The sample count for the Presidential Election just came in. Tharman 70%, Kok Song 16%, Kin Lian 14%. Wow, wow, wow! With this kind of margin, the final result is as good as a Tharman win. Tharman is the likely President for the next 6 years.
Question, what happens to the 30% die hard opposition votes? All the assumptions and past patterns are thrown into disarray. This is a totally new development that is going to change everything in Singapore politics going forward.
Tharman can start celebrating now. Those thinking that the opposition camp would stand a good chance would be in a state of shock, to state it lightly. Unbelieveable!
PE2011, PAP total voters of 70% were divided into TT 35% TCB 35%. 30% taken by independent. Now PAP got 70% and independents shared 30%. Actually, the same results. PAP would be very pleased with the result, sensing the ground is sweet now. Early GE may be called soon.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to President Tharman and Singapore. It would have been better if he was PM, but I am glad he didn't kena send to IMF or that kind of financial organization.
ReplyDeleteXi Jinping will not like that Singapore got an Indian President and Japanese First lady. He probably won't visit Singapore for the next 6 years.

ReplyDeleteHaha That's A Good One!
In front shake hands and talked cordially and then twisted and turned again like snakes.
That's in their genes.
Also remember the Japs Occupation.
Cheers
All the new citizens sure have voted for Tharman . .

ReplyDeleteNot only that.
The young Strawberry brainwashed Sinkies just like the Taiwanese.
Have NOT seen coffins will not shed tears yet.
Answer: The 30% die hard opposition votes were shared between the other two. The assumptions were on target. No mystery there.
ReplyDeleteThe only surprise is that it was so accurate. 30% estimate tallies with almost 30% actual.
Now, don't blame the opposition voters for not delivering on their promise. They delivered the 30%, swee swee, buay chow chwee.
