NS Square and 'locals' - Uniquely Singapore when a circle is a square, when non citizens are considered as Singapore core, as good as being citizens

Below is a reprint of parts of an article by Tan Bah Bah in theindependent.sg on the plight of Singaporeans and how their importance and relevance to Singapore, as citizens of Singapore, are being diminished by the often used term, 'locals' as Singapore core.  True blue Singaporeans that have made immense sacrifices in NS and many things else need not have to be made to feel that the PRs are as important as them, as core of Singapore when they are at most fair weather residents here, economic migrants.

True blue Singaporeans must feel offended and stand up to object to the reference of PRs as locals and Singaporeans in the same breath. This is unacceptable and only pro foreigners and PRs would love to use this derogatory term to hide the numbers of Singaporeans being displaced by foreigners.  We are citizens, PRs are not.  We made great sacrifices in NS, PRs don't.

Singapore is the most silly little country with silly people that voted for the bringing in of foreigners to replace them in high paying jobs by the hundreds of thousands and they been sacked or ended in low paying jobs like Grab drivers, security guards and delivery boys.

And now these foreigners are now addressed as part of the Singapore core. And the elites are unhappy if Singaporeans are not happy with this silly situation when foreigners are more equal than citizens.

Here is Tan Bah Bah's piece.

....No need for Temasek to be so overly sensitive. The more inappropriately high-horse and holier-than-thou attitude it adopts, the greater the anger it will get from true-blues who are already irritated at being told that they have no right to find out what the exact amount of their combined reserves is. And they may also be unhappy that this company charged with handling part of their national reserves has the audacity to lecture them on intolerance and the inability to see the big picture.

The more important issues are: who should the government be protecting the most? What precisely is the Singapore core?

This should be blindingly clear. It is the job of the people put into power to protect the lives and livelihoods of people who have put them in power. Singapore belongs to Singaporeans – not to the temporary occupants of Istana or Parliament nor to anyone else who are here who are NOT citizens, whether permanent residents or foreigners.

The only true Singapore core is true-blue born and bred Singaporeans. No others. They have every right to have their interests placed at the top of every national policy, especially those affecting their jobs and their future.

It is a massive insult to lump Singaporeans together with PRs as “locals” and have that insensitively packaged as the Singapore core. The government may wish to sell that as “taking care of the Singapore core”. Singaporeans will not buy that absurd koyo.

PRs do not have to serve National Service. They also have countries to go back to. True-blues do not, their roots are here.

And please do not have Singaporeans cynically believe the “NS” in the just named NS Square in Marina Bay stands for “New Singaporeans” and not National Service.

Tan Bah Bah, consulting editor of TheIndependent.Sg, is a former senior leader writer with The Straits Times. He was also managing editor of a local magazine publishing company.

SINGAPORE: The NS Square, which will replace The Float @ Marina Bay, will become a “red dot” and the “central focus” of Singapore’s downtown, announced Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day message on Sunday morning (Aug 9).  CNA

Let's see how square is this circle. Is there any straight lines that normally are found in a square, plus right angles? Oh ya, outside the circle there are some straight lines, but still no right angles.

Children, raise your hands if you spot a square.

  1. I think the self-destruct cancer cells in his body must have moved into his cranium and invaded his brain cells. Of late, in recent years, he has been acting funny and making funny decisions to policies and practices that are not in sync with normality and common sense. Most of these recent decisions are detrimental to the well-being of Singapore and Singaporeans, both short and long term.

He has to step down quickly. Otherwise, more and more people will suffer and LKY's legacy will go to the gutters.

  2. Can Singapore afford to continue to go down this path of selling Singapore to foreigners, of bringing in more foreigners to be citizens to take a share of the little island, to bring in more foreigners while Singaporeans are being sacked, sidelined, underemployed and still need money to live in this most expensive city in the world?

The foreigners are brought in not to fill a temporary need, but to replace Singaporeans permanently in jobs that Singaporeans want and need.

NO NOT JUST A POLICY, MORE THAN POLICY.

    IT'S A POWER OBSESSION.

THIS POWER OBSESSION IS DUE TO THE FEAR OF HIDDEN SECRETS BEING EXPOSED IN THE FUTURE, ESPECIALLY THE WIFEY' ENORMOUS REMUNERATION AND THE LOSSES TEMASEK MADE, AND THE NATIONAL RESERVES AND CPF.

THIS POWER OBSESSION LET TO THE CUNNING PLAN AND ACTIONS OF THE NEED TO BRING IN NEW CITIZENS WHO WILL BE BEHOLDEN TO VOTE FOR THE PAP, IN ORDER TO SECURE THE THRONE OF POWER FOREVER.

THIS ABSURDLY SELFISH MOTIVE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERPETUATE AT THE EXPENSE OF ALL OF OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. IT MUST STOP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, OTHERWISE, AS WE CAN ALREADY SEE, THE TYRANNY OF THE FEW IS NOW HOLDING RANSOM ON THE MANY.

