SINGAPORE: Twelve years after a tsunami hit the eastern coast of Japan and caused a nuclear disaster, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is once again at the centre of international concern.
On Tuesday (Aug 22), Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Japan will start on Thursday the planned discharge of more than 1.2 million tonnes of wastewater - enough to fill more than 500 Olympic-sized swimming pools - from the crippled plant into the Pacific Ocean.
Contrary to the international support Japan received in the immediate aftermath of the March 2011 disaster, the plan has been met with criticism, despite approval by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
China has strongly condemned the plan. In July, China and Hong Kong, Japan’s two largest seafood export markets, announced that it will extend its ban on all aquatic products from 10 prefectures in Japan.
While South Korea was initially vociferous, the government formally endorsed Japan’s plan in July after its own assessment. Still, South Koreans have taken to the streets in protest and started hoarding sea salt.
The biggest question on everyone’s minds is: Is it safe? Rational minds may look to the IAEA safety review for reassurance - but science alone is not enough.... CNA
The selfish and irresponsible Japanese in cahoot with the equally evil Americans, are going to dump millions of tonnes of nuclear contaminated waste water into the Pacific Ocean, regardless of the harm it would cause to marine life and human life. This is like a massacre of the marine life with the consent and approval of the Americans and American controlled IAEA. The radioactive waste, in small amount may not harm human life immediately, but would have immediate consequences to lower life forms especially micro organisms in the ocean. The micro organisms and small marine life are part of the food chain and destroying them, contaminating them, would eventually contaminate all the marine life and the whole food chain, ultimately harming human life all over the world. They would end up in our stomach. It is an assault on the whole ecology system of the oceans, a massacre of marine life forms.
How dangerous and destructive are the nuclear waste can be seen in the followup paragraphs of the same article in CNA reproduced below. The main points to prove their lethality is the dumping over a period of 3 decades. If they are not harmful, why not dumping them at once? Spreading them over 30 years would not be much different as the decay life of nuclear waste goes to thousands of years or more. And they can't be evaporated in the air as it would be even more harmful. The nuclear waste are HARMFUL to life forms and humans! Period.
And the real reason for the dumping is not that it is less harmful, but Japan is running out of storage space to keep them. So they ignore the toxic nature of the waste and the harm to life forms, just to get rid of them from Japanese soil. The evil Americans and Japanese would not be spared from this harm. Every life form and human bean would be harmed, especially the Pacific Islands. Taiwan would not protest as they think they are Japanese and what is good for the Japanese is good for them. Some states that are friendly to the Japanese may also import Japanese food for their own people to consume.
People of the world must not be misled by the lying Japanese and Americans. The dumping must be stopped at all cost. What is wasting a few space in Japan to store the toxic waste than dumping them into the ocean at the risk of destroying marine life and human life?
The whole world must boycott this ruthless and irresponsible act by banning the import of all Japanese food. This is the only way to save the world. Protect the Pacific nations, save the world.
BAN ALL JAPANESE FOOD with immediate effect!
Below is part of the same article in CNA.
'One exception is the tritium isotope, but there is no known technology to separate low concentration of tritium from water as both have similar properties. If there were, Japan would not be dumping it into the sea....
In addition, the wastewater will be released over the next 30 years to avoid any sudden spike in radiation levels. It will also be discharged 1km off the power plant site via an underwater tunnel and radioactive levels will be further diluted in the ocean...
Japan also considered an alternative release method, which is evaporating it into the atmosphere, but that option was deemed to be more pollutive as radioactive substances could settle on territorial lands. Japan will not want to store the wastewater indefinitely.
HUMAN FEARS AND ANXIETIES ABOUT ALL THINGS NUCLEAR
Despite the scientific endorsement, very little is known in the public regarding the effects of radiation. Fears and anxieties persist - it is only human.
The concerns are largely on the environmental impact and degradation of marine ecology, as well as the risks to human health....' CNA
Good morning All
ReplyDeleteThe Japs themselves, their Legislative Members told that Idiot PeeAyam to leave as status quo all the radio active contaminated as they are now in their sealed steel containers and store in some complexes or outlaying areas.
But that damn murderous PM insisited of discharging them claiming a flimisy excuse that no land to store them.
Jusy how many containers that now are been stored and he said no land to store.
Evil genes in these bagialos aka bastards.
