A netizen posted photographs showing MOM staff confronting an unknown female who was said to be a Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW). The netizen said that the MOM officers had caught the FDW doing distribution for her online fashion business. This incident happened on 4 October 11.30am in front of Tangs Orchard.
According to the netizen's account, the FDW was allegedly involved in doing fashion business and the bus stop at Tangs Orchard was the collection point for her customers. Before the MOM staff stepped in, many customers were witnesses going up to the FDW to pick up their orders.
She was so busy managing her customers that she did not notice the guy in blue. The guy later wore a lanyard with an ID card went up to the FDW. He was joined by another lady wearing a MOM vest who then spoke with the FDW, took her particulars and photos of the Work Permit (WP).
The netizen hopes to remind other FDWs that WP holders are disallowed
from engaging in any online businesses or peddle any items during their
off day. The harshest penalty will result in their WP being cancelled
and the FDW being deported.

I am very impressed that MOM officers are policing the activities of FDW. It must have taken a lot of manpower and resources in investigative works to catch these FDWs engaging in activities other than what they were allowed to do here.
I would be more impressed if the MOM officers were to engage in checking on fake degrees and companies practising discriminatory hiring of foreigners instead of Singaporeans. Perhaps MOM need to employ more officers id they want to catch more FDWs doing a little business in their free time, and also to catch errant employers choosing to hire foreigners and not Singaporeans.
Dunno which one is more important. What do you think?
Mom has their priority right. The FDWs are only here to provide basic domestic help to households and should strictly adhere to all the rules of their employment. The foreign PMETs are the real 'talents' who are needed for our economy. And still very much welcome according to some govt ministers. So questioning and çhecking the authenticity rigorously of their qualifications is insensitive and would turn away many. Nevermind that some fakes may have been overlooked and seeped thru. Remember that ex Infocomm Indian lady PMET . She was still declared a 'talent' when uncovered with a degree mill.
ReplyDeleteNTU graduates have to do grabs for living.
ReplyDeleteWhile FW still have all the secure jobs.
This rubbish govt is totally useless.
The most important thing for MOM to do now during this COVID-19 Pandemic period is to cancel all permits for foreigners from India, USA and Brazil, the three countries that have the highest infections and still climbing without any hope of ending.
ReplyDeleteThose holding Singapore PR status (and their dependents) from such countries should be temporarily stopped from entering Singapore.
On the one hand, MOH is trying to stop the spread of the COVID-19 infections in the country. But on the other hand, MOM is so lax, without any care about controlling the import of infected foreigners from those three countries, especially India, and Immigration under MOHA also never seem to care.
Why is there no coordination right at the top, at PMO level?
Is it because too much time has been spent in busily preparing the law suit against someone who copy other's article and posted it on his Facebook page?
Cannot lah, India super power afterwards threaten to sue Singapore how? Then there are many Indian fans not happy and threaten India will bring back all its talents then Singapore will sink into a third world country how? Frightening man.
ReplyDeleteForeigners are creating jobs for Singaporeans. The jobs created to watch over the dorms are already a handful. Now policing is another area of jobs creation. Last I heard 30,000 new jobs have been created.
ReplyDeleteAgriculture is also on the cards, I believe. Last I heard was that not many people want to go into this sector because once the business gets going, the Government wants the land back for building more valuable assets, like condos, when the short lease expires Many have gone over to Matland instead. Safer, cheaper and much longer lease to grow their business.
If Singapore needs more jobs, they have to bring in more foreigners to create the jobs. That is the only way they can think of!
Hahaha
If any government needs foreigners to create jobs for the locals, that means that government is either finding the easy route out, lazy to innovate or sleeping on past laurels.
ReplyDeleteThat also means the leaders of that government are clueless, spineless, and free-riders. Period.
Simple as that.
SSO (Simply Say Only)
Indians coming to Singapore bring with them knowledge and experience. They come to train Singaporeans and to create job for Singaporeans. PAP government loves them. CECA is a blessing for Singapore. Without CECA many jobs in Singapore will have to be exported overseas. CECA is good for Singapore, enabling Singapore to be competitive. Let's face it, if CECA is not good for Singapore HSK would not have signed it. RIGHT??
ReplyDelete11.16pm anon, if u truely believed it and not just try to be sarcastic. Then I am afraid u needed to be sodomized jialat jialat to wake up from slumber
DeleteAnon 11.16, you sleeping under the carpet for too long like the cockroach.
ReplyDeleteIndians come here with their experience to train Singaporeans to build toilets? Or to teach our grandmothers to suck eggs? Or how to start a caste system? Or how to do gang rape?
Singapore was already well ahead of India in terms of infrastructure, living standards, law and order so what can the Indians teach us? Imagine a third world country trying to teach a first world country how to do things using third world methods. Please elaborate!
Sorry, India is going to be first world now, in terms of COVID19 infections and death. In reality India is already well ahead of the USA in this department. Please keep the experience and expertise of COVID19 at home in India. We do not need them!

ReplyDeleteGoldfish have eyes on both sides of their heads and cannot see properly. It is because HSK signed the CECA that he almost lost his pants in the recent election. Go figure it out.

ReplyDeleteThere are many stupid millionaires in Singapore that want to be taught how to do business by the Indians and how to take this third world island city state to become first world like India.
That is the reason why they are bringing in so many Indians and employed them in top jobs to teach useless and daft Sinkies how to downgrade and become Grab drivers.
Hahaha
ReplyDeleteIndia first world? Yeah, you are right!
Wait a minute, first world in what? COVID19 infections and death? I believe you, India will be first world soon. Many times over. In Indian language or Indian accounting? Congratulations in advance!
If India not first world, how can so many CECA Indians landed top jobs here and looking down on daft Sinkies? And many are buying up private properties in Singapore as well.

ReplyDeleteOK, if according to your Indian accounting, India is first world, no one can argue with Indian accounting lah! Just believe in your fantasy.
Here in third world Sinkieland we shit in comfortable toilets rather then pooing into the rivers. We bathe in comfortable showers instead of in polluted rivers. We do not see corpse floating by in the rivers but have nice and hygienic cremation areas. What is third world and what is imaginary first world you yourself can keep harping lah!
Just enjoy your fanciful dream.
