going to butter Indonesia's bread going forward. Even less knowledgeable beans like us knows how to separate the wheat from the chaff. Leaders have all the advisors to chart their decisions, but. I honestly am not talking about the USA or EU, where advisor's decisions have done more harm to the country than without them. Laughable really!

  2. Good advice does not come out of garbage trucks. What do we find in garbage trucks? Garbage of course, and they do not bode well for the country.

  3. China is quietly building up its food production, particularly fruits and vegetables. And it is not just about changing deserts into fertile land. China is going big in vertical farming and is today among the largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world. This is surprising, isn't it? Now, let not the West again accuse that this is another overcapacity that they are taking their eyes off, and later on suddenly found out the reality.

China has been experimenting with vertical vegetable farming using high-end technology of vegetable growing, achieving faster harvesting and at cheaper cost, many times cheaper than traditional mode of vegetable growing. Such vertical farming saves on water, insecticides and labor and soil pollution.

If this is not enough, China is doing equally well in research in aquaculture, building fish farms leveraging on cost savings and rearing fish less succumbing to diseases.

China places much priority today over food security, expanding domestic production and seeking alternative supplies from many sources. Such an important national security issue could be threatened by enemies cutting off supplies by imposing sanctions, which could jeopardize China's survival if not looked into early.
