As Anglo-Saxon wars are failing and going back to basics
is the only way out. Which is why the USA is so intent on luring
manufacturing back to the USA with massive subsidies to boot. This
reality has struck the USA like a bolt of lightning. 'Made in America'
they are starting to proclaim. Not even started yet and already gloating
like the 'mission accomplished' hogwash in Iraq.
It is too
little too late, with raw materials difficult to control or sourced
from, supply chains absent and needing to be built up and skilled
workers needing to be trained. And not to forget the market needed to
make such manufacturing feasible and cheap to compete against others. I
think it is all a fanciful thought.
There are still available
resources to be secured like in Vietnam, parts of Africa and Mongolia,
which the USA is eyeing and salivating. The latter had already been
killed by the Chinese and found unfeasible. Vietnam is rich in rare
earth but needs to set up the mining logistics and processing
facilities, which will be very costly. Which is why the USA is trying to
be chummy with the Vietnamese after tearing the country apart and
committing war crimes against its citizens.

I think Vietnam knows better who is buttering its bread, despite all the chumminess that the USA is pretending to woo it. China is Vietnam's biggest trading partner. China was also Vietnam's supporter during the Indochina War against the French and the Vietnam War against the USA and its allies. China's all out support was not miniscule, despite China's less than rosy economic state itself.
ReplyDeleteAsians in general repay those who help them more than Anglo-Saxon Whites that take such help as a right and turn around to bite the helping hand of those who extended help. During the financial crisis of 2008, China went out of it way to help the USA turn the tide but faced all the animosity afterwards. This coming financial tsunami is not going to be repeated with China again extending a helping hand. Once bitten twice shy I would say.
On the other hand, the USA was supporting the French during the Indochina war against the North Vietnamese and was directly fighting the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. The war crimes the USA committed, and the destruction of the country. cannot just be forgotten and forgiven so easily.
Vietnam is now a partner in BRICS. Vietnam knows that going forward, the USA will erect more hurdles to keep out Vietnamese exports entering the USA, knowing that such exports have Chinese backgrounds. In the light of this, Vietnam knows that the Global South market is its more important target by joining BRICS.
Luring manufacturing back to the USA is one thing. Having a market for the products is another. Make American Great Again is just an empty promise that can never be fulfilled. The horses have bolted and closing the stable doors is an exercise in futility.
ReplyDeleteTrump can rock, rattle and roll to rouse his supporters, but he knows four more years is all he cares about. What he says in campaigning mean little. Didn't he say lots of rubbish during COVID? He suggested drinking horse dewormer, injecting insecticides and lots of sunshine to fight COVID? And not to forget his famous suggestion of nuking a hurricane of all things. A person leading the superpower of the world saying and doing all that is unthinkable.
Give Trump four more years and four more years after that even in perpetuity, if possible, and he will still be chanting 'Make America Great Again'. Just enjoy the circus.
On second thought maybe injecting insecticide into the USA population can make America Great Again. Worth a try when all else fail.
DeleteMore like going back to the stone age and back to inventing the wheel, when others are already experimenting with levitation and time travel.
