Good sporting talents for Singapore to pick and choose

From Olympic glory to fleeing prostitution, these youths were realising their dreams. Now all hope may be lost.

They were poor but on track to beat the odds. Then the COVID-19 pandemic struck. The programme Insight meets young Indians whose once-promising futures, like graduating from a top university, are slipping out of reach.

Above are the headlines in CNA.  It is good that it is being reported in CNA. Our very busy MPs now would have a chance to notice them and can turn talent scouts, go to India and recruit these talents to bring medals and glory to medal hungry Singapore.  We can bring a few thousands of them here, pay them, feed them, house them, train them and reward them with our lavish medal and money reward schemes and make them rich...and make Singapore proud.

The whole of India would wake up and crawl to talent bankrupt Singapore. And our MPs would have something to boot about, that they were the ones that spotted these talents and brought them here and supported them using not their money but taxpayers money.

And the whole of Singapore would have a lot to cheer about in the next Olympic Games. This is like killing many birds with one stone. Do charity and philanthropy work, providing jobs to the unemployed in India and winning medals for Singapore. And we can increase our population to 10m and the gene pool of talents.  Good genes to multiply. And we also have plenty of money to throw. Our reserves so big. Money is no problem.

Maybe Singapore can win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing this.

What do you think, money well spent?

PS.  India has 1.3b people. Go there can simply pick 10m to replace all the daft in Singapore and we would have a new Singapore to be the best in the first world.

I am sure he will be delighted to accept the position. Paid very high to only give a booster speech (written by his personal private secretary) once a while. Such easy job, who don't want?

  3. SINGAPORE — A recall has been issued for ready-to-eat raw Pacific oysters harvested from Coffin Bay, Australia, due to contamination, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on Wednesday (Nov 24).

The oysters, which were harvested from Coffin Bay from Sept 4 to Nov 16, were recalled due to "vibrio parahaemolyticus contamination", SFA said.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a species of bacterium normally present in raw seafood such as crustaceans and molluscan shellfish, due to natural contamination from the aquatic environment in the ocean.

"Consumption of raw seafood with high levels of this bacteria can cause foodborne illnesses including fever, abdominal cramps and severe diarrhoea," SFA spokesman said.

If you have eaten those oysters from Australia's Coffin Bay, you had better go see a doctor immediately.

The name Coffin Bay suggests that there must be numerous dead bodies in the Bay, causing the contaminations. Does it not provide a warning bell?

  4. If Singapore can be brought under the control of India via demographic expansion, then the Modi's BJP Party can control the whole stretch of the Malacca Straits as they control the Andaman Islands near the North of the Straits and Singapore at the South, enabling them to block the maritime supply routes of China in wartime.

  5. Then India will be at war with Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and North and South Korea. China will provide arms to Indonesia and Malaysia, and standby and watch.

On the other hand, China can strangle India's economy by not sending Chinese goods to India or attack India through Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Myanmar.

If you don't believe, just listen to our imbeciles and what they are doing to recruit more and more Indians to take over high paying jobs in Singapore and how they filled up our Chennai Business Park and Mumbai Financial Centre, the proof of their talents.

Alternatively, just build a few big corporations and hired Indians to run. They will turn them into big and successful profit making companies like all the big American companies and our DBS.

  8. Bi-lateral Trade Between And China Is Set To Increase

India’s trade with China is set to cross the US$100 billion mark for the first time in 2021, with shipments hitting US$90 billion after three quarters, an almost 30% jump from pre-pandemic levels.

Data from China’s General Administration of Customs (GAC) showed two-way trade jumped 49% in the first nine months of 2021, to US$90.37 billion. India’s imports from China surged 51.7% to $68.4 billion, while India’s exports rose 42.5% to $21.9 billion.

The two-way trade has been substantially higher than pre-pandemic levels, with bilateral trade up 29.7% compared to the same period in the previous year, with India’s imports up 21.5% and exports to China up 64.5%.

India’s biggest exports to China are iron ore, cotton, and other raw material-based commodities.

India imports mechanical and electrical machinery in large quantities, while imports of medical supplies have soared in the past two years.

Chinese trade officials attributed China’s overall trade performance to the country’s economic recovery as well as stronger global demand.

What is the USA doing in the South China Sea and Black Sea? Thousands of miles away and creating trouble for Russia and China is not using military pressure?

What are the sanctions imposed by the USA against countries that do not tow the line or agree with for? Forcing countries to comply with their wishes is not exerting economic pressure?

Alternate truth has been taken to a whole new level! And he just blinks when confronted with the facts.

  12. Sri Lanka Pushed Back Unwelcomed Intrusive Indian Influence

Sri Lanka will tap a Chinese company for a port project in Colombo, its largest city, that had been awarded to Japan and India before the partnership was scrapped this year.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's cabinet on Tuesday agreed to have state-run China Harbour Engineering develop the Eastern Container Terminal while stipulating that local authorities would handle all operations. It cited recommendations by a cabinet-appointed committee as the basis for the decision.

