Covid19 - Rational or irrational decision making

An old Chinese saying, which I have heard from old folks many times when I was still schooling:

"Don't study books so much until the brain is filled with shits!"

The recent restrictive measures and severe discriminations against the unvaccinated - who are mainly oldies and those who cannot take the vaccines, and children under 12 years old, who have no vaccines available for them - are an obvious reflection of people who have study books so much until their brains are filled with shits and incompetence.

It shows:

1. No common sense and making decisions not based on facts but conjectures, hearsays and theories.

2. Making decisions in order to please the Western foreign powers and foreigners but discrimated against own citizens.

3. Making decisions based on the sole objective of reconnecting with other countries for national level economic gains but disregarding the small and medium size local entrepreneurs, restaurants, food courts, hawkers and coffee shops.

4. Making decisions based on the unexpert experts' advice instead of common sense, prudence and wisdom -, the qualities which the leaders seem to be devoid of.

  1. COVID-19 Singapore: Haphazard Adhoc Measures Caused More Pain Than Help

The whole government seems to show a severe lack of coordination between ministers and ministries. This is likely the result of having three co-chairmen but no leader to control the Multi-Ministry Task Force. How can one have a Task Force without a Force Leader? Who is to make the final co-ordination and decision? Who is to lead the Task Force? At least a Senior Minister or the Deputy Prime Minister should be heading the Task Force, isn't it?

There is obviously no one coordinating all the proposals, ideas, options, measures and protocols.

The PM seems to have switched off or fallen asleep on his desk for the last 22 months. He had said during the last election hastings, in July 2020, that he would continue to lead the country until the COVID-19 Pandemic situation has improved. But after the election, he was seldom to be heard, seen nor found. Except for the few occasional speeches, he seems to be in hibernation or on a holiday mood, while his wife actively making postings on her Facebook pages, giving updates and directions on COVID-19 and Vaccination. Perhaps on behalf of him? Operating by proxy or 'remote control'?

The fact is that in any country, the whole COVID-19 Pandemic cannot be handled by just the Multi-Ministry Task Force alone. It has to involve all the Ministers and Permanent Secretaries of all the Ministries. Simply because it affects the whole country, the whole population and all walks of life.

In the last 22 months, there has been a series of flip-flopping, up and down, open-shut, and like changing underwear, decisions, measures, protocols and procedures. All actions seems like the 'suka-suka' way of doing things that small kids are used to do.

Instead of helping us, all these crazy and lazy changes have in fact made us more confused, frightened and upset. In other words, giving us more headaches and pains, instead of consoling us and eliminating or lessening our difficulties and lighten our loads, especially financial, mobility, communication, health and anxiety.

It is about time, the Multi-Ministry Task Force be disbanded and the whole Pandemic or Endemic (whatever you want to call it, it makes no difference really; the virus is determined to spread far, wide and deep, causing sickness and death) should be handed by the Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister. There should be a Cabinet Coordinating Meeting every day, and an All-Ministries Meeting every week, with both the Ministers and the Permanent Secretaries attending. This is the only way to function at the very top level until the whole COVID-19 situation has subsided and the returned to normal way of life.

Just my humble recommendation. Take it or leave it, its up to you. You are the King.

  2. This incompetent government still playing with daily covid number, masking the seriousness of covid infection. Already a doctor died, and there is a possibility that the infection might kill any of your family member and relative, and these clowns still want to hide those data, knowing that widespread infection has serious consequences.

When cannot control pandemic, simply call it endemic and let the virus spread like nobody business. Always take shortcut to excuse for their incompetency and uselessness.

  3. When infections proliferate in malls, hawker centres, coffee shops and restaurants where only fully vaccinated are allowed, in the new protocol, you will understand why they do not want to report on tracing the sources of infections anymore. Doing so would kill their narrative that only unvaccinated individuals are the cause of infections.

  4. The most silly claim is to protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated. What a clownish joke.

Aren't the vaccinated already protected by the vaccines?

Now that make sense. Bloody evil toxic government, those who died of covid will become ghost to haunt those evil doers responsible for their death.

