Singapore Has Made Russia Its Number One Enemy

Singapore spells out the details of its arbitrary sanctions against Russia and the Russian people as follows:

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said Singapore will impose sanctions on Russia “in concert with other like-minded countries (meaning arm-twisted by USA and EU)”, and cited the “unprecedented gravity” of the Russian invasion.

“While we continue to value good relations with Russia and the Russian people, we cannot accept the Russian government’s violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of another sovereign state,” said the ministry. (This is double-talk with fork tongue just like the Whitemen)

“For a small state like Singapore, this is not a theoretical principle, but a dangerous precedent. This is why Singapore has strongly condemned Russia’s unprovoked (Russia has been provoked and threatened for past 7 long years, you see the tree and miss the wood) attack on Ukraine.”

The restrictions are aimed at constraining Russia’s capacity to conduct war against Ukraine and undermine its sovereignty.

It detailed the sanctions and measures Singapore will take in response to the Ukraine invasion.

EXPORT SANCTIONS

The Singapore Strategic Goods Control System regulates the transfer - export, transit, and transhipment - of strategic goods which are generally military weapons or their parts as well as high technology goods that could be used for both commercial and military purposes.

Items subject to strategic goods control are listed in the Strategic Goods (Control) Order (SGCO) 2021.

In order to “constrain Russia’s capacity to conduct war in Ukraine and cyber aggression”, all permit operations to Russia involving all items on the list of military goods under the SGCO will be rejected.

All category codes under Category 3 (Electronics), Category 4 (Computers) and Category 5 (Telecommunications) and Information Security on the List of Dual-Use Goods under the SGCO will also be rejected.

FINANCIAL CONTROLS

Singapore will impose financial measures targeted at Russian banks, entities and activities in Russia, as well as fundraising activities for the Russian government.

Digital payment token service providers are specifically prohibited from facilitating transactions that could help to circumvent these financial measures.

Financial institutions in Singapore will be prohibited from entering into transactions or establishing business relationships with four Russian banks: VTB Bank Public Joint Stock Company, The Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs Vnesheconombank, Promsvyazbank Public Joint Stock Company and Bank Rossiya.

Where there are existing business relationships, financial institutions must freeze any assets and funds of these four banks.

Financial institutions in Singapore will also be barred from providing financing or financial services relating to the export from Singapore or any other jurisdiction of goods subject to Singapore’s export controls on Russia.

These goods comprise all items on the Military Goods List and specified categories in the Dual-Use Goods List in the SGCO.

Financial services in relation to designated Russian non-bank entities that are involved in such activities will also be prohibited by Singapore.

Where there are existing business relationships, financial institutions must freeze any assets and funds of these designated entities. Details on the designation of non-bank entities will be provided subsequently.

Financial institutions in Singapore cannot enter into transactions, arrangements or provide financial services that facilitate fundraising by: The Russian government; the Central Bank of the Russian Federation; any entity owned or controlled by them or acting on their direction or behalf.Singapore spells out the details of its arbitrary sanctions against Russia and the Russian people as follows:

The prohibitions apply to buying and selling new securities, providing financial services that facilitate new fundraising, and making or participating in the making of any new loan to the entities owned or controlled by the Russian government and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

The Singapore Government and Monetary Authority of Singapore will also cease investing in newly issued securities of the above entities.

The ministry added that financial institutions in Singapore will be prohibited from entering into transactions or providing financial services in the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, in the sectors of: Transport; telecommunications; energy; and prospecting, exploration and production of oil, gas and mineral resources.

They also cannot enter into or facilitate any transactions involving cryptocurrencies, to circumvent any of the prohibitions.

The prohibited cryptocurrency transactions cover all transactions that involve cryptocurrencies and extend to the payment and settlement of transactions that relate to digital assets, such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), said MFA.

These measures apply to all financial institutions in Singapore, including banks, finance companies, insurers, capital markets intermediaries, securities exchanges and payment service providers.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore will issue directions to all financial institutions, setting out the details of the measures.

Singapore is a consistent and staunch supporter of international law and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. Not true. What about the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Yemen by USA and EU? They are also independent states. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

  1. If FAM Vivian really wishes to uphold the "sovereignty and territorial integrity of another sovereign state", then why is Singapore still training NS in Taiwan of which China had objected to? Are we not ignoring China's sovereignty in this instance?

  3. Seems like Russia is compiling a list of countries deemed to be 'unfriendly'.

Countersanctions would be coming out for this list of 'unfriendly' countries.

If true, the list should be coming out soon.

Let's hope Singapore is not on that list...

  4. Do you believe Russia cares three hoots what Singapore is doing? China, India, Iran and Pakistan are it's friends among others and Russia will not collapse. Inconvenienced, yes, and so does those that are doing the perpetrating.

