I can claim this honour because I have not bought a single mask since the outbreak of Covid19. The only 4 masks I have were given free by courtesy of our very caring govt. Oh, I have not used any of them yet. I am still using an old one from a pack I bought many months ago for use in the train to reduce the smelly BOs or when someone is having a running nose and sitting beside me. And I have been reusing this mask for more than a month, just a bit of dusting it after getting off the train. If I were to discard after every train ride, I would be running out of mask in no time and would have to join the long queues or become another sia suay or disgraceful. OK, ok, I did not use the mask in highly contaminated places, and did not it use everyday, just when I need to.
I dunno how many of you have come under the sia suay/disgraceful class, but if you are, this is food for thought. There are many ways of looking at it, from the point of being kiasu, so next time if you do not want to be called a sia suay/disgraceful, do the right thing, the politically correct thing. Another politically correct thing to do is not to wear mask if you are not feeling unwell. But I can't help it because most of the time though I am not feeling unwell I still have to put on mask in the train for obvious reasons I mentioned above. But whatever you do, don't buy plentiful of toilet paper or instant noodles, and don't buy too many masks. Just buy what you need. If you need to wear everyday and throw away after use, then I think you must buy and buy more masks, and have to live with the sia suay/disgraceful tag.
For those who already got this sia suay/disgraceful tag on them, do not be disheartened. Just stop buying or rushing out to buy up the whole NTUC Fairprice next time if something like this happens. You have many more chances not to fall back into this category unless you have kiasu and kiasi virus in your blood.
I think I am a minority that can say heng ah, I am not sia suay or disgraceful. Wondering who would those sia suay/disgraceful vote in the next GE?
PS. This Covid19 is not in the air, not spreading freely at this moment in the island. The danger zone is when you are near those that are infected. And if you suay suay stands near to one, talk to one, then the chances of getting hit is much higher, and the simple mask may not really do the job in such cases as have been proven by the hospital workers being infected. The mask gives a false sense of security, but better than none in dangererous zones.
Alamak, not only sai suay...suay suay olso kena label as stupids idiots by an elite minions who so arrogant tat his durians r all bao jiak tat he be the erected again. He meaning the Poreans r mostly stupid idiots who hoarding those items tat spoke well of tis person attitudes to the commoners, wanna vote tis person in parliement again better think twice lah.

Hahaha......
I never buy any mask this time. I still have a few N95 masks which I bought during the SARS outbreak in 2003. I also got the miserable but precious 4 pieces issued by the caring government that is quick to look down on sia suay, thick skin, kiasu and kiasi Sicklyporeans (being led by a cancer-strucked-twice pee-ayam) and a stroke-stricken Dee-pee-ayam. So far, I only use one N95 for the last two months, whenever I take a train or bus. And I avoid going to crowded places.
ReplyDeleteI never buy extra toilet papers or extra instant noodles. What I have are those few packets bought many moons ago, probably reaching expiry dates.
So, I don't think I belong to the Sia Suay Minister's grouping.
But I saw a few foreign ah nehs from the world's Highest Rapists Country buying up by pram-loads at FairPrice outlets near my house. Wife pushed one pram-load and husband pushed another pram-load. When I asked them why they bought so much, was it for a party or some big celebrations, they told me that they go shopping only once a month and they bought their supplies for the whole month. That seems reasonable. But don't know the Sia Suay Minister will include them under his sia suay group or not?
I think the biggest SIA SUAY is a highly educated Top-Scholar and ex-Army General who cannot carry himself and shows total contempt on the very people who voted for him and pay his multi-million dollars salaries. He not only disgraced himself and his parents, but also disgraced the PAP, the Singapore Government and the People of Singapore. He does not have even an iota of political acumen, yet still made a Minister! Shocking!
Such a shocking disgraceful conduct should never have passed the Selection Committee if the Selection Process was strict enough. He has now confirmed that the PAP has reached the bottom.
Time to think very seriously in the next voting opportunity.
Personally, I think Chan Chun Sing is a sia suay Minister.
ReplyDeleteIt's disgraceful to know that one day Chan Chun Sing will be a Deputy Prime Minister ... on the same level as Goh Keng Swee and Shamugaratnam.
Since LHL is a two time cancer survivor.
DeleteAnd HSK is a one time stroke survivor.
And CCS looks as healthy as a mule.
Do not be surprised if CCS becomes Prime Minister one day.
Yes, he also disgraced the authorities who had conferred him his Scholarships, the schools and universities he attended, the SAF that made him a General, and the person who introduced him to join the PAP!
ReplyDeleteIf I've 2 million dollars in salary flowing into my bank account every year, many cheapskate things that ordinary Singaporeans do will look sia suay to me. Still, I won't look down or even say. Humanity . . .

