Over reliance on foreigners to write about Singapore news - marginalising of Singaporean correspondents

If one bothers to notice, the serious news column in local media are often filled by foreigners writing about Singapore affairs. If this is not foreign interference in our domestic politics, what is?

The corollary to this trend is the marginalisation of our own reporters and journalists. Singapore is becoming a sick country that does not bother to train its own talents and keeps on bringing in foreigners to replace them in every industry and profession. If the govt does not bother to give Singaporeans the opportunity to grow into bigger players, who else would be interested to groom or help Singaporeans to grow in their jobs and professions?

A case in point is the CEO of DBS bank. If the top job is to be filled by foreigners, to train foreigners instead of Singaporeans, what is left for Singaporeans to gain the experience to helm such jobs? Thank God we have Wee Cho Yaw to train Singaporeans to helm UOB. If not, UOB would also be handed to foreigners in a silver platter and making Singaporeans looking silly.

When would such silly policy of training foreigners and exposing them to top jobs be given to Singaporeans? I still remember the days of Goh Keng Swee when he would throw Singaporeans into the deep end of the pool, to learn the rope, to gain the experience that no one would give them, to grow into the jobs.  That is how we train our first generation of top civil servants, military leaders and captains of industries. Today we stupidly retrain our PMETs into lower paying jobs to become gardeners, nurses etc etc while bringing inexperienced foreigners to be put into top jobs to gain the training and experience.

It is so sad that the pages of local media is now being filled by foreigners who would write their narratives from the eyes and perspective of foreigners, and foreign interest while our own writers are writing about food, pets and poos.

How sad that Singapore has deteriorated to this level where Singaporeans are being downgraded everyday in every industry while foreigners are taking over and in charge. There will be no future top Singaporean bankers in the making.  There will be no good quality Singaporean correspondents in the making, and neither would there be many top Singaporeans in other industries if this silly policy continues.

Stupidity has no cure is a national disease in Singapore and is spreading like wild fire across every level of Singaporeans. If you don't train Singaporeans in top jobs, not stupid low level jobs, if you don't give Singaporeans the opportunity to gain the experience, soon there will be no Singaporeans left in top jobs. No country would be as silly as Singapore to train foreigners and marginalise its own citizens in this way.

It is so disgusting and painful to see this happening in Singapore.

    Answer:

    1. "Silly policy" is being too kind and to diplomatic. The correct words to use is "treacherous policy".

    2. Only when 55% vote against the PAP, and thereafter a different government is formed to replace the present sell-out to foreigners PAP government.

    3. At present, the sufferings to 61% of Singaporeans are not serious enough. After the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, then the economic situation might drive home the lesson of being too obedient and subservient as a people without spine (as described by LKY at one point).

    4. People without spines are unable to stand up by themselves. They need all the time somebody to hold them up or they need very strong clutches to help them move. In other words, they need to be kicked in the ass of knocked on the head so hard that they suddenly realise that "things are not right, it's time to do something collectively."

    5. The aftermath of COVID-19 might just be the right thing to kick asses and knock on numbskull heads.

  4. Shittimes should be renamed to the Mumbai Times. Most of the heavy opinion articles are written by people of probably the same foreign country. The locals only write on the leisury stuff. How did it ended like this? Perhaps we have to thank CGT for starting the "Indian fever" and still boasts about it. Now reading on SCMP.Australia is looking to diversify its trade with India after the fallout with China but is apprehensive of an agreement . The reason - India refuse to cut tariffs and want to send its nationals on work visas to Australia like CECA. India want baojiak like durians. Only Singapore is foolish to think of making $ and not about the consequences it is experiencing now.

By your logic, daft Singaporeans also cannot run the country lah. No substance type, got no new ideas. Everytime say we will monitor, watch and see, wait and see. Then behind the back get foreigners to do the work. Then claim it's their own idea and own work. Then ask for higher bonus. No wonder every time talk cock like sing song.

  9. Some silly fuckers are still talking about bringing in foreign talents. Must be under pressure from India and CECA Indians so no choice but to keep appease them. If not they would pull out their world class companies from our Chennai Business Park in Changi.

Facing such threats, the knees must be weak and trembling. Punch above our weight or kena bokok bokok?

  10. We have a few hundred thousands of the world best talents here oredy. There are still a few hundred milllion world best talents out there to be brought in here to prevent them from working against us.

Singapore's population will go up to a few hundred millions when these world best foreign talents are here. 100m from India.

  11. In his statement, he added: “By Singapore core, we mean Singapore citizens. There is however ambiguity with the term ‘locals’ when PRs are bracketed together with citizens, in the recent data on PMETs revealed by the government.”

“We must be very clear that ‘locals’ and ‘core’ refer to Singapore citizens. So in principle, if given a choice between a citizen and a non-citizen worker, the default should be for the Singapore citizen to keep the job, all things being equal,” he said.