  6. COVID-19 Is Worse Than War And Should Be Managed As Such

This Pandemic is like a war. The government should have been on war-footing, instead of being so relaxed and happily going lucky, monitoring and reacting, and keeping the fingers crossed. Waiting for hindsight to make decisions and hoping for a miracle to happen.

In fact, this Pandemic is worse than war. In a war setting, we can see the enemy forces' deployments through good reconnaissance and intelligence. But in this case, the enemy has already invaded our country and is invisible, invincible and everywhere, attacking our people every day without fail or fear.

There is no way to find out where and when, and who and how it is going to attack before it happens.

There is no possibility of assessing how many casualties we are going to suffer and how serious the casualties will be, before hand.

Therefore, there should have an Operations Centre set up at every level - right from the very top at the PMO to the Grassroot level at every community centre, manned 24 hours round the clock, on 3 shifts. All the MPs should be incharge of their respective community centres instead of being so divorced from this national and international disaster.

At every ministry, police station, hospital, polyclinic and airport, sea port, bus interchanges and MRT Station, there should also be an Operation Centre too.

What are the Ops Centre supposed to do? They serves as a network of Tentacles, branching to every loop and corner, to control, coordinate, monitor and supervise Covid-19 related activities, regulations, information and emergencies; preventing large scale infections before they happen or arresting the spreading before it is too late. Nipping the problem at the bud instead of fire-fighting after the fire has started to spread.

The SAF, the Civil Defence and the Police must be mobilised to help out on a 24/7 daily basis, at every Operations Centre. Remember, this is war!

All the above and more should have been organised and done from the very beginning, in March 2020. Why are they still not done is a $200 billion question.

Becoming millionaires with so much power so easily has caused complacency and incompetence? Resulting in always trying to find the easy, lazy or crazy way out? Looks like it.

This pandemic has definitely exposed the good, the bad and the ugly across the board. No way to hide. The wise people know.

  7. Covid19 is turning into a civilisation war. One civilisation will triumph and the other go down the gutters.

In Sin, we have many little Trumps thinking Trump's is the genius and his way is the best way. The virus is fake.

  8. Our experts are expecting the virus to play by the rules. There is no rule to follow and we are just assuming the virus will behave like we want it to be. It may work on Sinkies that are conducive to control, but it will not work with the virus.

  9. The ship MV-Xinkapora-5:8-MP is sinking. Why? The Captain and his crew, the engineers and technicians do not know what hits the ship. They have been sleeping on the job. As per normal when the captain conducts a meeting with his crew members they only talk on frivolus things like the cats and dogs, the bees and butterflies, the birds and the flies, the grasshoppers and cockroaches, the mice and lice and the food and wine and when everything seems so nice. They do not know that the ship is sinking and sinking fast. When they have meetings supposely to talk about the affairs of the ship, instead they either talk nonsense or doze off.

That sinking ship is Singapore. The politicians, the ministers and MPs are all below par with third rate intelligence and ability. But how could they with third rate calibre collect first rate and even very high special rate salary. Their inefficiencies and incompetence in their jobs do not measure up to the high sinful salaries they pay themselves from the public coffers, the tax payers' money. They must shake up and stop talking nonsense in parliament, stop dozing off in parliament and stop being a-yes-man all the time. It's high time they do something really good for Singapore to justify the unrealistic high sinful salaries they are taking from the people.

Singaporeans are short-changed by low mentality politicians.

  10. In the USA the vaccinated are so frightened of the unvaccinated to infect them that they are treating the unvaccinated like lepers or rabid case. The unvaccinated are barred or banned from many public places just like the stupidity has no cure are doing here.

Why are the vaccinated so frightend of the unvaccinated when they claimed to have the best vaccines that did not work? Unbelieveable. If this is the case, the unvaccinated must be very frightened of the vaccinated because the latter pretended to be protected from the virus really not and are the ones that are spreading the virus to the unvaccinated.

It is so easy to follow stupidly what the stupid Americans are doing, without needing to think. Whatever the Americans are doing must be the right thing, oh, open the economy, live with the virus, punished the unvaccinated, and enjoy the company of the virus and let those that needed to die die.

When the dust settled, who do you think would still be alive and standing?

  11. Hong Kong risks global status as Singapore opens up to world

Mr Danny Lau, who runs a factory in Guangdong province across the China border that manufactures construction materials mostly for US clients, said that "Hong Kong could easily be taken over by Singapore" as Asia's international financial hub if it continues with its Covid-zero policy.

