GE2020 - The power of an image

Ivan Lim of PAP

The power of the pen is a familiar phrase in journalism that tells how powerful and influential a writer can be by just waving his pen. A painter or photographer too can wield similar power and influence by the picture they created.

Above are two pics of two candidates from two different parties in the coming GE. Oops, one ex candidate. To the readers, the impression of the two candidates, just by looking at these pics would create very different perceptions and impressions of them, positive and negative, likeable, acceptable, unpleasant etc etc.

Actually I did not want to post Mun Wai's pic here as it does not do justice to him as like many pics of him posted in the social media too did not make him look good. I have to post this here just to show the impact of what a good and decent pic or vice versa can do to the candidate. Look at Ivan Lim's pic, so handsome, so likeable. Auntie killer look, or boy next door look.

Incidentally both pics were taken from www.theindependent.sg. I would suggest to PSP to have a word with theindependent.sg and offer them pics of their candidates that they would like to use if theindependent.sg did not have any decent looking pics to post. Do not underestimate the power of the media, images and the press. Organisations paid millions to PR agencies just to make sure the pics of their people and organisations came out right and not offensive or unattractive.

  1. Good morning All and Mr RB.

    Not only this theindeposdent.sg.

The Shits Times and all other Mainstream Media under the balls of the PAP are under instructions to portray as much bad light as possible on the Opposition candidates.

Their Writers daily proganganda of how capable the PAP Ruling Government is.

Scaring daft Sinkies to give a mandate to the PAP that can only save your skin's and arses.

They had done enormous damage to CSJ portraying him as a Maverick out to destroy Singapore.

Daft Sinkies swallowed bait, hook and sinker believing in them.

One CSJ hater seemed to shut his gap now as feared he has to squeeze his balls to Death if CSJ win as I taunt him.

The Mainstream Media will choose the worst photos of the opposition candidates and their brushes with their own controlled laws to portray them as charlatans and scoundrels whilst portraying them as Angels.

All these Papies candidates, the courageous viligante social media must exposed their bad behaviours and also if they are connected to the PAP kau kais kau soons.

Don't be surprised that they related one way or the other.

Singaporeans must vote wisely this GE to take back our Country and have hope for their future generations.

Or it would be the last screws to their coffins.

Frankly, most are fearful and servile to the PAP with their greedy never dependent entitlement greed of them dishing out the pork barrel alms on the tax payers monies.

High time to make an.exit if they win again.

    1. I dread watching Mediacorpse shows. Every commercial break, they keep repeating clips of LHL and HSK speeeches about how much they have helped us and will in the future. Haven't we al got the message? Free campaigning prime time for the MIWs even before nonimation day? Come to think of it, they did it at every GE past. Is that fair?

  2. There is an old saying during my old school years,i.e. "Do not judge a book by its cover" and teacher would say: Read it before making any comments. Would this apply to a human being ? People say do not look down on others who have ugly face features or the ways they dressed. But in a high competitive society in this era, it seems that many youngster are brought up to think the other way round.

    1. Hi Anon 10.40

      You are absolutely right.

      That's why my lsst para.

      Frankly....blah blah..

The never ending dependent greedy Sinkies who reaches out to the PAP for alms will never vote for the Oppositions.

In their minds, who will give me these types of MONIES?

Most are servile and indebted to them for these handouts like hooked on drugs.

Those who are actually well off ones are also tiam sim and greedy in talking advantage of their votes buying excursion and other free treats.

Throwing away the future of their children and next generation future away with their greeds of these enjoyment.

Many had theur balls stuck in the wooden horses. Unable to move forward, backward and even dismount.

They have to rely on the Papies for many favours. If Oppo were to be in charge of their constituencies, they feared that their ask for help favours would be thrown into the drains.
For example renewal of visas for their foreign kins etc.

They knew how vindictive these Evil Serpents can be.

Now with fears of unemployments, the PAP wayang of estate having their jobs helping fairs. They won't dare to have an Oppo party in charge as they would be sidelined..past experiences with.the PAP Leaders constant threats of neglecting their wards had frightened them.

So it will be an uphill tasks for the OPPO to wrestle the powers from them.

Sinkies are a frightened lot which others called them pragmatic.

Just like in 2015 GE. Many of us high in hope that the Oppo will at least have ten to twenty seats and in the end even lost some wards and nearly took back of other wards.

This GE. Don't be surprised and shocked that it will be a 100 percent PAP win.

If NOT they won't be in such a hurry to hold the GE as conditions strongly favoured them in this chaotic made by them situation.

For too long, Sinkies are under their balls and had became zombies just listening to their holy gospels

    2. Really have to appreciate and salute the Opposition Parties who are trying to untie the choke holes and knee presses on the daft sinkies.

But sad to say, they would NOT be appreciated by these daft sinkies who deserved the government that they themselves blindly voted in.

  5. Vote PAP if you want CPF rules to keep changing to hold on to your money.

Vote PAP if you want more CECA Indians and foreigners to come in to take your jobs.

Vote PAP if you want more taxes and higher cost of living.

  6. It takes a lot of effort to choose ugly photos to do damage to the person. It is not accidental or done casually. There is intent.

  7. Wow, so many Papies skunks suppirters por lam pars going round Sinkiekand.

Reported that PV members having illegal parade with PAP Placards of their MPs sleeping in Parliament.

Wow, very fast. See the whole machineries of the PAP Evil Serpents harassing the Oppositions.

Too long, too much powers for too long that had rubbed onto the skunks behaviours towards sinkies and the OPPO.

Don't know that they themselves will be the ones that their own will suffer also.

    Daft sinkies.

    1. His own arrogant behaviours that brought shame to his mother and dared said hurt by criticisms.?

In Taiwan, they would have shamed and slammed him in the whole neighborhood.

Thankful he is in Singapore. Still had people defending him.

Real Chinese customs children who bought shame to their parents are cursed as the most unfilal children.

Lucky here Sinkieland bananas more forgiving.

  9. Ivan,at this age and wanting to become a PAP MP, you still bring out your mother to fend off criticisms on your own unpopular and spoilt brat characteristics and behavior. Grow up, boy! Shame on you! Singaporeans do not need people like you. Singaporeans need real man and real leader. Not more and more cry babies!

  13. State controlled media is a colonial legacy dishing out propaganda or political measages.

One channel 5 program,u have 3 pap mps on one screen !

Pre election coverage disguised as Diana interviews the ministers.

Not a fair play from this point of view.

Now without rallies and year round media coverage enjoyed by the incumbents. It is like pushing the boulder up the hill for the opposition parties.

  18. Extract of Letter of Withdrawal from GE 2020 Candidacy by Ivan Lim:

"In recent days, there have been various allegations made about my conduct and behaviour. Following my clarifications this morning, further allegations have emerged against me. These new allegations are baseless. I appreciate the support the Party has given to me throughout this period. I have consulted and discussed the matter with the Party leadership. I recognise that the controversy over my candidacy has eclipsed the core issues of what this election should be about - Singapore’s future and the difficult steps we have to take to recover from COVID-19. The controversy has also caused intense pain and stress for my family. I cannot put my family through this”

    Lee Hsien Loong's reply:

“The controversy about your candidature has been unfortunate. Ideally, there would have been a fair and deliberate consideration of these allegations. Unfortunately, the nature of the campaign is such that we do not have time for a thorough investigation. The allegations spread like wildfire online, eclipsing the serious life and death issues we must grapple with. I respect your decision to withdraw as a candidate. I regret that you and your family have had to bear such stress during this period. I hope Singaporeans will give you and your family the peace and privacy to recover, and welcome your continued contribution to our society.”
