“U.S. has sent $2.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s Feb. 24 invasion, with DoD weapons reaching the battlefield within 48 to 72 hours: senior U.S. defense official”
What’s interesting about that is, the U.S. spent 3 billions on funding the Taliban in the 80’s, over the course of an entire decade.
So this was the “longest and most expensive” CIA operation in history, and ended up at $3 billion in 10 years. But the Ukraine has already gotten $3 billion in a single month. Imagine how much they’re going to pump into it by the end of this year? This goes to show what I’ve said before that this is likely now the single costliest program of this sort in history. And that’s only counting the U.S. aid, NATO/EU are pouring in billions more. Anonymous said
The 20 year Afghan War costs the Americans nearly US$3 trillion and is looking like the most expensive war that the Americans had fought. It is more costly than the US$1 trillion Iraq War and US$890 billion Vietnam War. Actually the Iraq War is cheap as the cost had all been paid back by robbing Iraq's treasury and banks and oil. Vietnam War is also expensive as the loser South Vietnamese had nothing to pay back.
The Afghan War is unchallenged as the most costly war as the US was defeated and could not impose painful compensation on the Afghan govt. The saving grace, to recover some losses, is to seize the US$7 billion deposits in American banks. This is the most despicable act of the Americans, robbing a very poor country that they invaded under false charges of being involved in the 911 attack, destroyed their country and now stealing the little money they had.
But then war has been and is still a very profitable business to the Americans especially to the MIC. The above numbers thrown at the Ukrainians are peanuts. The Americans would throw in more, and in double quick time, and very happily to do so. And no, it is not a cost to the Americans. They are expecting the Ukrainian govt to pay back every cent, plus whatever mark ups as the Ukrainians would just have to accept the bill sent to them by the Americans and also by the Europeans. Everyone of them, the Americans and Europeans are happily and furiously sending in all their obsolete and expired weapons to Ukraine, as good as selling to Ukraine and at a price they determined, not to be objected by the Ukrainian govt. And comedian Zelensky is asking for more, he is not paying but the Ukrianians would have to pay.
The Ukraine war is looking to be highly profitable as Russia is not looking to conquer and take over Ukraine. So the Ukrainian govt would still be there and to pay for these so called, 'military aids' sent to them by the Americans and Europeans. The Americans would be laughing all the way to the banks, and so would be the Europeans.
Let's forget about the daft and willing Ukrainians that are willing to die for the Americans to exert their hegemony and to pay for it. Let's see whether there are any stupid govts that would follow the path of the Ukrainians, to start another war for the American Empire, let their country be destroyed, their people killed, and ended up with a mountain of debt from receiving American military aid.
The South Koreans are looking like an eager beaver. Taiwan is also a possible candidate. We shall watch to see who would be the first to jump in.
Ukraine’s Grim Economic Toll From War Confronts World Governments - WSJ
ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON—Top world financial officials gathered in Washington this past week confronted a grim picture of the growing economic costs of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the challenges they face to help pay Ukraine’s short- and long-term bills.
Ukraine needs around $5 billion a month in budgetary support for up to five months and roughly $600 billion for a broader rebuilding effort, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Thursday at a forum hosted by the World Bank during spring meetings held with the International Monetary Fund.
The two international financial institutions and several individual governments have started pledging contributions, but in interviews and public comments, officials acknowledged that much work lies ahead to come up with the funds needed.
“You will now see a big mobilization of the international community ,” said Odile Renaud-Basso, president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in an interview Friday. “ Everyone is thinking about something like a Marshall Plan for Ukraine, like what happened after World War II,” she said.
Officials from multilateral institutions said they hope to provide support for Ukraine’s short-term budgetary needs with grants from countries, rather than loans that require repayments, given the current dysfunction of its economy.
Will Singapore government contribute or be asked (arm-twisted) to contribute (ahead of GST hike) ?
Talk in the USA is now about time to reduce tariffs on Chinese goods. No, China is not asking for it. It is the USA wanting it, because inflation is getting out of hand. What has the high tariffs done to China? Nothing much as trade figures show, but to the USA, it's citizens are paying for expensive goods due to the high tariffs and that is one factor causing the escalating inflation. Trade wars are easy to win in theory, right?