  8. Why when they gave statistics of anything including unemployments, why must they always lumped up Singaporeans and PRs. ??

PRs are PRs. As Anon above said foreigners. Singaporeans are Singaporeans.

They must always quote strike a balance. Whether true or false 60 to 40 percent Singaporeans to Foreigners.

In this Deep deep RECESSION it should be Singaporeans 90% in jobs and 10% PRs and foreigners.

  10. Singapore — Peoples Voice party leader Lim Tean has supported blogger and activist Leong Sze Hian’s call for transparency to provide a breakdown of how many of the disclosed 170,000 jobs in the financial sector are held by Singaporeans.

On Thursday (Aug 13), Mr Leong quoted a businesstimes.sg report noting that 22,000 net jobs were created in the financial sector between 2015 and 2019. Of these, three out of four jobs went to locals, according to Ms Jacqueline Loh, a Deputy Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

The statement released the previous day by MAS cited that at least 75 per cent of the jobs created were “bagged by Singapore citizens and permanent residents”. In total, the financial sector of the country accounted for 13.3 per cent of Gross Domestic Product last year and employed more than 170,000 workers.

  15. Addressing The Valid Question of 'What can you do?'

Don't just ask what can you do and stop there in despair. Think of a solution!

If by telling (complaining) them is not effective, then use the reverse psychological approach.

Encourage them to import more foreigners until it reaches a boiling point.

Once the boiling point is breached, all hell will break loose. The culprits will then be hounded and hunted down like rats. The power that be will become the power that cannot be. The heat will be so hot that it becomes untenable for the situation to remain status quo anymore.

Change then comes naturally as a matter of momentum.

Suddenly, out of the blue, true blue, pure blue, there arises a collective wisdom so great that no existing powers can overcome its avalanche and tsunami, its fury and wrath, its hunger and pangs, its raw power and forceful strikes..... The end of the Old is near. The New is born into the Brave New World!

That is one option that you can do.

If one solution does not work, think of another, and another, and another until you achieve your goal.

If at seeing the first sign of a problem, you just gave up, then you are no better than animals. At least animals can instinctively know how to adapt and survive. Not just survive but thrive.

If you just resigned to the unfavourable fate and tell yourself, "What can you do?", and behaved like a lan-lan lan-chiow and talk like a puny lan-chiow, then you deserve whatever shits that came your way.

So, be hardworking a bit with your brain. Don't let your brain goes rusty and later becomes senile.

Humans are born with a brain to think better than animal instincts. If animals know how to adapt and thrive, humans should do even better.

If there is a couple vampires (husband and wife team) sucking your blood and poisoning your lives, you don't simply allow your lives to be wasted away. You find a solution to the problem. You either get rid of the vampires' followers in order to cut off the supply of fresh blood to the vampires, or you get rid of the vampires directly at all costs.

    If there is no compromise
arising out of a long period of negotiations and sufferings, then it's either they survive at your expense or vice versa. Simple as that.

No country wait for 100%, or 80%, or 60% of the citizenry to have the courage to rise and face the monster. It has always been the minority that fought against the monster and won. Sometimes,
it's only one or a small group of persons. The pattern has always been David against Goliath. Never Goliath vs Goliath.

Therefore, start thinking of solutions now, before your future generations condemn you for inaction.

    Cheer up!

Perhaps they are afraid if the true fiqure are revealed, they will face a massive backlash.

  18. PAP elites tell Singaporeans that Singapore will always need foreign talents to help the economy. Singaporeans mostly don't disagree with this point.

What the PAP elites slyly avoided mentioning is that for almost 40 years after 1965 Independence, Singapore was able to prosper with only less that half a million foreigners in Singapore inclusive of PRs. The figure today is more than 2.3 million - a huge increase of nearly 2 million foreigners over the last relatively short period of 15 years, allowing Singaporean PMET jobs to be severely cannibalized by the huge influx of foreigners.

Due to the bad handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic by those who have been promoted by the self-proclaimed aristocrats to their level of incompetence, I have to lockdown my three retail outlets for 3 months and lost all my customers. And still had to pay my workers pay and shop rentals to Temasek Holdings' subsidiaries and NETS.

After reopening last month, I could not even breakeven for the month, let alone recover my losses.

As a result, I have to consolidate my resources and close down two outlets, leaving only one to try to survive.

I have no choice but to retrench seven of my twelve workers.

If after another month, I still cannot make ends meet, I will have to close down my remaining outlet and look for a job for myself. All my remaining five workers will have to go.

  32. I disagree with 5:36pm. The fact that we have this CECA shit for so long, and so many Singaporeans, PMETs and young graduates, suffered unemployment, underemployment and being discriminated and humiliated by the interviewers that are mostly foreigners, are testament to not crying out loud.