Sri Lanka had signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan and India in May 2019, under previous President Maithripala Sirisena, to jointly develop the Colombo terminal. The operating company would be 51% owned by the Sri Lankan government, with the rest held by Japan and India.

That changed this past February, when the cabinet decided that the operating company would be wholly owned by Sri Lanka, pushing Japan and India out of the project. The Japanese government called the unilateral move "regrettable."

Rajapaksa, who took office in November 2019, has said he wants to be "neutral" in Sri Lanka's relations with India and China.

Beijing has invested heavily in projects on the strategically positioned island under its Belt and Road infrastructure initiative, benefitting hugely the Sri Lankan economy.

If I am from Sri Lanka, I would never put projects in the hands of India. Those projects will undoubtedly face delays or subject to renegotiations to suit the Indians, The Sri Lankans are not unaware of the speed of China construction all over the world. The testimony is there.

Even in India, Japan faced problems with renegotiated construction issues with the High Speed Rail system that has taken a long time to resolve. China was fortunate that the Japs took over and were awarded the HSR contract. It was a blessing in disguise.

Whether doing projects in India, or the Indians doing your project is a no go. Iran already did the same thing to India a year or two ago and awarded a huge Chabahar Port project to China, instead of India as initially expected.

  14. Sweden's first ever female prime minister has resigned just hours after she was appointed.

Magdalena Andersson, was announced as leader on Wednesday but resigned after her coalition partner quit the government and her budget failed to pass.

Instead, parliament voted for a budget drawn-up by the opposition which includes the anti-immigrant far right.

"I have told the speaker that I wish to resign," Ms Andersson told reporters.

Her coalition partner, the Greens Party said it could not accept a budget "drafted for the first time with the far-right".

Ms Andersson said that she hoped to try to become prime minister again as a single party government leader.

"There is a constitutional practice that a coalition government should resign when one party quits," the Social Democrat said on Wednesday. "I don't want to lead a government whose legitimacy will be questioned.

The speaker of parliament said he would contact party leaders on the next move.

Ms Andersson was elected as prime minister earlier on Wednesday because under Swedish law, she only needed a majority of MPs not to vote against her.

Nepalese youths carry 35kg baskets of sand during training in 2008 to join the British army or Singapore Police (Photo: EPA / Narendra Shrestha)
The MOD told Declassified UK that the amount of money it receives from the deal has more than doubled since 2017 – totalling £821,439 over the last three years.

This increase was due to a rise in the number of Gurkhas recruited for Singapore, coupled with inflation. An MOD official explained: “Singapore police pay a proportion of the costs of recruiting based on the numbers that they take and any costs incurred that are wholly attributable to GCSPF.”

After the Gurkhas retire and return to Nepal, Singapore pays their pensions via the British army.

When would this colonial vestige be phased out? Why is Singapore relying on foreign mercenaries in its police force? No trust in daft and no talent Singaporeans?

  22. Strengthening The China-Russia Strategic Alliance Against Western Proliferation Of Aggression Around The World

Weeks after sailing warships around Japan’s main island, the Chinese and Russian militaries have sent bomber flights into Japanese and South Korean air defence zones, forcing Seoul to scramble its fighter jets in response.

In Tokyo on Tuesday, Japan’s Defence Minister Kishi Nobuo met reporters to express “grave concern” over the joint patrols, which took place last week, saying Beijing and Moscow’s moves clearly indicate that the “security situation surrounding Japan is growing more severe”.

As he spoke, his Chinese and Russian counterparts were holding virtual talks, where they lauded the air and naval drills as “major events” and inked a new pact to further deepen defence ties.

The roadmap, signed by Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Chinese vis-à-vis Wei Fenghe, capped a year that has seen an unprecedented growth in military cooperation, including large-scale war games in China’s Ningxia in August, when Russian troops became the first foreign forces to join a regular Chinese drill, as well as announcements to jointly develop military helicopters, missile attack warning systems and even a research station on the moon.

  23. US Freezes $9.5 Billion Belonging to Afghanistan, Exacerbating Humanitarian Crisis for Poor Afghans

While the international community pays close attention to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the US government continues to seize nearly $9.5 billion in assets belonging to Afghan central bank. International aid organizations and experts globally issued heavy criticism on the Americans as the move has worsened the grim situation in the poor country.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that cash availability in Afghanistan remains one of the greatest concerns for all sectors and it is crucial that the international community finds solutions, even if temporary, to help the Afghan people.

"Cash shortages within the country concretely mean that health facilities may not be able to pay for fuel to run their generators, ambulances can't run, there isn't food for patients, and salaries have not been paid to health care workers for the past three months," said Khoder El Tari, deputy head of delegation of the ICRC.