ReplyDeleteAs I've mentioned a million times, Singaporeans are far too sensitive and CARE TOO MUCH about what others think of them.
CSS is entitled to his opinion lah. Doesn't make his opinion applicable to EVERYONE else. We all evaluate risk differently.
If you look the work of statisticians like Nassim Taleb, they take pains to explain why ONLY THE PARANOID SURVIVE.
We have very active "fear sensors" which is probably one of the reasons that as a species we've been so SUCCESSFUL.
Coupled to those senses is a brain which uses heuristics (short cuts) to evaluate current data and make decisions on what to do next.
Let's say you're in the savannah hunting and gathering like a typical homo sapien. Suddenly you hear a rustle in the grass (savannahs have lots of thick long grass).
Your senses and brain alert you to possible danger. Is it a lion or is it just the wind?
The point is that if you're paranoid and jumpy, you'll be still alive even after 1000 +++ "false" alerts.
But if you're wrong just ONCE by judging it as wind when it was really a hungry lion, YOU'RE DEAD.
IMO dun worry about people calling you names or judging you lah. You decide. Your life, your business.
Let those motherfuckers die. Their business.

Of course must use masks during times like this lah!! Don't be stupid.
ReplyDeleteGovt tell you don't wear unless coughing is BS --- this is only during normal times lah. Why govt say this now?!?!? Becoz they don't have enuf masks for ALL sinkies that's why. Only essential personnel like govt medical staff, ministers, senior civil servants, top level cronies in GLCs / TLCs, SPF (only 20% will have), SAF (only 10% will have).
S'pore has the money but other countries don't want to sell to us. In early Feb, my friend tried to buy online from china, korea, japan --- all REJECTED him! I told him better he quickly buy from those countries that haven't kena the virus so much YET! He finally bought a big batch from South America in mid-Feb. I think now also cannot get already.
As for me, I've accumulated lots of masks over the last 20 years --- SARS, haze, bird flu, swine flu, MERS, H1N1 etc. Both N95 (more for haze) and normal surgical masks. Very easy for me to accumulate in the 2000s as I was working in hospital then.
As for expiry dates -- it's more for N95 (against PM2.5 particulates) and/or if you really use the masks in dangerous toxic environments. For civilian day-to-day use, keep 50 years also can, as long don't disintegrate on your face. Keep the masks in cool, dark & dry area (throw in some desiccants).
Like insurance, best time to buy is BEFORE it happens. Next best time is AFTER the thing already happened a few months already & you're still alive.
Since February 2020, the only thing I SIA SUAY want to buy & checking prices weekly are stocks (all over the world). USA stocks looking VERY interesting!!!
PS: Even if you wrap your nose & mouth --- if some infected coughs within 2m, the aerosol will also go into your eyes lah! That's why HAZMAT & even normal infection-control in hospital use eye cover as well.

Read the above and you can see why this American paid running dog die die must add in a few words to attack China. This is what he is paid to do. The rest of his comments are just distraction to mislead readers that he is an innocent twit. The real message he is trying to post is to attack and smear China. This is what he is paid for.
Actually I thought he would lie low for a few more days before he starts to attack China again. It seems that his handler has told him to keep at it and he could not say no.
Matilar now that we know u worked in hospital I hope u are not a doctor or nurse or who have close contact with patients as you are a pervert very dangerous to patients. May be by now u have akready raped sodomized or molest uoteem no of patients

I think you have given him enough rope and too much face already. It is about time to eradicate this undesirable pest from here altogether.

