* Do not be arrogant that you have a better degree than the “fake degree” of the foreigner.
* The “good degree” is of no use, if it cannot be reflected in job performance. Many graduates could not apply what they learn in the university in the real work environment. The “good degree” is no better than the “fake degree”.
* Good performance in a job depends on attitude, communication, common sense and other non-academic skills. The foreigner with a “fake degree” may have these skills that make them more suitable for the job than a local with a “good degree”.
The above is from Tan Kin Lian, a presidential candidate.
And this is from theindependent.
'SINGAPORE — A recent question about the job market today on a Reddit page sparked a lively discussion after a user on the platform wondered about a friend who had not yet found a full-time job two years after graduating. “Is it normal to be unemployed for 2 years?” asked Reddit user Speculoos-IceCream on Sunday night (Jan 1).
“Just curious since I am friends this person (26M) who, since graduating from university with a double degree in finance and accounting, has yet to find a full time job. Is it normal for a university graduate to be jobless for 2 years and going? What’s the rate of employment for local graduates?”'
What more do Singaporeans need to know about the value of their degrees? It is worthless, no need to spend so much money and time sweating in top universities like NUS and NTU to get a good degree. Go to the university of hard knocks to learn how to survive, how to act in a way that the bosses want and appreciate, how to look good in the way you work. This is the way to get a good job and the way to success. But if a degree is a must, go and get a degree from India. Indian degrees are in demand in Singapore. Look at the foreign talents, many of them have Indian degrees. Many CEOs and top management staff got their degrees from India. It is proven, Indian degrees are the best.
Ministers have said so and now Tan Kin Lian also said so. This is the new wisdom in Singapore, the first world city state heading to third world when the thinking of third world fakes and conmen has taken over as the wisdom of the day. And if this is true, then many of the foreigners working in good jobs in Singapore are really fakes, with no degrees but know how to look good and can work without the professional training that a degree comes with. This is likely not true. They must have good degrees or know how to do the jobs well.
It is time to close down our top universities. No need expensive universities and high quality education. Just teach the students to be street smart will do the trick, convince the bosses that they can do the job will do. If foreigners, the task is simpler. Just convince the 'foreigner' interviewers that they are as good as them, also foreign talents.
Is Singapore progressing and moving quickly to join the ranks of the third world with third world wisdom and mentality?
What do you think?
Some comments to Tan Kin Lian's article.
$G has NO checks against fake degrees or skills. NONE. Employers are now FT so they will try to beat the system. Just ask Ramesh of JP Morgan and his crony employers.
These employers will win because MOM helps them by having no checks on their side. Checking takes time and money. In Australia it takes months to vet such documents. In $G it is a matter of days.
Even after that, their so-called degrees are as good as fake. They cut, paste, copy and bluff to get the job done and then run off to better jobs or get rid of any local with their own people.
The whole island is full of fake employees. Starting from Team Despot.
TKL is mesmerized by the Hunan girl at the bakery, smiling and making him happy… so he thinks every FT is better at work than local.
I had worked with a MNC which employs more than 50% FTs from:
1. India
2. China
3. Philippines
4. Rest of the world
I did one month stint there, this was what I found out:
1. Management all FTs, they hired their friends into the company.
2. One PRC Senior Manager paid $7000 a month came into office at 11am and leaves by 3pm (secretly as no one really checked)
3. Pinoys always chatting and chatting like birds in the office
4. Indians are lazy, hiding and hiding from work.
Yes, I found a few FTs really hardworking, one from PRC and one Indian, they worked very hard. But the 98% are all mediocre and lazy.
The FT Indian colleague told me the earlier one whom I replaced was from Singapore, very prompt and fast – professional, soon he was tired of the bs from third world…. found better job and left. This Indian colleague was honest, although he was FT, he knew how Singaporeans work and he thinks most of us are more efficient but just that Singaporeans are too workaholic and seldom chit chat to make friends in office.
Uncle Tan, your stupidity has no cure, you really think Singaporeans inferior to these third world FTs? Why not you conduct surveys? Why not you look at your own sons and daughters? Are they as inferior as you imagine?
I worked there just one month, I saw the dismay and lousy productivity of these so called third world talent….. They were so impressed with my work performance that my boss actually asked to increase my pay by 50% if I chose not to resign….. I still insisted to leave because I know the department is going to get shut down…. No one is working there except me….. Even I stay and get 50% pay rise, the department will still sink!!! I was right, few weeks after I left, the department was shut down. My boss already knew it was coming, he got a job before the hammer came down.
This is the same story my dad worked for fortune 50 company, same thing… all these FTs from third world, particularly India and PRC are less skilled and more political and lazy…. all the productivity dropped. Thee best record was held by Singaporean and with 90% Singapore core, which was my dad. They kept asking my dad to go back to lead the team, my dad is more than 70, Singaporean and hold the best record for that fortune 50 from 1980s till now, no FT in Singapore or the world beat him.
TKL – Singaporeans are harder striving and hardworking than these inferior FTs imported by PAP. Just that we are too honest and straight and timid to be bullied. We are not as bold and cunning like these inferior imports.
There are some black sheep amongst locals but majority are hardworking and efficient. If you want to complain about Singaporeans lazy, I suggest you survey your sons and daughters and go interview those working in MNCs etc and hear them yourself.
Dear Mr. Tan:
I am sure you would not mind being treated by a foreign doctor with a fake degree rather than one from NUS because said doctor smiles wider and reassures you in words that you want to hear and comes by your bedside day and night to check on you. In between visits to you he will be diligently googling on your condition to bring you the latest medical advances related to your condition. You will most definitely get what you want and what you deserve.