Keep up the hubris and see what happens.

  5. They behaved like gangsters, grabbing Russian money and assets like freebies. Every cent they take they would have to pay back plus compensation for the disruption, grief and anxiety they caused.

Wait for payback time, silly cunts. Russia is not going away. The dying empire and bankrupt European countries would get poorer and poorer by the day.

The time has changed. The sun will rise, the sun will set. There is no everlasting empire or everlasting glory.

  6. Like 5G, when the Russians and Chinese perfected their technology amid the difficulties, the pendulum will swing the other way in time. Global communication using satellites is not the prerogative of only the Anglo Saxon Whites. Russia and China will come out with an alternative to SWIFT and this will be their priority. You can bet on it.

China today is not concentrating mindlessly on economic growth alone. They are pouring resources into technology, chip research and manufacturing and not the least into military hardware. The forecast of China's GDP growth at 5.5% sounded like a doomsday scenario for China according to the MSM, but you have to look at the big picture. How many countries can still manage 5.5% GDP growth, translated it still means adding something like US$850 billion to it's GDP for 2022?

When countries are at the receiving end of punishment being meted out by others, their resolve will be heightened. Just look at North Korea. It would have collapsed long ago, going by the narratives fabricated by the West. Did it?

  7. When backsides are itchy, the last thing to do is getting scratched by a Russian Bear. Massive bleeding and death will follow and what is left is food for the bear.

Sure, Uncle Sam is behind and telling you to go forward towards the bear to be scratched. But Uncles Sam is liable to run first when the bear approaches. Keep that in mind as we have seen it before.

It can get skinned in many ways and definitely put to sleep with two fingers. The Louder it pretends to roar, the More irritating it is to others. Thus skinning it becomes necessary.

  10. Singapore, emboldened by the evil US Empire, has become a mini Mafia robbing, grabbing, stealing and cheating Russia and Russian peoples' assets with impunity.

Russia must teach this little upstart spoilt brat thow to behave in front of adults.

LKY did not teach him enough. A spoilt continues to be a spoilt brat in the last 20 years.

  11. Putin has long enough memories. Russia has tolerated the expansion of NATO against promises to the contrary. After eight long years of tolerating, Putin said enough is enough. The Russian bear has awakened. It is pushback time.

The narrative is Russia is against NATO, but look at the expansion of NATO, now right into Russia's backyard. When Russian missiles were hosted by Cuba, the USA went crazy. What difference does it make if the West stationed missiles all over NATO, targeted at Russia. They claimed those are not targeted at Russia, then at which other country?

The West already broke the agreements with Russia over non expansion of NATO, so would Russia even want to believe the missiles were all there for exhibition? You cannot fool people once and expect them to believe you again.

Bus and train fares may have to go up some more.

Taxi fares may yet go up again.

Price of food and essential services will also go up.

No Russian tourists and businessmen will come to Singapore for the next few years.

All assets from GIC, Temasek Holdings, Government-linked Companies, Singapore banks, Singapore private enterprises and personal investments will be frozen and or confiscated.

All loans taken by the Russian government, banks and private enterprises from Singapore will be null and void, ultra vires.

  16. As Singapore has indirectly declared war on Russia and has become a fierce enemy of Russia, Russian ships can intercept any Singapore ship anywhere in the world.

Russia can also shoot down any
    Singapore aircraft in international airspace.

Russia reserves the right to retaliate in any way it deems fit, according to its own arbitrary decisions.

    There is no negotiations.

  17. Since Singapore aims to reduce Russian abilities to continue the war in Ukraine, Russia should fire a few long-range hypersonic missiles into the military targets in Singapore and destroy Singapore's ability to make war with Malaysia and Indonesia.

Also, Russia should destroy Singapore's military bases in certain countries - Taiwan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Australia and USA.

Why does a small fart tiny piece of rock has so many military bases? Unless, it has the intention to launch its aggression against neighbouring countries.

It's time some big brother put this menacing wild adventurist in its rightful place.

  18. This article lays out all that facts that substantiate Singapore as a stooge of the Evil US Empire.

    FACT SHEET

    BUREAU OF POLITICAL-MILITARY AFFAIRS

    APRIL 20, 2021

Singapore is one of the United States’ strongest bilateral partners in Southeast Asia and plays an indispensable role in supporting the region’s security and economic framework. The United States cooperates with Singapore on the full range of security issues, to include border security, maritime security, military preparedness, counter proliferation, cybersecurity, and counterterrorism.