The sheep has been too quiet for their own good. And when clever politicians put their ears on the ground and hear nothing, they would say good, all quiet on the western front. So no problem, the people have accepted the shit and not complaining.

Now the shit is everywhere with many suffering untold damages, financially and emotionally, some even gone insane.

That is the price for not crying, not shouting, not screaming, when you have to.

Now everyone is screaming and shouting. A bit too late. The foreigners are here and taken over half of your country. Soon they will tell you not happy fuck off to somewhere else. They are taking over.

You better pray that Ah Heng and Ah Chan can hold on to their seats and stay in control. If not, the foreigners would throw them into the longkangs and then come after you. You will be next, for being so kuai and so quiet.

Maybe you two are correct, from your own respective perspectives? And maybe my hope is misplaced, according to your calculations?

Maybe your personal perspective and assertion are based on a lost hope, which has been dashed over the years, every four to five years, by the forgone conclusions of what the outcome would be after every GE. And the last GE's results have reinforced your despair, so much so that you have totally given up hoping? If this is the case, sad to say, then your world view is very narrow, and your belief system has been developed from mistrust of the basic human nature - that the majority of Singaporeans are basically hopeless - people who couldn't care a fuck about their future generations?

Maybe YOU have given up hoping for a change, for improvement for yourself and others because so many years have past and the PAP has been returned to power again and again, without fail, until it is ingrained into your mind that the PAP is invincible?

Maybe you are an insider within the PAP and you know for sure that the votes can be manipulated to tilt in favour of your incumbent boss. That's why you are so cock-sure that my proposed solution is nonsense?

Maybe YOU are now having a good comfortable life and you do not want to change the existing situation, for fear that your comforts may be altered to your dislike?

Maybe YOU are here to discredit my ideas so as to demolish me and my hope? Because you know that I am on the right path. Because you fear that others might be convinced by my ideas and suggestions?

The first man who said that the Earth was round and not flat, was demonized, persecuted and executed by the majority and by the powerful "holy" leaders at that time. So have been many others who were the first to propose or suggest a new idea went against most people's belief. Why has this been so and still being the norm today? Very simple. 90% of the masses do not think deep enough, do not search for new answers, alternative methods. 95% of people prefer status quo, instead of change. 99% are not creative enough to become leading innovators and inventors.

And there are interested parties who deliberately work to ensure that change does not happen to their political powers. Just look at Donald Trump and his latest desperate manoeuvres to hang on to power. That's why, most of the time change is so difficult to come by. Especially political systems embedded deep into the whole society, permeating every loop and corner, in a stranglehold that very few can breathe freely yet are afraid to make even a tiny winny squeak, like a church mouse.

In the mean time, ponder over this:

    "Hope springs eternal in the human breast;

Man never is, but always to be blest.

The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home,

Rests and expatiates in a life to come."

~ by Alexander Pope: An Essay on Man.

  35. It is a bit late, but still not too late. We have to continue shouting until those who are selling out our country have no choice but to stop their traitorous ways in order to have some peace. The number of foreigners is not large enough yet to overthrow us. Aware of the citizens' anger, they are lying low now. No swarming and taking over the facilities and common areas of the condo, no loud talking as though they own the land. If we stop shouting and allow their numbers to grow, they will take over our country and make themselves our masters.

    Read this:

"And there are interested parties who deliberately work to ensure that change does not happen to their political powers. Just look at Donald Trump and his latest desperate manoeuvres to hang on to power. That's why, most of the time change is so difficult to come by. Obviously, you have not disagreed with the above logic!

You must have disagreed for the sake of disagreeing because you have also said, "Just wait and see in 4 to 5 years time." That means you are not sure of yourself. If that is so, then we can always agree to disagree. This is what democracy is all about. This is a healthy sign.

Or, you truly think that Singaporeans can be easily bought with money? Because Ministers have been made millionaires? If that is so, then your perception of human nature, especially Singaporeans, is pathetic. It looks like you have lost confidence in your own fellow countrymen, women and children. That is a very sad thing. How did Singaporeans come to this pathetic stage - a pathetic lot of people who can be easily bought with a few hundred dollars just before GE? Is it because of prolonged systemic brainwashing and indoctrination, from Kindergarten to National Slavery to University?

Or, you are actually representing one of those interested parties who deliberately works to keep the status quo, so that change will not happen to affect you and your kind (or unkind)?

Whatever the case, let us "just wait and see 4 to 5 years time", as you have said, to see whether your logic or my logic prevails.

    P/S:

    1. The boiling point is reaching but not yet reached. The foreign invaders are still hidden in the Trojan horse, unseen and unheard of by those who are still mesmerized and those who are still in their slumber, enjoying their sweet dreams. When foreign ricebowls invaders have reached the critical mass, then the boiling point will be breached. By then, things will be very messy. Probably, there could be violence and bloodshed in the streets? Like in Afghanistan, Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