Hi Anon 3:45pm, your points noted.
ReplyDeleteI will henceforth delete Matilah's paid posts whenever they appeared. The others non paying posts I can let it be.
Matilah, a normal person would not take very opportunity to attack China, the CCP or Kim Jung Un whenever he makes a post. Only someone who is paid to do so would do it.
It is time to tell your masters you can't do their dirty works here.
Hindus and Muslims are fighting it out in Delhi with the latest death toll at 38. Much more than the Hong Kong riots a few months ago. But I do not see the MSM reporting this every hour on the hour.
ReplyDeleteThis is a religious conflict with the Government supported Hindus trying to put down the Muslims protesting against the CAA. And the Muslims are claiming that Indian troops are being used and taking the side of the Hindus and that Modi is trying to turn secular India into a solid Hindu country with his policies.
It will be interesting to see as the situation develops, what the West has to say about this. The West consistently accused Myanmar of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya and also the Chinese doing it against the Muslims in Xinjiang.
Donald Trump was reported to have said that this is an internal problem of India. Rohingya and Xinjiang are not internal problems of Myanmar and China? Double standard pure and simple!
You won't see this article in our anti-China state media, or Bilahari blasting Trump.
ReplyDeleteWhen a Pandemic Meets a Personality Cult, The Trump team confirms all of our worst fears. - By Paul Krugman, Feb 27
So, here’s the response of the Trump team and its allies to the coronavirus, at least so far: It’s actually good for America. Also, it’s a hoax perpetrated by the news media and the Democrats. Besides, it’s no big deal, and people should buy stocks. Anyway, we’ll get it all under control under the leadership of a man who doesn’t believe in science.
From the day Donald Trump was elected, some of us worried how his administration would deal with a crisis not of its own making. Remarkably, we’ve gone three years without finding out: Until now, every serious problem facing the Trump administration, from trade wars to confrontation with Iran, has been self-created. But the coronavirus is looking as if it might be the test we’ve been fearing.
And the results aren’t looking good.
The story of the Trump pandemic response actually began several years ago. Almost as soon as he took office, Trump began cutting funding for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, leading in turn to an 80 percent cut in the resources the agency devotes to global disease outbreaks. Trump also shut down the entire global-health-security unit of the National Security Council.
Experts warned that these moves were exposing America to severe risks. “We’ll leave the field open to microbes,” declared Tom Frieden, a much-admired former head of the C.D.C., more than two years ago. But the Trump administration has a preconceived notion about where national security threats come from — basically, scary brown people — and is hostile to science in general. So we entered the current crisis in an already weakened condition.
And the microbes came.
The first reaction of the Trumpers was to see the coronavirus as a Chinese problem — and to see whatever is bad for China as being good for us. Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary, cheered it on as a development that would “accelerate the return of jobs to North America.”
The story changed once it became clear that the virus was spreading well beyond China. At that point it became a hoax perpetrated by the news media. Rush Limbaugh weighed in: “It looks like the coronavirus is being weaponized as yet another element to bring down Donald Trump. Now, I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus. … The coronavirus is the common cold, folks.”
Limbaugh was, you may not be surprised to hear, projecting. Back in 2014 right-wing politicians and media did indeed try to politically weaponize a disease outbreak, the Ebola virus, with Trump himself responsible for more than 100 tweets denouncing the Obama administration’s response (which was actually competent and effective).
And in case you’re wondering, no, the coronavirus isn’t like the common cold. In fact, early indications are that the virus may be as lethal as the 1918 Spanish Flu, which killed as many as 50 million people.
Financial markets evidently don’t agree that the virus is a hoax; by Thursday afternoon the Dow was off more than 3,000 points since last week. Falling markets appear to worry the administration more than the prospect of, you know, people dying. So Larry Kudlow, the administration’s top economist, made a point of declaring that the virus was “contained” — contradicting the C.D.C. — and suggested that Americans buy stocks. The market continued to drop.
At that point the administration appears to have finally realized that it might need to do something beyond insisting that things were great. But according to The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent and Paul Waldman, it initially proposed paying for a virus response by cutting aid to the poor — specifically, low-income heating subsidies. Cruelty in all things.
(Cont_d)
ReplyDeleteOn Wednesday Trump held a news conference on the virus, much of it devoted to incoherent jabs at Democrats and the media. He did, however, announce the leader of the government response to the threat. Instead of putting a health care professional in charge, however, he handed the job to Vice President Mike Pence, who has an interesting relationship with both health policy and science.
Early in his political career, Pence staked out a distinctive position on public health, declaring that smoking doesn’t kill people. He has also repeatedly insisted that evolution is just a theory. As governor of Indiana, he blocked a needle exchange program that could have prevented a significant H.I.V. outbreak, calling for prayer instead.
And now, according to The Times, government scientists will need to get Pence’s approval before making public statements about the coronavirus.
So the Trumpian response to crisis is completely self-centered, entirely focused on making Trump look good rather than protecting America. If the facts don’t make Trump look good, he and his allies attack the messengers, blaming the news media and the Democrats — while trying to prevent scientists from keeping us informed. And in choosing people to deal with a real crisis, Trump prizes loyalty rather than competence.
Maybe Trump — and America — will be lucky, and this won’t be as bad as it might be. But anyone feeling confident right now isn’t paying attention.

ReplyDeleteThe issue of compensation of top executives at both entities (GIC, Temasek) has been raised with calls for disclosure of these numbers.
ReplyDelete“If we are insistent on them disclosing indicators of fees and expenses to a great level of detail, it may lead these entities toward minimizing expenses, potentially eroding capabilities or diminishing their talent pool, which would also not be in our interest,” Lawrence Wong said Friday.