Just to add his main reason to dispose these water is that he feared another earth quake will destroy these containers of contaminated radio active waters and their own Japs are in danger.
DeleteSo thrown into the seas and washed their hands and responsibilities.
Its better that the whole world die with them.
The piece of shit U.N. aka United Nonsense should have an Assembmy of All Nations to vote on this as this concerns the whole world.
Aiya. The UN is under the balls of the West and they okay must be go ahead.
The Japs said they are safe them use them for their crops and drinking waters.
Don't waste.
Just the same question that needs repeating. If it is safe, why not just release those contaminated treated waters into its reservoirs? Why arouse so much unease and antagonise so many neighbours by making this irresponsible and controverial decision?
ReplyDeleteOne Japanese minister even said those treated waters are even safe for drinking, so what is the problem with releasing those waters into its own reservoirs. Unless he is lying through his arse hole.
How much difference does it make to dilute the treated contaminated water with sea water in tanks first, and then releasing the diluted water into the ocean? Isn't it just the same as releasing the undiluted contaminated water into the sea and let it be diluted by itself? This is all a smoke and mirrors act to muddy the waters.
Japan knows this is going to cost them dearly, especially with China and Hong Kong being its biggest seafood market. 62% of South Koreans are also against the Jap's decision and will probably be intending to avoid Japanese seafood. As the release is expected to be stretched over many years, the continued need for testing is going to exact a permanent damage to the Japanese seafood export market. It will be gone for good, if any untoward spike in contamination testing should ensue at some point.
As a matter of fact, the release coming just after the tri-lateral meeting on August 18, between the USA, Japan and South Korea at Camp David, does give rise to make me suspiciously sure that this was given the go ahead by Biden, with Yoon taking care of his supporting stance, and stifle opposition in South Korea. This release had been talked about since 2019, but facing objections from neighbouring countries and held back.
As people living around and closer to the region, we are directly having to contend with any consequences, and it matters that we have different perceptions from those experts living far and away from the Pacific Ocean, who are touting the narrative that the effect is minimal. After all, most probably have vested interest to refrain from voicing the damaging stuff. As I always say, money talks and bullshit walks.
For me, Japanese seafood and particularly sushi are not my cup of tea. But I have to remind my children and grandchildren to avoid them as much as possible.
Would any Asean country be coerced by Japan and be stupid enough to buy Japanese marine products to feed its citizens?
ReplyDeleteTo be safe, countries should ban the import of Japanese marine products for at least one year monitor the health of Japanese during this period, whether they remain normal or develop serious illnesses or side effects from the contaminated nuclear waste water.
ReplyDeleteEven if the Japs develop serious illnesses or side effects, I doubt they will connect it to the wastewater. This is to be expected.
ReplyDeleteEven now, the ill effects of Agent Orange on newborns in Vietnam is blamed on other factors and said to be co-incidental. However, USA veterans who served in Vietnam, and who came into contact with Agent Orange, also suffered the same side effects as the Vietnamese, but downplayed by the USA Government and seldom discussed on MSM.
If the connection to Agent Orange is allowed to be proven in the case of those Veterans, the compensation to the Vietnamese would be monumental. Hence, they would never ever admit the connection.
The attitude of the Japs govt now is that: you all die is your own bziness, as long as it's not at my own backyard it's okay, it's so selfish, China govt has already started to ban all Japanese seafood imports coming into their shores China PRC people at least got heart and concern on the harms bring to humanity unlike the so called hypocrite whites people.
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is, as what the Chinese say, what is released into the ocean is going to be irreversible, whatever the consequences. But for countries like the USA and Japan, conscience is never their trait. They just take it as collateral damage, even human lives at stake.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very bad Karma seed planted by the Japs it will backfire to them some day, let's not forget what goes around comes around, generations down the road they will later regret by them it's too late.
ReplyDeleteWould Asean countries blindly import more contaminated Japanese marine products and food to feed their citizens?
ReplyDeleteWould the citizens of Asean protest if their governments are stupid enough and irresponsible enough to do so, like blindly forcing their citizens to be jabbed by fake vaccines during the pandemic, now feeding them with radioactive contaminated seafood?
Giving the excuse that there is no more land to contain the radioactive materials is the Biggest Bullshit the Japanese PM is spouting.
ReplyDeleteHow can there be no more land to contain the radioactive materials?