The access, basing, and overflight privileges granted by Singapore advance U.S. government and partner efforts to bolster a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. Singapore was the first Southeast Asian country to join the Global Coalition, and the Singapore Armed Forces have deployed imagery analysis teams, KC-135 aircraft refueling tankers, and medical teams to the D-ISIS campaign. Singapore has also played a critical role in our counterpiracy efforts, including serving as the Commander of the Gulf of Aden counterpiracy Combined Task Force-151 in 2018.

The United States has $8.5 billion in active government-to-government sales cases with Singapore under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) system. FMS sales notified to Congress are listed here, and recent and significant prior sales include: F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) aircraft, BU-10 Paveway II Laser Guided Bomb (LGB) units, GBU-12 Paveway II LGB units, FMU-152 or FMU-139D/B fuzes, F-16 Block 52 upgrades, F-16 pilot training and logistics support, F-15SG pilot training, AH64-D Apache Helicopters, Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS), AN/TPQ-53 Counter fire Acquisition Radar Systems, XM395 Accelerated Precision Mortar Initiative (APMI) Rounds, Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) Kits, and HARPOON, AMRAAM and Sidewinder missiles.

Since 2016, the United States has also authorized the permanent export of over $37.6 billion in defense articles to Singapore via Direct Commercial Sales (DCS). The top categories of DCS to Singapore include: aircraft parts and components, gas turbine engines, and military electronics.

More than 1,000 Singaporean military personnel participate in training, exercises, and Professional Military Education in the United States in places like Luke Air Force Base (AFB), Arizona, Arizona National Guard Silverbell Heliport, and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, where Singaporean F-16, AH64-D, and F-15SG pilots train alongside their U.S. counterparts. Singapore has operated advanced fighter jet detachments in the continental United States for the past 27 years.

The U.S. Navy maintains a logistical command unit, Logistics Group Western Pacific, in Singapore and conducts ongoing rotational deployments of Littoral Combat Ships and P-8 Poseidon aircraft. These deployments have facilitated patrols in the South China Sea, participation in multilateral naval exercises, and responses to natural disasters.

The United States and Singapore have the following agreements: Agreement relating to the establishment of a United States Air Force management training assistance team in Singapore (1977), Agreement Regarding the Exchange of Military Personnel of 2009, and the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreements (ACSA) of 2011.

In the past two years, Singapore has reinforced and deepened its defense ties with the United States, recently signing two substantial agreements – the 2019 renewal of the 1990 Memorandum of Understanding Regarding United States Use of Facilities in Singapore (1990 MOU) and the Memorandum of Understanding Concerning the Republic of Singapore Air Force Training Detachment at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam (Guam MOU).

    Continues...

  19. Continued:

Since 1988, Singapore Police Force (SPF) United Nations Peacekeeping Force (UNPKF) has been dedicated and committed to the call of service in contributing to world peace. In 1997, Singapore became the 7th country to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on UN Standby Arrangements, ensuring their commitments to the UN Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System by placing planning officers, military observers, medical personnel, and police officers on standby to support UN peacekeeping missions.

Singapore and the United States participate in 12 military forums focused on science and technology cooperation. Department of Defense research agencies with a permanent presence at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore include the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the Office of Naval Research Global, the Navy Medical Research Center-Asia, and the Army International Technology Center-Pacific. All work with Singaporean counterparts on issues of shared military relevance.

Singapore participates in the Exercise Pacific Griffin, a biannual, bilateral naval operation designed to enhance capabilities in a broad spectrum of naval operations, including maritime security skills. The yearly Tiger Balm exercise between the Singapore Army and the U.S. Army is our oldest bilateral training opportunity, dating back to 1980. 2019 marked the 28th anniversary of the first Valiant Mark exercise between the U.S. Marine Corps and the Singapore Army. In addition, the Republic of Singapore and U.S. Pacific Air Forces have been conducting Exercise Commando Sling since 1990. Singapore is the only Pacific country to hold biannual unilateral training exercises in the United States (Exercise Forging Sabre). The U.S. also supports Singapore hosted multilateral fusion centers (Counter-Terrorism Information Facility, Information Fusion Center, and the Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Center) to collaborate in areas of shared interest.

There you are, in a nutshell, the Evil US Empire is not afraid to tell the world that Singapore is one of its biggest puppetry stooge in the world.

The phrase "51st state" can be used in a positive sense, meaning that a region or territory is so aligned, supportive, and conducive with the United States, that it is like a U.S. state. It can also be used in a pejorative sense, meaning an area or region is perceived to be under excessive American cultural or military influence or control. - Wikipedia

"I just talked to the president (of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky - TASS). Everybody is not feeling so well," Klitschko said.

The mayor admitted that the capital’s authorities were not in full control of volunteer battalions of territorial defense, who had been provided with weapons. "To be honest, we don’t have 100% control," said Klitschko. "We built this territorial defense in a short amount of time — but these are patriotic people."
