The USA and EU are putting much pressure on Saudi Arabia
against following de-dollarization with its BRICS membership. We
probably will hear nothing about this in the MSM. We have to remember
that the Saudi Royal households, fifteen thousand in all, all have
massive investments in the USA and Europe together with movable assets
like yachts galore, which are under threat. MBS himself is therefore
under pressure to make sure asset seizure as happened with Russia, is
not going to happen to his country.
The USA is attempting to
create animosity between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as it is not in its
interest to have these two power players in the Middle East getting
friendlier after the peace deal brokered by China. Saudi Arabia is being
pressured to take sides, which if against Iran, is not in MBS interest.
Either way, MBS is in troubled waters. Moreover, the USA probably wants
the Saudis to counter the Houthis, as it did before the peace deal with
Iran. This is in the interest of the USA, with weapons sales and
keeping the Houthis at bay or busy around the Gulf region instead of
targeting Western naval vessels in the Gulf and Israel.
Of
course, if Iran gets its nuke, the USA will just let Saudi Arabia
sleep-walk into the nuclear club without the usual threat to the rest of
the world mantra.

The USA would very much like to create animosity between Iran and Saudi Arabia. There are obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteAny animosity between Iran and Saudi Arabia will allow the USA to control the Saudis with more weapons support to fight the Houthis, which is supported by Iran. Any co-operation between Iran and Saudi Arabia will stop the Houthis fighting the Saudis, which is bad for weapon sales to the Kingdom.
By the way, the USA professes to be against supporting Dictatorships, but Saudi Arabia is a dictatorship true and true. Yet the USA deals with Saudi Arabia like any other democracy. Hypocrisy?
Any differences existing between Iran and Saudi Arabia will also mean these two Middle East powers have different approaches to Israel, which will otherwise largely be left alone with the Iranian and Israelis immersed in their geopolitical differences. As the saying goes, any enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I do not expect the Saudis to completely change its loyalty towards the USA and migrate towards BRICS. The chips are too high. As I said before, the USA has an 'iron clad' hold on the Kingdom, with the Saudi Royals having substantial assets in the USA and Europe. That hold is the same as what Mickey Marcos is dealing with. You are either with the US or against the US. For MBS, the stakes are even higher.

ReplyDeleteSaudi Arabia rejects BRICs membership.
Too frightened of Regime Change.
Also too much Wealth and Assets to be confiscated by the Americunts.
Petro $$$ definitely collapsed if SA joins BRICs.
Actually, SA all the while in their Self interests ia the main Devils that brought so much miseries to the World with their tied up Petro $$$ with the Devils.
Spineless scums.
Not eat camels meats with their sand.
Russia boon time their oil and gas.
SinkingLand had to buy ten or twenty times the price of oil from SA on the instructions of their Masters the UAssA soon.
In no time our Reserves kaput.
Now China's energy needs can migrate more towards Russia. It is dangerous to do the energy trade with Saudi Arabia performing an acrobatic about turn after all the rhetoric about pricing oil in other currencies. We never know what Saudi Arabia will do in its trade with China, with more pressure exerted by the USA going forward. Perhaps time now for China to think about all the investments in Saudi Arabia and do some rethinking.
ReplyDeleteThat is why I say, BRICS needs to admit membership carefully and not just for the sake of expansion alone. Time is on BRICS side and taking time to evaluate is important. In saying this I am thinking of Turkey's divided loyalty. It is not going to work. It is either NATO or BRICS for Turkey. Then again, we can never discount what kind of pressure will be exerted on Turkey if it goes for BRICS.
Many are not aware that Saudi Arabia did not end the pricing of oil in Petrodollars. It merely did not renew the 50-year agreement with the USA, but the oil trade carries on as per normal and its oil still priced in US$. This clearly indicates that pressure is being applied against MBS. The other clear indication that not all is what it seems when the USA kept its silence over Saudi Arabia's officially not renewing the Petrodollar agreement with the USA. This seems to me rather strange that the USA is willing to bear with such a setback of monumental proportions in silence. We have all been totally blindsided by MBS.