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said the biggest challenge facing Afghanistan was financial insecurity and the "roots of this concern lead back to the freezing of assets" of the people by the US government.

In October, Deputy US Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo told a US Senate committee he saw no situation where the Taliban would be allowed to access the Afghan central bank reserves.

The US wants to use the frozen assets as bargaining chips in talks with the Afghan Taliban government, experts said, noting that while freezing the fortune of the Afghan people and seeing the people suffer from shortage of food and daily amenities, the US hypocritically said it cared about human rights situation in Afghanistan.

As winter approaches in Afghanistan, temperatures can drop to minus seven in certain areas and freezing temperatures can expose the population, especially children, to numerous health risks. Lack of cash and fuel shortage constitute huge challenges for many families in keeping themselves warm during the harsh winter conditions.

International organizations and scholars had warned against a shortage of food and basic items in Afghanistan.

China announced that it will provide 200 million yuan ($31.32 million) worth of emergency aid to Afghanistan, and the first batch of aid has already arrived in Kabul.

Meanwhile, a freight train loaded with more than 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid departed from Urumqi West Railway Station in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Saturday, and is set to arrive in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, in 12 days.

The goods on the train include naan and milk tea powder as well as such winter supplies as cotton-padded clothes, cotton shoes and blankets.

DBS denied speculation in Myanmar that the disruptions were somehow connected to the sale of treasury bonds there.

“There have been rumours that DBS’s digibanking service disruption is linked to the sale of treasury bonds by Myanmar’s National Unity Government,” the bank wrote on Twitter. “There is no truth to this. DBS has not sold any such bonds.”

Myanmar media had noted the timing, suggesting the events were linked. “After a lot of purchases for the NUG bonds in Singapore on Monday evening, online banking services of POSB and DBS, Singapore-based banks, got stuck,” the pro-democracy Mizzima outlet reported.

  31. Covid Alert: New Super-Mutated Covid Variant From South Africa

Travellers arriving in England from several southern African countries will have to quarantine amid warnings over a new coronavirus variant.

UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said from 12:00 GMT on Friday six countries would be added to the red list, with flights being temporarily banned.

One expert described the variant, known as B.1.1.529, as "the worst one we've seen so far", and there is concern it has the potential to evade immunity.

No cases have yet to be confirmed in the UK.

So far 59 confirmed cases have been identified in South Africa, Hong Kong and Botswana so far.

What do we know about this new variant?
What are the latest changes to UK travel rules?

All flights from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini are being suspended.

Mr Javid said that scientists were "deeply concerned" about the new variant but more needed to be learned about it.

But he said the variant has a significant number of mutations, "perhaps double the number of mutations that we have seen in the Delta variant".

He added: "And that would suggest that it may well be more transmissible and the current vaccines that we have may well be less effective."

Hope the arrogant, blinded, careless, reckless, suicidal, stubborn, money-minded, and ruthless MTF (Most Thoughtless Fools) does not recklessly allow any of the Travelers from the six African countries and Hongkong to enter Singapore.

    @Anon November 25, 2021 12:29 pm

    Anon 12.29pm,

For those who had been to 乌鲁木齐,they probably would have tasted their naan there.

The radius of the naan sold there and surrounding regions is larger than a Frisbee. The thickness about that of 15 pieces of roti prata stacked together.

One piece of the huge and thick naan can feed at least 5 pax.

Taste very good. Usually eat it with their hot lamb soup superb especially during a cold morning.

Very cheap some more. Per piece roughly one "sinkie" dollar. Usually would dabao a few pieces and eat for supper or breakfast or tea break.

Some place there also got horse milk. Very nutritious. Drink already body feel very warm. Usually after that need go do some workout for two hours like skipping, jumping, chin up, sit up and push up about 40 to 50 per set to burn off the energy. Should try the horse milk when go there. Some women like it very much. Say the horse milk very different from cow milk. Very strong and thick taste. Very filling also. And creamy texture. Before bed at night drink one cup they say feel very good and warm inside the body and whole night feel very comfy, relaxing and cosy for several hours to rest and let go, not unlike spa type of feeling and next morning waking up invigorated and recharged.

The goats there very hairy. Their back also quite different from goats in other places. Quite rounded and look more fleshy though covered with a lot of furs because of the cold weather during winter.

The lamb meat other places no fight. The lambs there mostly grazing at very high altitude. The meat quality superb. But guys if go there alone better eat the lamb meat only once a while cos very heaty and if eat lamb meat there every day at night body feel very warm inside and cannot get into sleep, then need get up to do some workout or rope skipping for at least one to two hours to burn the energy and calories away before can sleep soundly. Some women also said the lamb meat there very strong taste but they seem to like it.

So far the best breakfast combi is eating the naan with hot lamb meat and a cup of horse milk. Whole day will feel very strong and energetic. Can do work throughout the day till night time without feeling fatigue.