"We, of course, welcome the Singapore model because it's very difficult to eradicate Covid-19," said Mr Lau, who serves as honorary chairman of the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association. "There may still be cases after five years. Are you going to close the border for five years?"

Mrs Lam and other Hong Kong officials say the policies are popular with the public and have worked in suppressing the virus: The city has seen fewer than 12,300 cases and only 213 deaths throughout the entire pandemic.

  12. The Covid-19 zero policy after 80% of the population is vaccinated will defeats the purpose of creating immunity among the populace so that the country can open up for more activities and open borders traveling.

During the open policy the data shows only 0.2% of fully vaccinated peoples will fall ill and very few will died mostly due to their health conditions.

The open up policy for Singapore now will saves our jobs and keep our economy going.

  13. COVID-19: When And How To Open Up

When more and more people are sickened by COVID-19 all the time, or killed by COVID-19, where is the need for jobs? Only when people can stay healthy and kicking then they can work. Then they need jobs.

Yes, open up is necessary at some point in time. But when and how you open up is the key point. Better be safe than be sorry and regret. You open up too early, you risk going back to square one again and again. And if you are careless and reckless by not considering all the probabilities, you will also go back to square one, or even worse off. You may not recover

You can't simply say, "Now that we have 82% vaccinated, we can treat the Pandemic as Endemic, and starts a new normal".

If this COVID-19 virus has not taught you to be careful, then you have wasted one and half years of our precious and difficult time.

You can't carelessly open to any country 'Quarantine-Free', just because they can show you a piece of paper showing that they have been vaccinated. That paper most probably could be fake or improperly authorized through, bribery. Are you do gullible?

You can't be reckless by being blinded by your zeal to kick-start the economy as early as possible, just because 82% of people have been vaccinated. The full vaccination lasts only 3-6 months, not forever. The vaccinated are still being infected and killed. More than 50% to 60% of those who died were among the vaccinated group. So, Vaccination must not be a free ticket to everything. The vaccinated can still spread the virus to both the unvaccinated and the other vaccinated.

You are dealing with the Coronaviruses
not with the people, vaccinated or not. The important thing is to be very careful with the Coronaviruses. Very careful not to allow carriers of the Coronavirus to enter our country and spread it everywhere they go.

You must not let your guards down at all times, whether open up or locked down.

Masks, safe distancing, washing of hands, group activities limitation, testing and Quarantine are necessary. Once you let any of these be removed, you are reckless. You are asking for troubles again.

The Coronavirus is waiting like a hawk above you, like a ghost next to you, and like a swarm of bees around you, waiting for you to make the slightest mistake, the slightest opening, to allow it to strike. It strikes without mercy, without any care of who you are, what you are or where you are. It simply loves to infect you, the careless ones, the reckless ones.

The Coronavirus is not going to abide by your beautifully dreamt up plans or forceful orders. It will give you its middle finger/spike and bulldoze its way through whatever flimsy perimeter fence that you may have put up.

What we must do at all times:

    1. Respect the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

    2. Fear the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Don't dismiss it as insignificant and think that it cannot infect you. The PM told you not to let fear paralyze you. That's correct. But fear you must have. Otherwise, you will not respect the Coronavirus. Otherwise, you will not keep the safe distance. Otherwise, you will not be bothered to wear a mask or to wear it properly. Otherwise, you will become careless, reckless and heartless. Fear is a very good friend. Don't dismiss it. But also don't be paralyzed by it.

    3. Be on guard all the times, like your life depends on it. Wear your mask all the time, in a proper way. Wash your hands. Keep safety distance, etc.

    4. Be considerate not to transmit it to fellow Singaporeans, especially the oldies. When you feel you are sick, stay at home. Quarantine yourself. Get help if necessary.

If the whole population of people are fully educated, disciplined and willing to abide by the above 4 rules, then we can slowly and cautiously open up.

You don't open up just because you have 82% of people vaccinated! That is a lousy basis to based on. Vaccination with pseudo vaccines effective only 3-6 months, gives you a false sense of security and safety. We must not fail into that trap knowingly.