ReplyDeleteThe USA produces nothing that can be a substitute to stop it's citizens from buying Chinese goods, either in price or variety. The USA must first set up it's manufacturing base for producing such goods, not try to prevent Chinese goods from competing in the country without any way to make such goods available for it's citizens themselves. Instead they are putting the cart before the horse or as what the Chinese say - building toilets only when you have a stomach ache and wants to poo.
Let's have Trump do a second term. He may be able to make America great again a second time.
If Ukraine, according to MSM, is doing so well in the war against Russia, why is the West using the UN to tell Russia to end the war? That does not sound logical when you are on the winning side. There is obviously a serious problem of weapons shortage on the Ukrainian side, with Zelensky pleading for more weapons but failing to get them. So, the war must stop.
ReplyDeleteOne question. Why would Russia listen to the UN now when the UN blatantly brushed aside it's call for a thorough investigation over the Bucha fiasco? Co-operation has to be a two way traffic, not a unilateral dictate.
Just like the USA using threats against others right before sitting down to talk, how can they expect the other party to co-operate? The general impression is that the USA is not talking or negotiating with others, but dictating terms instead and it cannot always have it's way.
By the way, did Mexico paid for the half completed wall? Also another Trump failure, but all blamed on Biden. So nice to see them trading blame against each other. It think Nancy Pelosi is enjoying herself to see such sport.
ReplyDeleteSeems like US is finally waking up that it's losing its hegemony power:
ReplyDelete'“Most people in Washington still cannot accept the fact that Xi has built with Putin’s Russia a functional alliance that is operationally more significant than most of the U.S. treaty alliances.”
The budding alliance between Xi and Putin was solidified on Feb. 4, with the announcement of a “no-limits” partnership, which China later reaffirmed amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Allison said that the greatest challenge would now be to manage the world’s fiercest rivalry between the Chinese regime and the United States without a catastrophic war. It was a point that U.S. military leadership has itself warned of, now that the United States must strategically consider the combined nuclear power of both China and Russia in the event of military hostilities.'

Yeah, the hyenas are closing in on the rebuilding of Ukraine. Help is one thing. What kind of strings are attached to the loans from the World Bank and IMF?
ReplyDeleteThey talk as if the Ukrainians have already won the war. Even Bojo is doubtful when he said there is a possibility that Russia will win. The West is counting their chickens before they are hatched. If Russia wins, then what?
Trade wars are easy to win in theory, right?
ReplyDeleteNo, this is not a theory. This is what came out from a sick mind.
The clown Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has a very strong sense of entitlement - constantly demanding other countries should help his country and scolding other countries for not helping.
ReplyDeleteOnly countries of blond hair blue-eyed people get Marshall Plan-type of aid from West-dominated IMF and World Bank, but none for war-devastated third-world countries like Syria, Afghanistan . .
I don't understand. How did Ukraine start the war? I thought it is Russia invaded Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteThe answers can easily be googled. But you can continue to pretend to be thick.
ReplyDeleteNo one is going to teach those with eyes but refused to see.
Every war, if you dig behind it, is always started by one country. In fact no need to google, you can make a guess and it will be correct.
ReplyDeleteDon't talk cock here and pretend like you know everything. Google got so many sites. Who know which site is correct? If you don't know the answer, just say so. Other people can also explain.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to teach me. Are you a teacher or the eyedoctor.
Just note their treatment to India and China with similar stand on Russia. A succession of US and western leaders has been visiting India politely persuading India to toe the line while to China, its all warnings, orders and threats with the latest from Yellen, the US treasury secrerary.
ReplyDeleteAustralian sinophobe PM Morrision scolds China for continuing to trade with Rusdia while with India, he respects their position and says it 'understandable"
That Australian poodle is just following orders to bark. India is a member of the QUAD and is understandable? So, without a doubt a double standard approach. An unprincipled piece of warp diplomacy.