University education is necessary for success.
ReplyDeleteSinkies children, poor souls spent nearly a quarter of their chiidhood life without knowing and losing their funs and laughters as children frolic only in two months of school holidays and from aged even two or three been thrown into the caludron of pursuing a Uni degrees of one or two.
ReplyDeleteFrom aged two or three into child care and kindergarten without really having parental's real touchs and care into some strangers authoritarian stares and sometimes hidden punishments.
Some NOT so well off and have to have double incomes had no choice but to engage a helper to look after them and most are more attached to their "aunties helpers" than their own mothers and fathers.
Spent from aged two in child care and then proceed to kindergarten and then aged six to Pri or Elementary Schools.
Then comes an gruelling Pri Sick, oops Six PSLE to their Secondary Schools where some are deemed NOT so bright to what's another year of "N" b4 "O" or Ordinary Level.
If possible cannot stop at being "Ordinary" or "All" Level for us in the 60s as called Senior Cambridge graduates. Ok ok for some went for also called Snr Cambridge NOT Woodbridge HSC or Higher School Cert at levels ten and eleven at that time and out as Admin Execs for most and NOT as Assts for "O" Levels Ones.
Wow, we are just held Senior Cambridge Certs NOT degrees and in our time held even Managerial or even Directorships when they became entrpreuners.
Back to now Sinkies kids. From then if possible proceed to JCs or Polys. No more HSC or Lembaga Nights "O" levels of part time HSCs.
After Polys ot JCs into the Army, Navy or Air Port, oops AirForce.
Not Pilots but just supports.
Or Matas matas in air cond cars and then waiting for some crazy samurai nutports waving their blunt rusty swords and then in stupor or drunken state fall down and then rushed to cuff him with the help of outsiders who actually disarmed him first.
Or in CD aka Civil Defence where they themselves died being dunked in a training well by own collagues with nothing much to do and being bored does such crazy antics.
Also being trained as Fires Fighters and being donned in their fires fighting suites also died fighting the fires.
Wah piang, what's sorts of training they received?
Aiya, long stories of the Army. More cases of their half past sick, oops Six training and safety.
Also one died being dunked in Kranji Detention Barracks pond by a.S/Sgt Regular MP.
How many years already all together, lost count? Some even had moustaches on their below their noses.
Aiyo, not really earned a cent yet in real economic world. Unless those real unfortunate ones that have to work part time for themselves and help their families.
Then after their stint in the NS go to Unis to have a Bachelor or Spinister one first and if possible Honours or even PHDs aka Please Heads Deficient or Depressed.
No wonder nowadays so many Singles as Bujang Bapoks.
Then armed with all these degrees or papers they are cajoled to be Master Chefs and Hawkers by the Papies.
Also PH service par hong chias taxis svs.
Also Servile economy of past sixty odds years of being housing and insurance agents where these are positions normally held by those whose countries or states in Matland with no real economic activity.
Also Finanicial Services that others will overtake MOT.
Also most if NOT All these white collared jobs been taken over by locusts of other countries.
So Sinkies spent one third of their lifes slogging this way and ended up doing all these menial and sunset industries jobs.
Food food only food in hawkers and fast food restaurants and centres.
What to do have no visionary Ministers of Calibres who just simply applied their on auto pilot buttons to collect their Ministerial salaries of millions.
Our time in the 60s, had Ministers in Education, Manpower and National Development or Finance in collobration as think tanks of how to jell the masses of young POP and channelled or cajoled them to venture into studies of real economic development of engineering, technical and production dipolmas or degrees.

At that time we even had Mr Sim Wong Hoo Nghee Ann Poly Grad as Inventor of Creative.
DeleteNowadays also we had Great Creative Inventors as young as teens in Scams Creatives.
Also as young as 13 and 15 rape cases abundant and being in Scams circles of scammings.
Unis Polys Undergrads peeping at women students in their campuses
Real Undergrads or Under wears?
Nowadays young parents knew how to produce children but no know how to teach and disclipine them.
Sick society.

ReplyDeleteMany as even just technicans, production engineers had own cars, landed and condo units.
Just like CHINA did to uplift their eighty millions into employments and poverty.
That time had the EDB to attract real industrial industries into Singapore and had employments for hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans.
Today's Singaporeans:
Now spend a sum of their hard earned parents monies with diplomas and degrees and be Hawkers, Master Chefs and PH drivers and jig jig part time, full time and no time delivery men and women.
Living in 2 roomed 35 and 45 sqmetres pigeon holes. Riding bicycles instead of cars.
From Landed, Executive, 5 Roomed to 2 roomed units at 100 over K
Now the Education Minister talked about the new policy of life long Education when they should have learnt from their precedessors of what's they had done in the past of having down to earth investments of industries etc for gainful employments of huhdreds of thousands of Singaporeans.
Reversed scenario as compared to China and Sinkies Land.
Had headstarts but on Auto Pilot that all is well just to depend on the ongoing sunset industries.
LKY once said: Will Singapore survive the next fifty 50 years?
Don't think so.
Today's Singaporeans:
ReplyDeleteNow spend a sum of their hard earned parents monies with diplomas and degrees and be Hawkers, Master Chefs and PH drivers and jig jig part time, full time and no time delivery men and women.
These types, no need life long education. Politicians earning millions also no need life long education.
